I know I read somewhere there are certain stalls that almost everyone hits (like the three week one) so I hope someone posts that info again. I'd love to see it. I'm six weeks post op. I hit my three week stall, which lasted just over a week. last week I lost 7 lbs, now I'm stalling again. I hope this is not an every-other-week thing!

Stalled after 3 weeks?!?
tcon replied to Anna Montana84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You reached the famous three week stall. I had a few short stalls that lasted 3-5 days. Pay attention to the way your clothes are fitting and not the scale. This to, shall pass. ???? -
I am between 600 to 800 calories. I was thinking this was too low! Haha I was sleeved 4/23 and have lost 38lbs. I was thinking I was a slow looser. I went through a three week stall.

21 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Op And Have Question About The Weight Loss
Lissa replied to LeLe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Renee, How close are you to TOM? Lots of ladies notice a couple of pound increase just before because we are retaining Water, then most see a loss immediately afterwards. That three week stall is a booger, isn't it!? I was so worried about mine, but just kept doing the water, doing the Protein, and then I had a big drop, 4 or 5 pounds, IIRC. I hit another one at the end of my 2nd month/beginning of the 3rd month, so I upped my walking and gained a pound. My regular doc told me that I wouldn't lose until I backed off the walking for a few days. I rolled my eyes when he told me that muscle weighs more than fat, but he's right. And, during that second stall, I lost inches in a hurry! That's when I dropped the second pants size, so always check your measurements when you stall on the scale. Also, always look for those NSV's (non scale victories). I've had tons of them lately and I make sure to keep my eyes open for them. Something as simple as being able to slide into a booth in a restaurant will thrill me, although I might not say anything to my dining companions. I was thrilled to be able to buy a belt...and then it was too big the first time I wore it! I had to adjust my car seat because I not longer need to sit way to one side so that the seat belt latch doesn't dig into my tush. Those are all somewhat silly, but they are the things that make me go YEAH! Good luck to you all! -
Calorie Intake & Stalls
VSGAnn2014 replied to RozzieJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rozzie ... chill, my dear. You're just experiencing the dreaded three-week stall. Happens to almost everyone. It will start moving again VERY soon. FYI, for those who love to compare, yesterday was my three-month surgiversary. I'm 5'5" (or 5'4", depending on whose ruler you believe) and 68 years old. Here are my stats: I lost 19 pounds pre-op (11 on my own and 8 on the surgeon's two-week pre-op diet). Post-op I've lost: Month 1 = 10.4 Month 2 = 11.8 Month 3 = 8.8 ... for a total of 51 pounds. I'm very, very happy. -
Hello and welcome in the forum, its great to have peoples from other countries who contribute and share their journeys and knowledge. I didn't know anyone who had this surgery either, so this forum was super helpful. In the months waiting my surgery I read thousands of back pages. You are at a really difficult place in your journey. Everything is hard to learn, eating and drinking are difficult. Lots of people find it hard to drink the shakes, I just drank milk with dried milk powder in to boost the protein or milk with peanut butter and fruit. You just have to wait until you can have real food again. We have all been there, it sucks. There are still foods that are off my menu, mainly chicken and the very preloved cooked salmon. I hope that I can eat them one day but its still a small price to pay for my weight loss and getting my life back. I wouldn't change a thing You may get a stall in your weight loss soon. If you want to read up on it, put three week stall in the header. There are thousands of posts. It saves a lot of anguish and asking yourself 'What am I doing wrong' Just take it day by day and trust the process. Go back and ask your team if they have any info that will help you just now with food and drink choices and make sure you have enough medication for the nausea. Good luck in your journey

I hit a three week stall. Now I’m at a 5 week stall. Each seems to want to last a week. I’ve lost twenty pounds in 5 weeks BUT I’ve gone from a size 16 to a 12 SO I know that during these stalls, inches are being lost, the body is doing good things! It’s not just about pounds! You can tell her that. (Let her know I’m no kid! I’ll be 54 in a few months. It’s slower for those of us who have seen a couple rounds!). :)

I gained back the ten pounds after surgery that I had lost before surgery. My pressure was low so I was loaded me with IV fluids and it took over two weeks just to get back to my pre surgery weight. So don't beat yourself up. I'm nine weeks out and just came off a three weeks stall. It was really hard to stay positive. But my body was still working because I lost inches not weight over that three week period. So hang in there this to shall past just follow the program you physician gave you.

