Hoping this works for you....remember you can add this to anything. Add it to your eggs, yogurt...etc. If you add it to hot...mix it with something first...it does better.

What was the first food you ate when allowed soft foods?
FatPharm posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was advised by the nutritionist to start with Greek yogurt. My program doesn't do purees at all. Just clear liquid/protein shakes straight to stage 2 soft food with 3 "meals" a day. What was you first soft food and how did you do with it? Did it go down well? -

I want refried beans badly. I'm allowed to start my soft foods today. Will have Greek yogurt for breakfast. Not really wanting that for all 3 "meals," I don't think. -
What was the first food you ate when allowed soft foods?
FatPharm replied to FatPharm's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did keto for a long time pre-op and even before I thought about bariatric surgery. My program is different, I guess, in that we don't do purees or full liquids and move onto soft foods like cottage cheese and yogurt, etc. on day 10. We are allowed chicken salad, even. She said to start with Greek yogurt, which I did. -
I had my 2nd fill 3 days ago. I stayed on the liquids for a day and then slowly am trying to add soft foods. I can eat an entire yogurt, no problem . Earlier today I had a protien shake and could only drink about 3 ounces. I figured maybe I was still full from the yogurt (2.5 hours before)Tonight I tried to eat some scrambled eggs and got about 3 very small bites down, I felt horrible, it felt like something was stuck, then some came back up. I am wondering if I am too full, did I eat the wrong thing, did I eat too fast? or maybe I just need to take more time with the liquids. Is this normal? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Just 3 days to my lapband surgery and the anxiety is getting high... The bariatric nurse at the hospital gave 5 of us (all band patients) a 2 1/2 hour seminar about the procedure from start to finish...She was amazing!! Today I got my Final Final Final clearance from my physician and he is extremely happy for me. I have so much great support and I am soooo ready for this...I want to join the weight loss party so badly!! I see so many bandsters losing weight and it gives me such inspiration and motivation. I hope that I will also be an inspiration for someone in the coming weeks, months and years!! Got all my meds and vitamins and protein supps today as well. Am going food shopping for my stage 2 diet for tomorrow...egg whites, low fat cottage cheese, yogurt, cream of wheat...etc...Also going for the pre-op haircut cause I gotta be stylin at the hospital when I meet my new band...Can't beleive its here...Bring it!! Peace

Type "week 3 stall" into the search box in the top right-hand corner. You will have a better idea of why you're not losing right now........ As for milk, there are many different opinions. For myself, I prefer not to have the carbs from milk in my diet as a beverage. I drink coconut milk and almond milk (both unsweeneted). There's not much taste to them, but it does a good job of substituting for milk, and they are both low calorie and low carb. Protein powders mixed well for me with both coconut and almond milk when I was using powders (I drink ready to drink (RTD) shakes now, or eat protein bars). I still eat many dairy products (yum.....cheese and yogurt), so it's not milk that I'm avoiding, as much as the carbs in regular milk (whether it's skim, 1%, 2% or whole).

Question about shakes!
CrissyRing77 replied to jroxhere's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was worried too and I'm only supposed to have 2 oz and I'm 8 weeks out...but I asked my surgeon bc I seem to be able to gulp without even thinking and was worried I was messing everything up, he said nope this is normal bc your tummy is a sleeve and especially depending on how vertical the portion is that remains it may nearly go straight through you! No worries! My bet is if you are in mushies or when you can start adding some dense proteins you will be full must faster! I still am barely able to finish two oz, so for example I am supposed to have 4TBSP of food(yes 2oz) so last night I had 2TBSP Taco Ground Beef(heated) then topped it with 2 TBSP Cottage Cheese, so all protein and I had to stop with one to two small bites left. If it was Greek yogurt it woulda gone down super easy. Hope that helps some! -
Unflavored protein powder, just started full liquids, how do you use it?
Bufflehead replied to The Laughing Cat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can stir unflavored protein powder into lots of things: soup, broth, yogurt, and cottage cheese, for example. If you are allowed to eat things like mashed potatoes or oatmeal, you can use it there too. But keep the amounts small or it will taste funky. For example, I used a half of a scoop of the Syntrax Nectar in my chai tea (approx. 8 ounces of tea). Be careful mixing into anything hot -- you need to test it with a food thermometer and make sure it is under 140 degrees or the protein will denature and clump, which is truly nasty. I find it works best with things that have a pretty strong flavor of their own and which are more on the savory side than sweet. -
When you have surgery you're told eat your Proteins first, then fruit & veggie then carbs. I have found anytime anyone is on a portein based diet has stinky breath. Happened to me when I was doing the Atkins diet and same with my friends on that diet. Keeping gum and/or mints with you helps. It just hides it a bit anyway because the bad breath is coming from what's sitting in your stomach. Alot of people make the mistake of thinking it's all in your teeth in gums...that's part of it but, it's more of whats in your tummy. Fortunately there are plenty of very strong sugar free mints and gums out there to give us a hand with this. When i'm finally banded I'm going to give the yogurt a shot too. Thanks for that tip!

