So i have Florida blue bc/bs. Found out they DO NOT cover wls unless the doctor sends pprwrk saying its medically necessary along with proof and THEN they will review and decide. I asked if there were any other requirements and they said no. Ive already started the prerequisite appointments and have appointments scheduled into December 2016. What do i do? I don't want to go through all of this, just to be denied the actual surgery! My first appointment with nutrition is December 15th, then sleep study December 22nd! Should i talk to the surgeon? What proof are they wanting other than previous attempts at weight loss? Comorbidities? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

For those in a dreaded stall...
madisunshine1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in a stall for almost 4 weeks. Mind you I had my VSG on 8/2/16 so not even three months ago. I was -30 pounds for everrrrrrrr. I finally broke free and I'm -40 pounds as of today. It happens. Dont stress or obsess. I did both. And self sabotaged at times. But I worked through the emotions and got a stomach bug (ha, lost two pounds bc of that). Some days I don't feel like I look different. That may take a while. But I feel different. And I genuinely feel like if I never lost a pound ever again (god I hope not) but I wouldn't regret this surgery. Because of this surgery I have lost 40 pounds. Wow. SW: 264.5 CW: 224.5 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Pre op diet misery, cheat and allergies
Butterflywarrior replied to Butterflywarrior's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
yes, I found that out the hard way. Tall about gross, I nearly hurled just to look at it lol. I saw some Isopure powder that claimed it goes in hot and cold ..I'm dubious!!! Right now, I'm just blending it in skim milk with a stick blender. Yum the nurse allowed me to have milk bc of all the throwing up etc so I suppose that's nice. -

So ive read on here that most insurance requires 6 months of nutrition appointments.... my first nutrition appointment isnt until December 15th! Does that mean I won't even be considered for surgery until june of 2017??? Im so worried about that because the company I currently work for is not doing so well and may even close its doors before then. I have bc/bs insurance. My surgeon is out if Gainesville Fl. If anyone is from the area, I'd love to talk. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

"Whit flag"? "Surrender"? Dramatic much? Girl, if you let someone's recount of their actual experience stress you out before you've even started, you're in for a long haul when post surgical hormones start surging. I wish you well. why am I not surprised to receive one more snide remark from you? So you really wish me well or was that sarcasm too? I mean I was taking dramatic license in waving the white flag...I was trying to be a little funny..like let bygones be bygones? But if course you had to take that and rip it up to just cause I have a different opinion from you And no, as a ptsd survivor, this is not "all" it takes to stress me out however, bc of my anxious nature, not that you care, it doesn't take much to put me on edge and since I have surgery around the corner, I was just stating that.... I was only trying to make peace and I had hoped that would be kindly accepted, not poked at.. Why am I not surprised that I am not allowed to wish you well without being accused of sarcasm? You've twisted my words from the very beginning of this thread and you will until you have the very last word. So, have at it. I have no desire to take that away from you. Are you familiar with how to block people? Go up to your name in the top right corner, click manage ignore preferences and add my name. You won't see another one of my posts unless you look for it. I have a feeling that simple action will relieve a lot of your stress. Again. I sincerely wish you well. in that case, I'm sorry... it felt like you were picking on my post. I guess in overly sensitive. Thank you for the well wishes I don't like to block people unless they are like idk making passes at me or cussing me out lol. I believe in second chances. Peace? -
My biggest piece of advice - but one of everything. Even if you loved it preop. And then, 2 weeks later your tastes will change. So hold off in giant jars, etc.I've read that..ty for the reminder too....I'm glad I didn't but a few boxes of preimere protein bc tge sucralose is already making me sick and I'm still pre op until tomorrow!!! I've been holding my mom off on buying things! LolOh I have to do that too. She texts me every time she sees protein mix on sale. Haha.

Hi I saw my doctor a year ago about bariatric surgery. I have seen him two times after that about the weight. I currently Have GEHA and their requirement is 6 months of supervised diet. I brought the paperwork to my doctor thinking it would be all set since we had already attempted the weight loss. Now I'm thinking I probably won't be able to get approved by them anytime soon...I'm assuming the six months would have to start now and I would have to go every month for 6 months? The visits I've had won't go toward the six months? Is bcbs federal a better option for me since they only require 3 month supervised diet? Open season is November and I'm wondering if I should just switch.

