Feeling Of Food Sitting In Throat?
Anjela424 replied to jemjem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel exactly the same as you. I am almost 7 weeks post op and I have a stomach stricture and an ulcer. I have had 3 endoscopys and been dialated 3 times as well. They say what's happening to me happens to less than 1% of patients. My surgeon said out of the 2 thousand surgeries he's performed this has only happened to 60 ppl. I too have buyers remorse and I plan on going to the support groups and telling my story bc they never made me aware of ANY of this. I am beyond frustrated and I feel like I'm going to die at times! The pain the nausea the vomiting the weakness. I barely even drink....maybe 6 ounces a day. I've lost 40+ lbs so far but so what! This is so not what I signed up for -

Stomach flu post-op
shadowmags replied to shadowmags's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I called my surgeon this morning and they said there is nothing from the surgery that would make it hang on longer but that they have heard that this recent stomach bug has gi effects that last longer. I'm still waiting to hear from my pcp. I have a great pcp so I'm hoping that they have some good info I can use. I am worried about dehydration. And I'm just exhausted. I have been having dizzy spells too but I think that is from my blood pressure and heart rate being too low. I was on three different blood pressure meds before surgery. I've gone off of two of them bc my bp and hr dropped too low. :-) even tho I don't like how it makes me feel but I'm thrilled that the weight loss is helping me be healthier! I'll post after I talk to my pcp. I'm sorry about your pancreatitis! I hope you feel better soon! I had a lot of complications following surgery but I can tell you that it gets better! Get lots of rest and listen to your body! -
When did you have your surgery? You will need to up your calories if you are working out hard. Usually with a trainer you will work out harder than you will on your own. You won't gain weight, you need more calories bc you burn more calories. You can start by adding an extra protein drink.

I lost weight, but people around me were effected
SLL replied to Shanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! MNBSLEEVE, your post almost brought me to tears. I pasted the Mandela passage for my journal I will take to surgery. Thank you for that! You know, really, if you think about it, we lose both ways with certain people...we are insignificant to some when we are overweight & we are offensive to others after we lose our weight. I've always been told that I can't please everyone all the time...and believe me, I try! I try way too hard, sometimes at the expense of my own self, whether it be sleep deprivation, overbooking myself, helping someone do something I greatly do not want to do, etc. This journey may be the perfect time to start doing more for me and less for others in some regards...I don't mean to be selfish. I think it is VERY important to help others every chance I get. But, to find the perfect balance between serving others & nurturing/respecting my own needs & wants. Does that make sense? Anyway, Shanny, your post was thought-provoking. I am sorry for your loss. I had a friendship loss 1 year ago (not weight-related) also where I just had to cut this person out of my life bc she was very manipulative, controlling & hated my husband...pushing me (forcing me really) to divorce. (She had divorced also bc her husband forgot to stop dating other women after they got married). She was an asset in some ways, but I realized that she was toxic to my marriage & I had to walk away so as to not live in chaos and turmoil anymore. It is sad & I hate that, but I had to take responsibility for me & my family. Such is life. We just can't please everyone. We have to be true to ourselves:-) -
So it's not like I had a big chest to begin with but man, what I had has left the building completely! Its not just my ego that's deflated about it... I honestly never thought I'd be a person who'd consider implants but I seriously am. I can't be the only one who's had this so what did you guys do? I'm not looking to be a girl with huge b**bs, just a girl who's bra is an actual portrayal of what lies beneath.

I have been having a really rough time on the liquid diet part hopefully next Thursday I can go on puréed foods. I am also getting down because people make me feel like I will never eat again. I have been craving sushi like crazy and a few people said well keep craving it cause you will never eat that again. I mean why be so cruel. I hope I can def eat sushi after surgery. Some people say oh well you have to wait at least 2 years to eat sushi. It's making me feel like I have to defend myself all the time. My family is super supportive and always tell me I will eat my favorite foods again it's just a matter of time. Other people make it seem like I have committed myself to a death sentence. Are these people right? Will I be able to eat sushi in a few month or years or never. I'm just getting so fed up. I also love pasta and rice and they make it seem like well that's off the menu forever. I don't want to eat it always but knowing every once in a while I can have it makes me feel better.