I am beginning the fourth week of my three week stall. I am six weeks post op, and while I know the stall will eventually break, it is really discouraging while it's going on. It's helpful to read about other people's experiences, and to know I'm not doing anything wrong - it's my body fighting back....I mean, adjusting. 🙂

I like what Karen had to say.. I know it can be frustrating I am a "slow loser" but you have to trust the process. And don't starve yourself. In no way does that help. I find the when I drink more than 64 oz of Water a day it really helps the weight loss. Just don't give up you are so early out and the three week stall can last 3 weeks also! So you are right on track with that one

It's great to hear so many of us are going through the same thing. I hit the three week stall as well. I am so glad so many other people are having this problem too. It makes me feel a lot better. And for the constipation I take miralax. Flavor less and colorless. I mix It right in with my protein shake about every other day. No cramping. Just makes it happen for you. =) Good luck everyone. We can do this! Skinny here we come!! -

Could my period be causing weight gain
huskergirl1972 replied to chewbug26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the very same thing happen, lost 25 lbs in first two weeks. Week three I started soft foods and had no change in weight for a full week. Period started, lasted for a week and finally now at week six weight loss has started again. Just be patient...seems the two/three week stall is common and then the PMS weight adds to it. Considering your surgery date I'm guessing you're likely in the three week stall. It's VERY common! Also, during stalls weight can go up a bit by a pound or three and bounce back and forth before your weight loss kicks back in. Just my own experiance anyway... my longest stall was 27 days. I also had one that lasted 23 days. Your body sometimes takes a while to get used to the changes and will stall you on occasion. I've had so many stalls I lost count... but, I've still lost 106 pounds in the 9 months since my surgery so you do get past it. Just continue eating like you're supposed to and try not to stress yourself out about it (almost impossible, I know)

Week 4 and no weight loss for 10 days now!
lynetta posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone heard or had the experience of a three week stall? I have been doing everything right. I'm getting in about 500-600 calories a day, I'm on mushy foods and I have been able to tolerate everything so far. I haven't tried anything I'm not supposed to have. I'm walking about a mile a day, drinking 64 Ozs of fluids, and getting in between 70-90 grams of protein a day. At my two week weigh in, I had lost 18 lbs since my pre-surgery weight but then nothing since then! I understand plateaus and stalls and even having a small plateau this early, but I've never in all my years of dieting have had a plateau this early and for this long. I called my dr and they gave me a couple suggestions, but so far, that isn't working either. I'm bummed because I expected at least the first month or two to have the fat melt away and that's not happening. Has anyone else had this happen and if so, how long did it take to get past it? I've increased fluids, exercise and protein and still nada! -

Very helpful advice needed!
Bufflehead replied to hernewselfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I practiced the behaviors I knew would be important after surgery. I got a myfitnesspal account and a digital kitchen scale and got in the habit of weighing or measuring my portions on myfitnesspal and logging everything. I stopped drinking with meals and for 30 minutes after. I gave up caloric and carbonated drinks. I started walking 20 minutes per day. And I read all the threads here and on other wls boards -- not just things that were of immediate concern to me, like what to take to the hospital or insurance approval, but I read all the post-op threads so I knew what to expect: things like the three week stall, gas pain from surgery that is only relieved by walking, stuff like that. -
April 6 Surgery - STALLED!!!
catwoman7 replied to cre8tivetara's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
the infamous three-week stall, right on time! Almost all of us experience that - if you do a search on it on this site, you will find over 17,000 posts on it (and no, I am NOT kidding). Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days if you have to. It WILL break - it always does. They typically last 1-3 weeks. And just so you know, you're likely to hit a few of these along your journey. Just hold tight and stick to your plan... -
An English Sleever's Journey

One week post op so I jumped on the scales out of curiosity...from a high of around 238lb before I began my pre-op, I am down to 212lb today. I know a lot of that will be water weigh and I am heading towards my three week stall, but I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself! -
@@Dashofpixiedust8 I weigh every morning, and I record my weight every Monday (a habit I started during my six-month pre-op diet). I am also data driven, and it would drive me more crazy to not know where I was than it does when my body acts all weird. I won't lie, the "three week stall" about broke me, but I finally broke free of that, and the past week or so, I have been in a bit of a free fall again. I know that won't last forever, and that the ebbs and flows will go on, but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts for now. I agree with @@theantichick, if it doesn't stress you out, weigh all you want!

Don't worry! I stalled in week 3 .. It's the dreaded three week stall.. Everyone goes through it.. Consider it a right of passage.. And week 5 I gained 2 lbs! It's just your internal thermostat regulator adjusting your body is freaking out! Now, with that being said.. I freaked out too.. Just try and relax.. Do what your supposed to do and it will come off!! I'm 5 months out and including pre-op I'm down 72 lbs.. You'll get there!! . Also, look up the Instagram community for support too.. I use it and I love it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Not losing anything? ?
McButterpants replied to tnf0920's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Search three week stall and you'll find out very quickly, you're not alone. Keep in mind - you're still recovering from major surgery...you removed most of a major organ. You're consuming MUCH less food than you did a few weeks ago. You're moving your body. So your body is like, "what the heck is going on? What are you doing to me?" Be kind to your body - you've put it thru a lot. It's going to continue to recover and realize that things are OK and let loose of some weight. Be patient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
A little late in the game but I agree with everything mentioned above. Three week stall, watwr weight, etc. as long as you are sticking to your plan it will break.
