Yes, that happened to me. Your fill is now "settled" and you have to learn a new way of eating with this one. I would guess this is either #2 or #3, correct? Each one is different!!! You will not be able to tolerate some foods you could before the fill, you also have to eat differently (much slower and smaller bites), you probably shouldn't try to eat until late morning or early afternoon and you HAVE to follow the drinking guidelines right now. If you're cold, stressed, just finished a vigorous activity or are anxious don't try to eat or drink anything until you are back to normal. Never wait until you are actually hungry to eat and don't expect to eat your normal amounts - it could be reduced by as much as half, so find another way to get your calories in, like Protein shots. Your next fill will result in something totally different and you will have to adapt to how that will affect you the same way you have to do now.

I noticed this about a week ago I guess, when you put in fitness on Myplate, every excercise is 0/cal burned now. When I first started Myplate, it would have a formula and plug in what you've burned in calories. It stopped working and still isn't. Is this happening for everyone or is mine broken?

Hi everyone, Been lurking around alot, not posting too much but keeping up with everyone. Just thought I'd check in and say hey. I'm about four months out and doing well. Only, the past two days I've been STARVING!!! It's not my time of the month so I wonder what gives? I do have restriction because I've been getting the golfball sometimes, but I am soooooo hungry no matter how often I eat! I'd been doing great up to now and have lost 33 pounds, had great restriction, not too much not too little. Currently at 1cc in a 4cc band. I go for another fill next week (it's only been five weeks since my last one). I wonder if I simply need a fill. Lately I can feel food "plopping" into my tummy after I swallow and after getting the golfball sensation. Anyone else feel this? It's like it's plopping right out of my pouch and into my big stomach! Would love to hear from anyone with similar problem. Hope my fill next week takes care of this hunger!!! Let me list what I've eaten so far today (and I'm sitting here with my tummy rumbling): Luna Bar: 180 calories 5 medium shrimp, lightly fried: 150 calories Brocolli: 20 calories 3 Dunkin Donuts Munchkins: 200 calories (I know this is bad!!!) 1/2 a bagel: 160 calories 1/2 ounce cream cheese: 50 calories Jam, 1 tsp: 25 calories Latte, homemade: 50 calories (half cup milk) Total: 835 and I haven't even had dinner yet which will probably be like 500 calories or more so I am going over my goal of 1,000 and I'm STARVING!!! Anyone with similar story?

Do you still enjoy wine (or alchohol in general) after sleeve?
myrori replied to johnm's topic in Food and Nutrition
My new drink is Cranberry and vodka with a a twist of lime. I have it like once a week. If I have not eaten I am drunk fast on one drink, but it also wears off before dinner is over. Vodka has zero carbs and 55 calories. I use cranberry juice light. -
Does Exercise Help/Hinder Feeling Restricted?
aus_colleen replied to vapors1's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I am a gym junkie now. . to the extent my personal trainer kicked me out the gym on Thursday night at 8:30pm because she is scared i am going to get burn out. Since living at the gym i find i eat more and get less problems with blocking and PBing. I can eat a decent amount and can eat a decent amount in about 4 hours time because my body burns the food so much faster, but if i didnt excersice then the second meal would be a lot harder to get through because i would still be full from the first meal. I also find with working out so much i hunt for foods that will give me energy in the gym and sustain my energy because i am on a non liquid calorie diet, so all i drink is Water or green tea, so no coke or sustigen etc. . . Good luck with ya excersise endevors -
Eat Like Me, Lose Like Me