July 2020 Surgery anyone?
Lmpg replied to IWantTheDream's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! U sound like an over achiever. Lol At least you'll have a nice nap pretty soon. I wish u much luck and success. I had mine 7/15. No problems and went home next day. It is hard but worth it. Today was very hard bc I'm weak, tired, depressed, and rebelling against protien shakes. But it's one day and I will continue to fight no matter how many days might go bad. I've lost 30 pounds since liquid diet. Can't be more glad than that! You are gonna do great. This is it! Let us know how it goes! -
So all my life I have had period issues. When I was a teen and into my early 20's I was on birth control pills to give me more normal and regular periods. Was also told that it would help my PCOS, Endometriosis and Adenomyosis . My GYN really wanted me to get a hysterectomy saying that was really the only thing that would cure that stuff but I wasn't ready. I was also young and not sure if I wanted another kid or not. So I didn't get it and stuck to the pills. And the BC pills worked for a while. Until about 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with high BP. Then the doc took me off of them. I was back to square one with the monster migraines, heavy, clotty periods, the periods coming whenever they felt and staying as long as they wanted sometimes lasting like 14 days at a time, etc. Right around the time I was diagnosed with high BP and taken off, I was also diagnosed with Insulin Resistance. So my endocrinologist put me on Metformin and said that would help the IR and PCOS/Endometriosis/Adenomyosis issues and help me becomes regular again without BC pills. And it did!! I would get my period like clockwork within a few days time (usually every 28-33 days). And it usually only lasted like 4 days. So I get the sleeve surgery and was told that my periods could be irregular to start. It was kinda heavy the first few times after surgery and lasted a lil longer than normal but nothing nuts. One of my main goals for getting surgery was to get off of my medication or at least have it cut down. Well on September 13th I had my Metformin cut in half by my regular doc! Needles to say I was very happy! However I now think it's the reason my period is 47 days into my cycle today, 16 days late!! Like I said, I had gone to the doc Sept 13th and got my last period on Sept 17th. I've yet to have one since!! I swear weeks ago I felt like I was gonna get it. I had the aches, the tenderness down there and in my breasts, etc. so I'm not sure why it hasn't come. Has anyone experienced this? I do believe it's due to the Metformin being cut in half. Otherwise it would be very coincidental it was anything else like me going through the change/menopause suddenly when I've had no other signs or symptoms thus far. Has anyone gone through something similar? And no, no chance of being pregnant. Hubby was fixed years ago. Don't really wanna have to go on the pill again just to be regular. And especially not now since my BP meds have also been cut down and I'm doing great BP-wise.

Does everyone have to do endoscopy
Tufflaw replied to britt_will_getsleeved17's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do one, actually I don't know if it was my doctor or my insurance that required it. I have Empire BC/BS, and my surgeon was the one who did the procedure. -
I was nervous as well I just had my gastric bypass done May 1st. The pre op diet was rough Bc u know u can eat it without issues but u have to not eat it Bc of the surgery. What made it even harder for me was my husband ate whatever he wanted and I couldn't. But also once my surgery was done once I came home and started feeling better as surprised as I was I still was hungry just yet my body didn't want or need food it was all in my head! But as the time goes on u will feel better and it becomes a little easier each day. You can do this stay strong. Keep coming on here a reading ppl stories that helps a lot also. Hope I helped some. Good luck

OK guys maybe I’m just pessimistic (I stress maybe) but am I the only one who has found this surgery to be a complete B*TCH?!
BlueAngelEyes replied to HopefulonLI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes waking up was the worst pain ever! Id say it was more painful than my c section recovery. I was crying and could hardly keep my eyes open and talk because of the pain was so bad. My husband kept saying to the nurse is this normal is she ok. No one told me all the BS. I didnt ask more questions i didnt know so much. The Docter said its minimally invasive surgery recovery goes by in a flash. I call BS! I regret everyday i had this surgery done. I hope to be one of the people on here that finally get to there goal and say it was the best thing they ever did. My fingers are crossed! -