I'm almost 3 months post op and I have stomach flu. This is TERRIBLE. I haven't had the stomach flu in 10 or so years. The vomiting and diarrhea is just awful. I went to dr. They have me some meds. Does anyone have any "go to" beverages? I cannot handle Water. I don't want to do tea bc of the caffeine. I have been drinking Powerade zero as much as possible and had some diet ginger ale. I went from nauseated to now cramping--- probably bc of all the meds and this is so rough on my tummy. Is there anything that helped you guys ever? I'm desperate and miserable. @@Butterflywarrior **Idk what's so harmful in expressing my newbie opinion based in science and prior mentoring when I feel someone is being told something that might lead them down the wrong path? I really don't get it... sure I get your pointto about experience and si on...I respect that...I use it in fact... but I just feel in this particular case, I was giving info that countered the experience of one person bc I didn't feel that her experience makes drinking diet carbonated soda okay?** No one asked if it was ok...the OP KNOWS that it's not generally recommended, but wanted to know if any vets drank it and if so, what their experiences were. Lipstick Lady answered VERY CLEARLY with her experience, reiterated that she wasn't recommending it for ANYONE ELSE and even said that she waited for clearance from her SURGEON. And still, you felt the need to 'educate' her and end it with something like 'but idk, it's your body'. Just don't. Okay? -

your support and encouragement are greatly appreciated... still doesn't mean I know nothing about diet soda, carbonation and so on...still doesn't mean I have nothing of value to add.. just bc you are able to drink sugar free soda wo effects doesn't make it good for you and going back looking for a weak post I wrote to pick on and use against be is beyond immature as well as appalling to me. Sure I can get upset and not like what someone says but not going to go look for things there struggling with to bring them down Wow Appalling!!? That's ALL it takes to garner that reaction? I definitely respect what vets have to say and take their advice to heart.... I just feel that first off, I didn't notice the poster asked for vets only but even if I had, what lipstick vet said was counter to any research study, book, health professional told me and I felt the need to state my opposing opinions for the posters food for thought.... It was about diet soda...to use it not and it was compared to crystal light and there are differences. Just because ONE vet didn't get consequences from sugar free combination doesn't mean it's okay! Idk what's so harmful in expressing my newbie opinion based in science and prior mentoring when I feel someone is being told something that might lead them down the wrong path? Doesn't mean I'm right but I felt if I spoke up about what I knew it would provide further information to consider Not all these accusatory words about being new, dobt talk against a vet, don't bring your baby knowledge in here against us.... -

from what I've been told the carbonation is more the potential problem then anything....Also if you so compare it to crystal light, it really depends bc there's crystal light pure made with truvia which is stevia a natural sweet plant not artificial sweetener Although the truvia is combined with a tiny bit if sugar alcohol which I learned also makes me sick but that's another topic One thing to consider though is that research has illustrated that sugar vs sugar free drinks both stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin bc tge body takes it all as sugar period... It just seems ur doing urself a disservice by drinking si called chemical filled drinks, sodas etc but if nothing else is good enough or works.. idk...it is ur body No, it won't. I think she's got this. yeh cause being a vet and keeping it off means you know everything and a newbie can have nothing helpful to add ...ok Here's MY issue. I answered the OP's question and very specifically gave MY experience, NOT general advice. You came in and told me I was wrong, was doing a "disservice" to myself, etc. Clearly I'm not from the numbers on the scale and I reiterated that. AGAIN, I only spoke to MY experience -- no one else's. I didn't speak to yours until you started questioning mine. No one said you were unwelcome, had no value, know nothing, etc. You said all that, that's YOUR baggage. Newbies are great! They have lots of great questions, information, ways of thinking... That said, to tell me I'm wrong when what I'm doing is clearly working for me is amusing at best. I'm an expert on no one but me and I say so in my signature. Not accepting YOU as an expert on me doesn't make me a monster, it makes me happily accountable for myself. -

Don't put words in my mouth, please. I simply said you know nothing about MY experience or what's best for ME. And yes, it absolutely makes sense to look at someone's history to judge their base of knowledge. I didn't trust my first surgeon because he was morbidly obese. I wouldn't go to a tattoo artist with horrible ink. I won't let someone cut my hair who had a bad portfolio. And yes, I'd rather take dietary advice from someone who isn't at the initial stages and struggling. Again, that's just me. -

I had some pretty bad gas pains, laying down was the worst bc it felt like all the air sat right in my shoulders and I couldn't take a deep breath. I think the only thing that helps is moving around (like walking or just changing positions frequently when resting) and time. Took a while, like 5 days to totally get rid of that feeling. I had surgery the 12th and the pounds are just falling off, I'm down almost 15 pounds since surgery day, I follow the recommended diet very closely.
