I am okay, a little sore still. I lost 20lbs in the last few weeks. How are you doing with the band? What has been the biggest challange?

I love nuts, so I keep two oz of almonds, or peanuts, any kind of cheese and a few wheat crackers, string cheese is the best. I just have to keep something that I can get to every three hours or so because if I get too hungry I tend to eat too fast when I eat and then I can not get it to stay down. I like the fruit snacks too. I keep an orange or apple (small) when I have them, I have to peel the apple so I keep a small folding knife in my purse too, this always gets me when I fly, I have to remember to take it out of my purse. Oranges are better for the juice but I don't eat the peth, It layers over the opening to my stomach if I eat too much of it, I think I am very tight for my restriction and I am being very careful now.

One more week on that then i'll go onto the mushy stuff. I didn't get ANY gas trapped - don't know if thats cos i got up 3 times in the night after op and walked up the corridor.
how's your weight loss been? i'm craving pasta and pizza.

Yeah my restriction is so so. I have some; but I am eating more than the cup that my Dr says should be the max before you get the full feeling. So he says come in for a fill. I hope that jump starts things back up. I am working out every week, but only three days. I need to up it to five days. Yeah I could def eat better too. Its such a huge change. Im trying, but its a lot of work!

mezzo, you had asked me how long it took me to run my first 5K. I started running in May and I could barely make it a mile (and that took about 20 minutes). So basically most people could walk faster than I could jog. By Labor Day, I was able to run my first 5K in 48:03. The hardest part is just making myself start running each week.

I had my first fill today. Doctor said nothing but liquids for five days. I already feel dizzy and weak, it's gonna be a long week.

I know what you mean. It took me a while to admit that I really needed a change, and it wasn't until my husband admitted he was considering RNY I really thought it out, and decided I wanted to convert. I'm lucky to have a supportive family, and my surgeon and nutritionist were all for it, so tomorrow is the day my band will be removed. I'm looking forward to being able to eat chicken and steak again without worrying if its going to come back up *lol* But I do need to be careful in the 6 week interim until I have the RNY. I'm considering that 6 week period to be my adjustment to the idea that I'm now going to have a permanent change to my anatomy!

Hey Trina!
Big pointers are walking, eating low carb, and drinking lots of water. No soda at all!!! That's really been the keys to my weight loss thus far. I walk at least 6 days a week. I push myself further and further each week. It's work but aren't I worth it? LOL
Keep in touch!

Hopefully mine keeps moving fast too! I like to see results. I got stuck for a few days and decided to exercise. That helped, lost another 1/2 a pound. I will take it!
I am glad to hear you say the fills aren't bad, because I talk in the chat a lot and those ladies scare me to death with their stories!!! lol
So how is your week going?

hi! When were you banded. I have fm, diagnosed a year ago. I havent been banded yet. I am looking forward to the surgery but are having reactions from taking lyrica. i am having heart palpitations so right now we are trying to find out if they are coming from having pnuemonia or from side effects of lyrica that i had only been tking for a couple of weeks. did you experience any side effects? i was only taking a pill at night before bed.

Thanks for the compliment, your so sweet ! I'm just starting out, just got my referral for the lapband a few weeks ago. Most of my pictures i've posted are a few years old. I've gone up and down with my weight all my life and now I am at my heaviest. Its so nice to have someone to chat with who has gone threw it. You look fabulous !
Happy New Year !

Gosh what a mess! I am glad that you pushed through! Everyone is worried about having fun, and it's the Holidays so everyone is basically concerned with that. Next week should be a more productive week. Well, I myself am not being put on a liquid diet "yet'' I think since they scheduled my surgery a month in advance, and allowed me to do one high protein no carb meal, with shakes that would be enough to lose the necessary weight. On the other hand, thinking about it. I have an appt on Jan 19th and Jan 20th so they might go ahead and put me on the liquid for 5 days. Not sure, how it is all gonna go down. But, it sure is !
Look we really havent properly introduced ourselves. I am Patty and I live in Garden Grove. What's your name and where do you live?

I am sooo soo sorry they are not being very nice and supportive! Just keep the faith and stay strong! That was my fear, that all the paperwork and insurance would be a hassle. I am glad it isn't,but sad to hear that yours is not going as smooth. KEEP CALLING AND EMAILING! I did that. Two weeks to the date of sending the insurance auth, I called her and emailed to see how it was going. She amazingly called the next day and said oh yes..we just checked our mail and it was approved.. So, that proves you have to be on their cases. I am sure everything will smooth over in the next few days. Keep me updated. Let me know how the liquid diet is going, and what your choices are.

