HUGE NSV for me! I wore a BIKINI!!!!
pattimomof3nj posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Ok so it was only in my back yard and in front of my hubby, mom and kids, but I did it!! A bikini top and 'boy' shorts (I think that is what they are called)! And when I walked past the sliding doors to the dining room, I had to walk back a few times to make sure I was really me! except for the scars on the tummy from surgery, I couldn't tell it was me! I wanted to cry! I purchased the top to wear under the sundresses that i got for vacation next week because I cannot stand to have my bra straps hanging out, and do not like the way the teens let theirs hang. I think that looks trashy! And at my age, I really do not need my bra showing! So I figured a bathing suit top looks much better! The girls may be empty sacks of skin, but they still need lots of support (c cup)!!!!! Only 4 pounds to a NORMAL BMI!!! and my personal OFFICIAL GOAL!!!!!! I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!! -
Starting weight: 349 Surgery weight: 326 Current weight: 299 I'm 2days from wk 4. I am just about to move to soft foods...yay! New food tastes make life better. Does anyone worry they are loosing weight fast enough? Like I'm not doing it right. I follow the diet to a T, exercise 30min a day...I still feel tired a lot. I keep my Proteins up and liquids mostly up. Am I just worrying too much? Drs say I am doing fine, but I have a hard time believing it. My husband went through a gastric bypass just 4days ago, so I am taking care of him. His weight is dropping really fast, I try not to be jealous, we are doing this together, so we'll be there for our children and he had diabetes. Am I just overwhelmed, this whole journey is a rollercoaster of emotions? Does anyone else feel completely nutty? Sent from my XT1650 using the BariatricPal App

I didn't tell my coworkers I had WLS. I've had comments that I look good, that they've noticed I lost weight or that classic Southern comment "You look well rested." My favorite was today: Somebody just told me to be careful because I'm loosing weight too fast! I assured him I am working with a nutritionist.

I found your original post and it looked like it was around 8am. I know for me, I work during the day then log on at night. Just the "new content" from today is pages and pages long. Even this post is 3 pages back from where Diva posted to it at 3pm. I can't really speak to the stall b/c I'm newly sleeved. But I think a comment on the original post with a "bump" or "still needing advice" probably would have helped. Based on your original post, it looks like you ARE losing inches (like Tiff mentioned), you're getting in your Protein, and your bloodwork looked awesome. I don't know that much about stalls, but from what I have read on here they are pretty much inevitable and everyone goes through them at some point. I wish you the best of luck in breaking yours!! I also know that I am probably one of the "newbie" stupid question askers but we either a) genuinely don't know or are just so darn excited about every little success. I don't think anyone on here would intentionally not answer you. Original post: "Well I knew it would come sooner or later I was just hoping it would come much later then this.. I have hit a stall and it has lasted 2 almost 3 weeks now.. The scale isn't moving off of 183.. I hit that a few weeks ago and up to that point hadn't really had much of a stall until now. It's driving me crazy. I'm not weighing but once a week and to see it sit the same every week has been a bit disappointing. Atleast it's not going up is what I keep telling myself, and I am still loosing inches just not pounds.. I started taking a zumba class once a week, and once I am comfortable in that class I will move up to 2-3 classes a week.. I am still eating right and getting in my protein. Infact I just had my 3 month blood work done and got a call from the doctors office telling me everything looked perfect and the only thing they seen I needed to add to my diet was Vitamin D.. I didn't even have to go in for a visit which shocked me after all I went through in January and February with the leak/absess. I just wish this stall would pass already. Is there anything I can do to get the scale moving again?"

