Plastics consult- questions for PS vets
jess9395 replied to LisaMergs's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
No sadly skin doesn't count for the removal it's grams of breast tissue. Your story is very much like mine. I was up to like a 42G but probably should have been wearing something bigger. After my loss it was 32DDD but t was all skin rolled up into the bra. Lift and 300cc implants put me back to 32DDD which was great bc I didn't have buy new bras LOL! They look perfectly in proportion which is odd I thought I'd like a C+D- myself and were it totally up to me I probably wouldn't have done implants but at DH's and the surgeons urging I did and they do look perfect. But I do have to try on shirts all the time now bc I never know if I will fit a small or a medium. If I liked my shirts clingy I could probably get away with small all the time, but I don't! To the OP if you PM me I will send you scar pictures -

@@Tyani Your PCP sounds like an asshole!!! He expected you to lose 62 lbs in 3 weeks? Seriously?? I would have told him to screw himself. You're doing great - and you aren't doing anything wrong!!! Meet your Protein and Fluid goals and keep going! I'm sure your surgeon is thrilled with your weight loss results. I'd be finding a new PCP ASAP - no one needs that BS! You're 3 weeks post-op - no one loses 62 lbs in 3 weeks!

Ok so I went to the gym today always start out by hopping on the elliptical for 15 minutes. Well I felt calm and my breathing was slow and could breathe in and out of my nose. I didn't need to open my mouth to take in deep breaths. So I thought what the heck I'll jog some today bc I'm doing so good. I go work on my legs and do a arm machine before heading to treadmill. After that I'm on the treadmill started to zone out for my focus point then start to jog, I did that for 7 minutes! I know it doesn't sound like much but for me it is great of course back in 2013 I jogged for 20 minutes. Working myself up to that amount will probably only take a few days. Yaaaayyy me!! Hair loss 1 year out
katie09/21/2016 replied to Saeed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. The fight and struggle is real - I am living that. That's why it's unhelpful to see people cutting into others for no reason. I see repeat offenders and I realize I'm probably going to get lynched off the forums just because I spoke up about something I think is distasteful (HOW DARE I!). I Have tons of respect for some of the "warrior" names listed: I see strength and humility in those people & I enjoy reading their posts. I get so fed up with the people who just are nasty for the sake of being nasty. There are elements on the forums are proving to be a reflection of society: it's a "shut up you fat b*tch, be seen and not heard while us thinner and wiser souls have the floor and dictate the terms". That's what this is coming across to me as. I'm bracing for the attack now - all because I pointed out it's not helpful to tell someone their surgeon is "full of crap". Maybe I can come back when I'm thinner and I will be "allowed" to speak up? Scary journey indeed. Sent from my iPod touch using the BariatricPal App -
Hair loss 1 year out
katie09/21/2016 replied to Saeed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You joined one month ago. This is a COMMUNITY of HELP. Maybe we get snarky trying to save lives with people here and sending them to ER visits. YOu tell me one other place you can go for help. NOWHERE. I can barely reach my surgeons nurse in the past three years. I know when to go to the ER. I am older and have pushed past the BS with my surgeon, but a 20 year old does not have my experience. Disrepctful is NOT OUR AGENDA. We are leaders, not nurseries for infants. Give me. Break, I am so offended. Saving lives by telling people their doctors/surgeons are "full of crap" over Vitamins for hair loss?? Ummmm no. You can try and put me in my place with your "I am a leader" speech but the leaders and people I respect in here don't rip people apart for sharing their experience or surgeons advice. I'm not going to let you steamroll me because I pointed out something that is basically a sh*t move and being rude for no reason. Yes, I only joined the community a month ago and I'm still earning my stripes I guess, but just because you are older and have more time in here doesn't give you a free pass to be rude to someone who is sharing information. ITS NOT HELPFUL. But please, let move aside and you continue "saving lives" with your snarkiness. PEACE Sent from my iPod touch using the BariatricPal App -

Hope I finally get some restriction after my second adjustment.
WLSResources/ClothingExch replied to tallgirl1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If your second adjustment does it for you, great. It can take more than two, though, so be aware of it and keep your expectations reasonable. There's no need to "starve" yourself to lose weight. Plan meals ahead and choose your foods wisely and you can be nicely fed. Most people and practices refer to "fills." At mine it's "adjustments," which makes more sense because of the occasional need to withdraw saline. Is it remotely possible that your surgery was at Columbia? -