How are you doing? Did you make it through Christmas & the snow ok?
I had my first fill today. I was so scared- but then I felt nothing. I now have 5cc's in my 10cc band. I can already tell the difference. Did you feel that after your first fill? Did you gon in today for another fill?
I ate too many of the wrong things over the holidays. I only lost 3.8 pounds in the last 4 weeks. I was down 8 pounds at one time. Need to eat better thats for sure.

Thank you for you fomment on my picture. I hope everything goes well for you and your surgery. I had mine last year and had absolutely NO touble at all. No pain, no sickness, nothing. Well almost nothing. The gas was awful for the first week but after that I was good to go. I wish you much success with yours as well. Please keep me posted.

Thank you for your helpful advice. I must admit I had fallen into some bad habits and had stopped exercising as much as I did in the beginning because of a shift change on my job. For the last 2 weeks I have went back to really watching what I eat and limiting my calorie intake. I have started working out at least once a day for 30 minutes (sometimes twice). I am back on the wagon now and am really trying to reach my goal. I have come too far to stop now. I will tell anyone, its easier getting off the wagon than it is to get back on so my advice is dont get off. lol I will turn 40 in February and it is my goal to be 155 by then. I weigh 162 now so I think I will reach my goal. I will keep you posted.

you look amazing... I just have to ask what your daily routine is like. I was banded a week after you on 10/13 and have only lost half of what you have lost. did you lose a lot pre-op? After seeing you I'm starting to wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Hey Karen dont lose your motivation. I hit the gym 5 to 6 times a week for 2 to 3 hours and I eat about a cup of food and light snacks. If you need anything, feel free to message me
good luck on your journey. We are all here to support each other!

Cool! I was suppose to wait another week for solids, but I couldn't take it. lol so I've been eating somewhat soft regular foods, and I'm feeling fine. I dont see my doc until mid-January for my fill. I'm really ready for it, because I want to be restricted, like full off of 4oz like they promised. haha

Well if you are TriCare Prime - have all you ducks in a role! I have been fighting with Tricare for over 100 days now! Make sure you are well over 100 pounds, if you have any comorbities that have a perscription - make sure you are taking all you drugs and that it is documented and current and your bone structure is on record and Tricare has that. I am sick of dealling with these people my husband and my mom said they would go 1/2's on the surgery just to get it over with. In August I spent a week - going to the clinic and getting weighted and having my blood pressure check, all my meds re-ordered and then I sent everything back in. I got a letter on the 19th of December saying that I have to start all over - I bet they lost it all! Eventhough I sent it certified mail. Now I have their fax number and a phone number that is not posted!! I will call twice a week just to see if they need anything else.
I hope you have better luck than I have!

Brenda i was just looking at ur pictures and i think you have done a great job so far. I commend you on that. I also read your blg and it seem as if you having trouble to loose a few more pounds first you have to be honest with yourself about your eating habits. Make sureits on track another thing to look out for is what you drinking make sure you are not drinking your calories. That can be easy to do at imes i find myself strungling with that. My next advice is to find you a real intense workout plan and stick with it atleast 3 days out the week. Keep me posted i would love to follow your process. Maybe we can help one another out. Good Luck and keep up the good job.

Happy Chanukach!! Sorry,....didn't even know that you wrote back. Anyway, I had absolutly nothing before. I went in and talked to my doctor about it. She referred me to my surgeon and when I went to see him, that was when I made the decision to have it. I was placed on his waiting list. My first visit with him was on October 6th,and I got a call from his scheduler the first week of November and was scheduled for the 24th. I had pre-op at the hospital the week before, checked into the hospital the night before the surgery, and was wheeled in to the OR at 10:30 in the morning. They discharged me the next day at 12 noon. I boarded a bus and headed home to Eilat.
I was born and raised state side as well. I too have dual citizenship.
Have you had your surgery? Or at least is it scheduled? I had my first fill yesterday.......was interesting. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

I hear you my weight has pretty much stayed the same but I get scared sometimes because I feel like I don't get full or I'm always hungry I think it's in my mind. Thank god I only have a little over a week. My best friend got banded in May so I see the difference in the amount of food you can eat. My doctor also let me go in the room with her to get a fill so I've seen that process too. I think she is a fill junkie too she has lost 80 pounds so far. So I also have a partner to help me through this process.