The ricotta bake from Eggface was on my dietician's list of suggested puree foods. I loved it! I only made 1/4 recipe at a time though. There are lots of other recipes here! http://theworldaccor...reed-foods.html I was only allowed Protein rich foods on purees, no fruits, veggies, or grains, so I did a lot of refried Beans, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and poached eggs in addition to different kinds of meat that I would puree in my food processor with some sort of tasty sauce/liquid. Some of my favorite combos: --thai spice tuna pureed with sriracha sauce --sweet & spicy tuna pureed with low carb bbq sauce --rotisserie chicken (no skin!) pureed with low carb bbq sauce, sriracha sauce, or peanut satay sauce --chicken pureed with marinara sauce and nuked in the microwave with mozzarella cheese --ground beef pureed with vodka sauce or tartufata sauce --lemon dill salmon pureed with olive oil mayo (the types of fish are those flavored tuna and salmon pouches you can pick up at the grocery store). --sauteed shrimp sauteed with garlic aioli & mayo or remoulade

All kinds of bathroom problems
Lochnessamber posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last chance to skedaddle on out of this thread, I'm diving right into this hog mess. Onset of symptoms: week 3. Duration of symptoms: 2 weeks. Symptoms in question: constipation, diarrhea, intense pain sometimes accompanied by nausea, itching, occasional bleeding, dryness/irritation. Diet: 2-3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder and splenda at each meal. 4-5 meals daily. Supplement protein needs with Premier chocolate protein (pre-mixed). Have tried under the advisement of my doctor: more water, suppositories (have helped bleeding), hemorrhoid wipes, drinking more water, triple paste (diaper cream), exercising more, probiotics, more water. Have tried against medical advice: more fiber. I actually went home early today because I wasnt getting any work done with all my crying trips to the bathroom. I had only 5oz of my protein drink (instead of 11) and only ate 2 tbsps of yogurt at all today. Considering calling in tomorrow. TL;DR I'm really hoping that with all of this info yall will be able to point out something glaringly obvious that I am doing wrong so I can bring this suffering to an end. 😂 -
Not losing a great deal of weight on the pre-op diet
Bufflehead replied to C2CFOREVER's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Why cheese? If you are going to eat dairy, IMO yogurt is a healthier choice. And why fruit instead of green veggies? Green veggies are much lower carb. All that said, losing 1 kg in a week is great IMO. Does your bariatric team have a specific goal that you must meet? It sounds like it, from your post, but personally I think expecting more than 1 kg/week is a high and kind of cruel standard. -
Stalled :(
playlikeworldchamps replied to lindsey1619's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have to share that once I limited my sugar grams to less than 25g a day weight just comes off. Slowly but off. I allow myself 50 total sugar grams to account for sugar in Greek yogurt and any milk sugars. I use dannon Greek 80 calorie yogurt and mix it with fage to get tons of Protein. I strive for at least 80g protein a day. I also added strength training so built muscle. this has gotten me too the finish. I lost 110 lbs in 9 months and this change got me the next 25 in 6 more months. I don't worry about fat or other carbs too much. my diet is usually 45-50% fat a day. my losing calories were 1300 a day. I am 5-10 but I think it is best for most people to eat at least 1200 to avoid deficiencies. just my opinion though. good luck. -
Breakfast ideas that don't involve EGGS!
untfluter replied to thecooley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too really like the Greek Yogurt..I use the Chobani brand... I really like the Peach one the best... I buy it at my grocery store, but I have never seen it at my Walmart.... you say you don't like yogurt, try the Greek Yogurt, it is thicker then the regular yogurt, so you might find that you like it. -
HOw long did it take to have a bm after surgery?