HELP!!! Revision - Sleeve to MGB
cocoduan posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi all, Im 37 and injust got my MGB revision 20 days ago. I was sleeved 10 years ago and never reached my goal weight. After babies and hormonal BC i gained a lot back. I feel surprised now tho. I feel i havent loose much these days. I just started Phase 3 and where i live (Middle east) is very hard to find sugar free, fat free products and im wondering if is the greek yogurt (flavored) and the protein drink the ones that arent helping. Both say they dont have added sugar but have sugars at the end. Also i dont feel there is really a restriction in my stomach. Im still hungry, i can eat half cup of food, i can drink a whole glass of water with no issues... such a different experience than the sleeve. Im scared of failure. Im passing very light yellow stools i dont know why and is so painful. Sometimes i wonder if there was a surgery after all. Any ideas of why this weight loss is so slow? -
I'm going crazy deciding which surgery to choose!
harmony love replied to Shimmy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone Its my first post and would like to let everyone know how appreciative I am that this community is out there. Im writing also because I'm conflicted on which surgery is best for me and I know its ultimately my surgeon and my decision but still very scared. Just a little history of me I'm a working mom of almost 3 year old twins, I work at a fast pace medical office so Im pretty much on my feet 8-12 hours a day. I've been overweight all my life but since my pregnancy I have not been able to loose weight and have high blood pressure with high cholesterol levels. My father had passed away from a massive heart attack at 43 yrs old and I just turned 40. My BMI is between 36-37. My first initial visit 6 months ago was to get gastric sleeve but since I've been feeling in my heart I want bypass. On my endoscopy it shown some inflammation due to acid reflux and I've suffered most of my pregnancy with it and definitely do not want GERD. I know theres more vitamin deficiencies and more complications but I feel like theres more long term benefits with bypass. Again I really can't thank you all Ive been reading most of your posts and I feel so much more informed then I was when I started this journey. BTW my pre-op appointment with my surgeon is this week and Im a ball of nerves -
Having never carried an awful lot of my weight on my stomach mine was visible from very early on. I started at a bmi of 36. By the time Id hit 30 it was a very obvious lump and at 20 it looked like a walnut under my skin. I had it moved and as there is no low profile port for my seven year old band, the doc yook the bavk of it to lower its profile. Now its right by my bellybutton in that natural pad of fat instead of in the hollow below my ribs. Its still visible as a slight mound that just throws my bellybutton a little off centre but it waaaay better than the big knobbly lump it was, i could even see and feel tubing. You will probably see and feel it permanently to some degree, you cant have something tht size and shape on your abdomen just under the skin if you are of normal weight and not see/ feel it! But placement and profile make a difference.

7 Months Out! 124 Lbs Lighter!
cassieh replied to cassieh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks everyone. Sorry, I dont use my fitness pal. And yes, I do have some sagging skin. My arms and belly are the worse. Im ok with it tho, anything is better than where I was. -
@@JCP I think your right. It just feels so much like grazing all day. Not to mention if i eat every few hours the calories add up. Oh the snacks/meals i choose arent bad. (i made it sound like i grab chocolate first but that was what I did in the past, not post sleeve). Now I grab cheese, Peanut Butter, chicken, nuts etc.. Im just so affraid if i have so many Snacks i wont lose, or am ruining this honeymoon period. Did you still loose alot when you had to eat every few hours?

Hi All - wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they have overcome it. I had a lap band in Nov07 after a stapling 20 yrs prior. I have lost 2 kg since the banding. I have been back to the surgeon 5 times since then for top ups - today will be number 6. Last time he went pat his comfort level on the fill and I could barely get fluid down for 3 days (lost 3 kg in those 3 days and put them back on when i started on small amounts of solids in the next 2 days) but by 2 weeks post fill I am back to eating nearly a full meal. I have virtually no restrictions. The surgeon last time withdrew all the fluid at my insistance to see if I had a leak and he was able to withdraw fliud from the band. Had xrays and the band is where it should be. I eat sensibly with a treat every couple of days - I am type 2 diabetic so I can not go too mad and the blood sugars are good so the food I am eating is not the cause just the amount has not decreased. This surgery was a last ditch effort to try and loose weight to help improve a severe back injury.

For those who have gotten to their goal weight...
CantB2noty replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
56 lbs weight loss has brought me from a 50DDD to a 42DD, and let me tell you about sagging! Its only gonna get worse with the rest of my weight loss. I like smaller boobs, but could they please point forward instead of down???? Yes, they will be getting fixed, sooner than later since my back is killing me. I am gonna need implants, but hopefully with all the excise skin I can do a natural implant, but no more than a C cup. Thats my compromise with hubby cuz not having them at all sounds wonderful after totin these things all my life! Thus far, my tummy is doing well, bat wings on arms horrid, upper thighs are even worse. If I had the guts and insurance coverage, I think I would be all about the total body lift they show on plastic surgery before and after. But I have this thing against massive pain. -
Scared about 1st fill! Please help!!!!