I love how you love your daughter so much to share about her here! What a dad! Like so many have stated above it comes down to tracking food in and exercise out! I can see from being newly sleeved that besides my emotional hunger-needing to be over-full, my body needs a lot less calories than I was giving it! All my prior 'diets' worked, for a while, as long as my calories were very restricted. Whether it was portion control (Jenny Craig, WW) or exercising to burn off excess cals. as soon as I stopped-I gained! I hope for her sake and from seeing what you and your wife have gone through with obesity that she gets a grip on her 30 pounds before it's 40 than 50! I never would have dreamed as a young girl that so much if my adult life wound be consumed with weight loss! I wish I "got it" in my teens when the yo-yo-ing started! Good luck to your 2 pounds to goal-fabulous!! -
Pop/beer making the band erode???
WestCoastFatGuy replied to bperkins11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's where logic has to take over. My surgeon allows patients to 'try' carbonated beverages after 6 months. On further questioning he also recommends doing so on an empty stomach. Here's the deal... on an empty stomach the soda can go through the stoma more easily into the 'lower stomach'. If the pouch is full (the stoma is blocked), the carbonation can build up in the pouch and cause discomfort or more. Bottom line... no one really knows for sure whether or not carbonation can lead to pouch enlargement (and subsequent band slippage). Caution is the best guide. I truly only miss one thing from my old eating lifestyle... Coke and Pepsi. From time to time I'll have a small Coke slurpee or, more recently, use the 'slush mug' that a friend sent me that freezes beverages similar to a slurpee. I don't have the carbonation and (if I count the calories into my daily allotment) I'm able to have a bit of the taste that I miss so much. -
how much are you eating? You say not much, but is that compared to pre-op? You should be able to eat 2-3 ounces of Protein, 1/4-1/2 cup of veggies at a meal and feel full. Remember, full now means NOT HUNGRY--not Thanksgiving day stuffed. You should feel "full" for 3-4 hours after eating. You might need another fill if you aren't tight enough. But you might be tight enough, but getting in too many calories or too few calories or not enough protein or not enough Water. How's the exercise? You lose weight when calories in is less than calories out. The band helps us to limit our calories in, but it's up to us to manage the equation. jayme

Just a quick little update. All is going well. I have my monthly appointment next week with the doctor to see how my weight loss is going. I've lost 7 lbs since I saw him three weeks ago. I don't think I need another fill. I can overeat if I want to (not like before but more than I should). I just try to stop when I am full. I seem to eat small snacks throughout the day mostly. I usually try to consume less than 2000 calories a day- but it's normally between 1200-1500 a day. I still don't exercise like I should. One of these days... right? Hope all of you out there are doing good on your band journey. Take care.

Yes it's normal for many of us. We've been on pre-ops, we're eating nothing now. Our bodies are starving and they let us know. While some feel no hunger, many of us seem to feel hungry when it's time to eat. The saving grace for now seems to be that a little food satisfies us, and we don't seem to need to eat for another little while. As you are able to eat more, you will be able to go longer between mini-meals. I'd suggest that you track total calories and don't exceed your guidelines, and other than that, don't worry about it.

I use myfitnesspal.com. It's easy, free and you can track exercise. You can customize it to YOUR nutrition goals like calories, protein, etc.

I am not a dr but If you are going over the protein but not the calories I do not see how that would be harmful.

Suggested Calories
Linnielady replied to jayeljay613's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Floridays, I am 4 weeks post op and was told by my nutritionist to eat around 1200 calories a day. I'm sure that I'm not eating that much. I would say more like 1000. I will go in for a fill on Feb 1st. I do hope for some more restriction with that fill. I am having to use some willpower for sure but trying to keep my Protein high so as to help with hunger. By the way I live in St Pete. Dr. Huguet did my surgery, How long have you been banded for? Hope to hear from you soon. -
My surgeon is strict with meals...each meal consists of 3 oz of lean Protein and 2 oz of a Fiber carb, measured by volume after cooking. I was advised to make good food choices, and not count calories. Each surgeon seems to have a variation on the "rules", so it is best to check with the doctor's office to know what you should be doing for your meals. I agree with others, consulting with a dietitian (nutritionist) would be very beneficial for you. Best wishes...

I am almost 8 weeks post op and my Dr told me not to worry about calories to just make sure I drank my 64 oz of water a day and make sure I get between 60 and 80 grams of protein a day. Well I have been able to do that but started tracking what I eat on a app on my phone and for the last 2 weeks I average between 700 and 800 calories a day and was wondering if that was either too many or not enough? I know some of you have to count your calories so I was just wondering what your Dr's suggested when it came to this. I am still losing weight although I have had 2 stalls but down almost 35 pounds since surgery.

I have popcorn on occasion, no issues with it. I have Act II 94% fat free, 15 calories per cup, popped. It's no no guilt way to satisfy that salty crunchy, snacky craving.