Mamacj replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry too much about the bm, as long as you are passing gas and not feeling constipated or bloated. For protein, I really like the whey protein 'Body Fortress' from Wal-Mart add skim milk and its like 30 grams per serving. You can also get benefiber (odorless, tasteless) it adds 6gms to anything, soup, yogurt, protein drinks, etc. -
Which shakes have the most protein?
Veda replied to Ellie4me's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Premier is the best I can find. Bariatric Advantage is what my surgeon required, but it made me sick to my stomach and it doesn't have as much Protein as Premier. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese have helped me up my protein, especially when I make my own Protein shakes using the greek yogurt. -
Breakfast ideas that don't involve EGGS!
ParrotheadCathy replied to thecooley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't like "regular" yogurt but I LOVE Greek yogurt with honey. Another poster on this site suggested it to me. I was very leary because I really, really don't like yogurt but she promised me it was different. I tried a version that was vanilla flavored and that went right in the trash, LOL. But the honey was fantastic. I buy Greek Gods Greek Yogurt with Honey at Kroger. But Fage and Chobani are two other brands and I think WalMart carries one or both of those. Grits. yeah, I'm a Southern girl alright! I cook them in the microwave, add a little Promise "margarine" and a little bit of shredded low fat cheese and really enjoy that. -
Breakfast ideas that don't involve EGGS!
AirKuhl replied to thecooley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't worry about the carbs in oatmeal. Oatmeal has a low glycemic index along with being high in fiber, so it's a "good" carb. On top of that, it tends to be filling and stays filling for a while. Just watch out for the flavored kind with lots of added sugar, I suggest getting plain and flavoring it yourself, I keep a shaker of cinnamon/Splenda blend just for oatmeal and greek yogurt. -
I don't cook. Eat lots of sliced low sodium chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese, apple sauce, quest bars, nuts, etc.

Deb, You're new and I can't tell how far out from surgery you are. Are you still on any type of liquid or mushy diet? If so, follow your doctor's instructions on types of foods to eat to the letter. If not, I find that a Fiber One bar, Curves granola bar, or a half cup of Fiber One Cereal keeps me full in the morning, since there is more bulk to it and it takes longer to digest. Given what you have been eating, I am not surprised you are hungry. Plus, unless the yogurt is low sugar, it is going to give you a quick sugar boost and then a big dip that will make you really hungry and give you the shakes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no snacking. Might as well tell me not to breathe. The idea of three meals of solid food every day is great in theory, if we had an hour to spend at each meal. Most of us don't, and that's why I count calories--to be sure I am eating enough to stop my hunger but not so much I can't continue to lose weight. If you aren't eating enough at a meal to stop your hunger, then you haven't finished the meal. If you haven't finished the meal and eat more, you're not snacking, you're still eating breakfast! There are as many theories on how to lose and not be hungry as there are bandsters. You need to find what works for YOU. What isn't going to work is to feel like you are starving all the time. Change up the types of foods you are eating, and find what will keep you satisfied while allowing you to lose weight.

When I have stress ( working with preschool teachers, parents, and the kids are the easy ones!) you bet my band gets tight! I then have to think about my diet choices. Often deli neat and cheese slices, soup, cottage cheese with yogurt, etc. really can range on tightness of my band each day...I'm 18 months banded.

Unjury Unflavored
O.T.R. sleever replied to kjntwins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has a slight milky taste. Kinda like watered down powered milk. I personally use the unflavored to add protein to milk based foods like yogurt, cottage cheese, ranch dressing, etc.