Nancy, What did you mean about your last post? You aren't loosing weight? When did you have your surgery? Tell me some more details let me see if I can help you. Jayne -
Well today is the big day. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. I'm nervous. I guess we all are. The unknown is really scary. I had an unrelated surgery several years ago that was very difficult and difficult to recover from. I think I keep having flashbacks to that and expect the worst. I know I'm being silly. Everyone has been supportive here. So greatful for this site. I know the surgery only takes about an hour and I will be able to go home afterward. Just gotta keep thinking positively.:rolleyes2: I know this is really wierd. I know I'm 240 lbs with a entire host of health problems that will hopefully be improved by this surgery. But what is strange is that in my mind I am not that weight. I do not think of myself as overwieght until I am out somewhere and catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror. Or the doctor says if you would loose some wieght your sleep apnea would go away. Strange huh.

I know what you mean Jennye. I I just enjoy days I can eat more, because sometimes it's hard getting enough down.. Lately I have been snacking a lot on snicker ice cream bars, but I dont feel bad at all There is still plenty of time to loose the remaining 30 or 40 pounds, I am just giving my body the time to adjust to the weightloss....

I Think The Free Ride Is Coming To An End.....
B-52 replied to m1aman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have always done things like you describe. You have just hit a plateau which is very common. After a year with no fills, and doing just fine, I came to a point where nothing changed for 2-3 months, kept gaining, then loosing the same 5 lbs. The Dr. gave me a additional 1/2 cc fill and that licked me off the cliff so to speak and the weight began coming off again. After a while it slowed down again, but I changed (intensified) my workouts at the gym. Things began to move again. Things have since slowed down yet again, but I am not sure if there is any more weight I can loose that is not muscle. I still do not care about calories, how much or how little I eat. I just "Listen" to my band and live a normal day to day life, like all normal fit people do. -
Wait, can that be right? Did I really just . . . Need your opinions male & female
LaLaDee replied to YeaMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
One man ran for the hill specifically because you have loose skin?? Seriously, that is literally my worst fear. -
Woooo hoooo! Today is the day I hit goal. It all feels like a dream, a very, very good one. Since my surgery on February 15, I have lost 77 lbs. Since the beginning of my weight loss journey beginning on 1/1/2016, I have lost a total of 125 lbs! Woah, that is insane. I have gone from a size 24 to 6/8. Has it totally changed my life? No. Has it changed it for the better? Absolutely. I could list a hundred things, but I won't. A few: I don't dread getting dressed, I can keep up with others at the gym, I love being able to eat a small amount and be totally satisfied (never thought I would ever say that). Everything good far outweighs the bad. The only bad thing is the damage it has done to my skin. Which puts me in a dilemma. I have started dating again and frankly don't see the necessity of telling anyone at this point that I have had surgery. If I find someone that I am serious about, we can have that discussion. Dilemma - I have a 5th date with a great guy. He has no idea the condition of my body because I've always worn jeans and a shirt to cover my arms. Well, we are getting a little further into it and of course I am getting a little worried about his reaction when we become intimate and it will definitely happen sooner rather than later because we have a very strong chemistry, in we cannot keep our hands off each other. I tried to mentally put myself in his place and am not sure what my reaction would be to. To me the lose skin is hard to look at but considering I have lost 125 lbs it could be a lot worse. I'm super self-conscious about my arms, the breasts have gone from a DD to a hanging B, the stomach is wrinkly, but does not have a huge hang, my legs are pretty droopy and the butt is 75% gone, not pretty. So, here is the dilemma - do you start off with a warning or just let things roll? I love talking to my adult daughter about it - she says, mom you are gorgeous and he has told you the same thing - wear the cute sleeveless dress, and rock what you wear. The skin is what it is, it's not going anywhere. I would love to get other's opinions, especially the guys. Eeek - this all is crazy

I can only speak for myself, but my skin isn't too bad & I've lost 67# since surgery & 106# overall. I drink at least 50 oz of water daily. Sometimes I can get a lot more, but when it's much less I feel it in my bones. I also use body scrub or a loofah in the shower & baby oil afterwards. I also use Nivea skin firming Q10 lotion in between (maybe once/day), & take my vitamins. I also get a fair amount of cardio in & do yoga for strength training. I'm not saying I don't have saggy spots, but they are nowhere near as bad as I imagined they'd be.