@@Babbs So you've tried taking Biotin, Zinc and Omega 3 and it didn't work??? I will have to let my surgeon know that he's full of shit bc this woman on BP is a hair loss expert. -
On my way to hospital with post-op infection, after being in ER all day surgery. My Initial surgery was self pay, bc ours has no Bariatric benefits. My Bariatric RN Coordinator just called to tell me that though initial surgery was self-pay, any/all complications ARE covered by insurance. Can anyone verify this is true from personal experience??? Fingers crossed she is correct!!! Thx MommyB Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was 9/26, and unfortunately the drain in left upper abdomen became infected. I was in ER all day yesterday with fevers and terrible pain. I am on antibiotics now, and drain was removed yesterday (excruciating!!) I feel much better, but still have a decent amount of pain plus soaking sweats and chills. Drain site actually looks worse tonight than it did yesterday. I go back to surgeon Tuesday AM... Other sites do not hurt at all! I can keep up with my liquids without problem. Once I got sick, I regained the 5 pounds I had lost... all inflammation I'm sure, bc still on no-cal clears. But bummer a bit anyway. Glad you are doing so well! Love hearing an update! You don't look like you need weight loss surgery!
Djmohr replied to shannenm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear that so often and honestly when i look at pictures of me I just get sick how heavy i was. People would always tell me i carried my weight so well. I call BS....I was very heavy and sickly from it. For people to say, you dont look like you need surgery is hysterical. I honestly think they simply dont know what to say or maybe are scared. Now I get the opposite. People that haven't seen me are shocked at how i look and those that do see me regularly shake their heads. Apparently they think i am too thin now, but i am not. They just aren't used to seeing me at a normal healthy weight. Even some of my doctors! Similarly I am at my father N laws again this weeked and every weekend he asks to take a look at me. He then proceeds to tell me how thin my face looks as if i have lost more weight. I stopped losing in March, in fact i have gained 3lbs so I have to keep reminding him that i have lost no more weight and I am where I should be. That i am healthy. He then proceeds to tell me how pretty i am and is constantly reaching for my a$$ which no longer exists. I told my hubby his dad is a dirty old man. He is 87. LOL... Today he was saying how much he loves to look at the pretty cheerleaders when watching football. Geez...... -
HOW DO YOU KEEP A SCHEDULE OF FOOD, VITAMINS, AND MEDICATION?
sc101071 replied to RedE2Go's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Baritastic app. I set it for Vitamins only bc I'm in a rhythm w my Fluid and food. I don't need a reminder to take each Vitamin either but every once in a while i will get a notification and remember I haven't had my vitamins today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
My the left shoulder pain continued to worsen over last 2 days. Then it progressed to severe left upper abdomen pain I was having fevers, sweats and shaking chills by this AM, plus unbearable pain. I was like a turtle laying on my back, I could not sit up or even roll over bc hurt so horribly. Turns out the drain in left upper abdomen became infected, though outside wasn't even red until tonight. Boy is it red and hot now! My surgeon pulled the drain out of the swollen infected insides of me, and I almost passed out from the pain. I am self pay, and though nervous, I decided against getting re-admitted to hospital. So I got several liters of IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Fingers and toes crossed that I am some better by tomorrow. I am supposed to return to being mom of four by Tuesday... I hope all my other newly-sleeved friends are faring better than I am! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Psych evaluation questions
sey1008 replied to pnova98's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The psych eval was easy breezy. She asked questions that would show signs of eating disorders, asked about stress and my home life, made sure I had enough intelligence to understand the decision I was making, and asked about my psych history. I was extremely worried about the last part as I had/have PTSD, a string of psych misdiagnoses to go with it, and anxiety. I passed, bc I don't have any active/uncontrolled issues that would impair my judgement. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App -
I am going to give a really honest and respectful response. I don't think it's a lack of motivation. You clearly have a disorder if you were prescribed medication for it before. Disorders don't just go away bc they remove half your stomach. I am a mental health counselor and have a master's degree. So I'm not just spewing uneducated opinions. You need counseling to restructure the relationship you have with food. You can take all the medication you want, you can get the surgery 100 times if you don't work on the cognitive part of the process you'll continue to backslide. I really hope you understand this and go speak with a counselor not just the psychiatrist. Please let me know how you're doing. Good luck to you. Sent from my LGLS770 using the BariatricPal App

BIRTH CONTROL POST!
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to The Starving Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im suprised they did it that young. I had a 26yr old coworker who was allergic to latex and for some reason i cant remember now couldnt use bc. The drs and ins would not tie her tubes ubtil she was 30, even though she had a 10yr ols and a 3yr old. She basically used abortions as her birth control. -
Hi everyone, my surgery is next Wednesday and I want to prepare this weekend by stockpiling some Soups. My question is, how creative did you get with the soups? Can you do a tomato based Soup if it's very thin? I'm just a wondering bc I hear people here saying they drink V8 during the liquids phase so it's kind of similar sounding to me. Any thoughts? I'm going to check out the international foods section of the supermarket for some soups and definitely try the wonton soup without the wontons as someone here suggested. Thanks for your help!