Are we allowed to share how psych evaluation go?
FluffyChix replied to TropicalBeachDoll's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good Lord! Demand a referral to another one immediately!!! That's absolutely terrible. Mine works with my surgeon and her bariatric patients routinely so knows the drill. While I was there, they had 3 other of her patients in the waiting room doing the same thing I was doing! I'm so sorry you had that experience, but don't put up with that BS! Fire her! -
how does seeing a Nutritionist work?
TQUAD64 replied to MISS.SUSAN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Miss.Susan: I have BC/BS Calpers Netvalue, which required that I either see a nurtitionist or my primary care doctor for the required 6-month supervised diet. I saw a combintaion of both. If I could not make it to the nutritionist I went to my PC. So starting January 2008 I started seeing the nutrionist once a month on a Saturday, which was very convenient for me. She documented my weight loss and/or gains. We atlked about exercise, protien and always discuss the banding/surgery. We talked about nutrition and Vitamins, and so much more. Anyway, my six-months required attendance was completed back in July, however I continue to meet with her monthly because I value the information she provides me and she keeps it real!. I will conitnue to meet with her after the surgery as well. -
Looking for inspiration while i heal my leak! Photos?
Crystal Woods replied to Sannah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny that you say that bc I look now how I always looked growing up until I got pregnant at 19, then again at 20, but still was only about 40 pounds overweight until I had my son and dilated cardiomyopathy in 2009 and the swelled up like a balloon. I am not pregnant in that first picture but everyone thinks I am. It's great to look like me again. -
I have Anthem BC/BS PPO and was not required to do the 6 month diet. Dr. Kaplan does require you to go through 6 nutrionist visits with Lindsey, though. My seminar was March 15th and I was banded June 30th, so it's about a 3 month process. Brenda (At Jeannie's office) takes care of all the paperwork for you. I lost about 30 lbs during the pre-op 3 months by following Lindsey's diet plan (1200-1400 calories) and exercise. There wasn't a certain amount that I was supposed to lose.
-
I'm getting the Band bc in the past I also have tried dieting, the part of losing weight is easy like Sweetpea said but my problem is maintenance.... That's why I think I need the Band the most! Its like a "headstart" for me bc I thrive on results.... The Band is so nevessary. I only wish I could have gotten it before I was 30! The last 10 years have been so challenging w/ diets that have failed for me.

I dont have much faith in the insurance...BCBS. In fact im beginning to hate them! My stuff was submitted on April 1 and still..........no letter......and its May 1. Im pissed!!! I called BCBS last week and they said since they got new info in....(a letter signed by me stating I knew the risks) they had 14 days from then to make a decision...which pushes me to next Wednesday. I SWEAR they are trying to push me until I have to pay the $3K deductible again on June 1. I FREAKING hate insurance companies...such a scam. I hate to be so pissy............but I am so fed up....I've been in this since September and still no band. Thank God im near the end...or I'd just give up. Im really near that point as it is. So.......if ya'll hear of someone going postal at BCBS.....its probably me! (After all....I work only a block from them...) lol

187 pounds. -4 pounds. Goal for sept met! Weighed in early bc I was banded today.

Post-Op Hunger Poll
juliarh replied to Can'tweight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
yeah, I'm with everyone else -- no hunger, don't care about it until I realize I haven't eaten in hours . . . or my family gets annoyed with me because I haven't fed them Now I get thirsty quite a bit -- so I feel like I need to drink a lot, but that's normal I suspect. -
Just Curious...?
fluffylibra30 replied to BentleyJade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a 24-26 at 285. I have always been hippy. Now at 203 I'm still at an 18 but wear a 12 top. It's BS, but atleast now I can shop in 1 part instead of going back and forth to plus and misses section.