A friend of my friend was sleeved 3 years ago, she said the honeymoon period is your life after surgery, she said she didnt loose a lot the first year because she didn't want to loose her hair and have saggy skin so she took it slow, she said it has been three years and still loosing slowly and steadily, she said she didnt follow any diet because her surgeon said she shouldn't, he told he he dosent want her body to be stubborn???? so she said she eats almost everything she likes but in a very small quantities, she said the only rule she followed is not to eat and drink without as least an hour apart. Thats why I asked you guys because what I heard from her is deferent than what I am hearing from here and there ???? Even thought I am far from having my own experience about it but I have to agree with Jemie logical because I felt it makes sense to me. And, I agreed with that surgeon that we shouldn't follow a diet ever because that was the purpose of having the surgery from the first place, right!! I might be wrong but I think people who think the opposite way and stress themselves with diet and weight are the ones who put some weight back after all. Good Luck all ????

I am so glad that your BF is coming around. My husband is as well. I also was upset about not getting any support. I currently am having " issues" with skin break down or something under my breasts and I was so upset today over it. I Showed hubby and he said " OH DAMN what is that from " I told him " BEING FAT" started crying told him they were " Fat Sores" . Later today our office manger came over , i thought it was weird he was over on Saturday . After he left hubby says " I think your surgery can happen in December " . they were going over money from the business . Something else when I had my break down he said that you might want to think about Sherrilyn. My husband told me " Mindy I feel like im in a catch 22 with you , if i told you I Think the Band is a GREAT IDEA that's awesome you would say something like , YOU THINK IM FAT I KNEW IT U Want me SKINNY .. if i told you no you dont need it , you would say ... SO YOU WANT ME TO BE FAT AND MISERABLE " and ya know he was SO RIGHT. I would do something like that. So maybe your BF feels a bit like that too . Im glad he's coming around. As for me and the band: Im doing it because I WANT IT , i have never wanted anything more in my life (other than my kids) BUT I want it so bad because I NEED IT . I NEED IT TO be around for my kids. When I heard those words " YOUR MORBIDLY OBESE , it scared the crap out of me. I NEED this ... HTH Mindy

I strongly second Amanda's advice. I became obese when i was 5 and when i was 21 years old I got down to a slim size and I was very athletic and in shape. I attracted alot of attention I wasn't used to. I loved it, but also hated it. I really didn't deal with it very well and of course regained the weight. If you get the sleeve surgery and you get stressed by this issue, you run the real risk of sabatoging yourself. I cannot emphasize enough just how hard that was. You said that you have been told that you have the kind of personality that people hate you for. What do you mean by that? It concerns me that you have experienced the world as kind of against you... you likely have very valid reasons for those feelings, but it will be very hard to go through life with that view and keep a healthy relationship with food. I generally don't feel regrets about life choices, but I seriously seriously seriously regret that i couldn't keep that weight off when I was your age. I would be so much healthier and have such a better quality of life. That was back before i had stretch marks, before i had the big extra skin on the belly - all that. It is really worth investing in yourself right now, at this time in your life. I wish you the best of luck

It stains the skin. It will wear off. And some of it might actually be benzoin to help the steri-strips stick.

Hi Sharon :biggrin2: I'm kindof, sorta almost at goal so I don't have fills very often any more. My last one was in January of this year so it's been 8 months since my last fill. When I was fairly newly banded and loosing steadily I generally had a fill every 8 weeks. I had my surgery in WA state at NWWLS and they have a satelite office with a fill nurse for their patients twice a month in Bellingham so I go there. Unfortunately they don't take on patients what were banded elsewhere... Patricia 11/16/06 Dr. Watkins - NWWLS 306/202/175ish -
I found by accident today online with BOB doing 5 min. office workout. I love some of the things I seen him doing and talking about. Now this is not the same as working out with him like in the Biggest Looser, but it fun and quick. he tells and shows you how to target the harder parts of your body. 5 minute office workout...I bookmarked it so I wouldn't loose it.