3 1/2 weeks out and weight is yo-yoing
reverie replied to Jae2011bandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body takes 6 weeks minimum to heal. Stay off the scale or drive yourself crazy. Your body isn't going to shed pounds after it just underwent a highly invasive surgery. You may feel good on the outside but internally you're still healing; proper healing requires nutrients and calories. -
Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the input. I do know that they more dense food I eat the longer I stay full. I am loving beans and cheese right now! lol I am only a few lbs from goal and can't wait! Most days I am getting about 1000 calories in.. So I guess I am right on track.

Niterun - Thanks for the post. You should be proud of yourself! I am scheduled for surgery March 10 and I have to admit, since it was scheduled a week ago - it's definitely last supper syndrome. Not that I'm eating everything I think I can't have after surgery, I'm just overeating, about 1800 cal a day. I know it could be worse, but I set out every day intending to stick to 1200 calories - was doing well and down 10 pounds until my surgery was scheduled - talk about crazy! I'm up about 3 pounds from my doctor appointment a month ago. I might try what you are doing. It may help me get in the mindset that surgery really is right around the corner. I just started a routine exercise program - gave up the gym - it just wasn't for me. I enjoy walking, have some exercise videos, etc. Im doing okay on my Water and don't have caffeine or soda, but I really need to practice chewing like crazy. That's something I really have to work hard at remembering to do. I've wolfed my food my whole life. Again, thanks for the inspiration and congratulations!!! Please keep me posted on how you are doing. Send me a message anytime.

Not loving this Sleeve this week......soft rant....sorry Felipe
BabySheldon posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing but problems this week. 1. "Shark week" - lots of pain and could only take children's ibuprofen. (Approved by my surgeon) but its disgusting! 1a. I asked the pharmacist if i could open the gel-caps and mix with food.....did that and nearly choked to death.....went down the pipe tho :-) 2. Tried to eat eggs for the first time and it was a complete and total disaster! 1/4 tbsp was all that was needed. Took Felipe 6 hours to digest.. 3. Still can't swallow any pills and there is no way in h/ll that I am going to attempt to consume any Vitamins. 4. I have tried every possible Protein shake concoction and little miss sleeve is not having any of it...2 oz.....thats it and its a wrap for Felipe. 5. Constipation....my nurse says I should not live on laxatives but if I don't Felipe shuts down and i cant eat, drink or medicate.....ugggg... 6. I tried working out, which was great...but with 200 or less calories a day, it was just unsustainable... 7. Now I'm back at work full time. My brain needs protein to write these complex contracts...but i cant get it in....:-( Ok, i'm done with my Felipe bashing.....i just want to feel better without so many obstacles... Shelby I really want this to work....my issues or not around struggling to stay on plan or head hunger....my struggle is that my sleeve is my sole source of nutrition and I have to rely on a 3 1/2 week old for everything....and she's doing the best she can, with the tools she has, for right now. -
I know what to eat(drink), but how much?
als74 replied to als74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not told how much to eat, and the doc and dietician at the bariatric center told me different things as well. I have had less than 700 calories today, and actually had two eggs (over easy with 0 cal spray). My hubby mentioned that two eggs was a lot. I know I probably shouldn't have had eggs on the full liquid diet, but I needed to eat something different. I am having no restriction. Thanks for the response on the healing not loosing. I actually haven't lost anything in the last couple days, and thought it might be due to eating the oatmeal, cot. cheese, and soup. One other question. I see a lot of people talking about jerkey. I would have thought that would be totally off the menu. what's up with that? -
I was banded on 9/8 as well, and was worried about the same thing. I am a full-time college student, and the lack of energy that comes from not eating just isn't an option for me. My doctor said to up my Protein shakes to 3X a day, and even do the non-low fat ones if I needed to. That way I'd at least be getting about 1000 calories in.

Has anyone done a 1200 calorie diet for like 2 months straight (eating healthier foods) and then cheated and ate something you haven't had since before your diet then had an allergic reaction to it? I cheated on Christmas day and then again yesterday and ended up having my throat close up on me, could hardly breathe. I didn't eat anything new that I've never eaten before.. just hadn't eaten those things for the past 2 months. I feel like my body is punishing me for cheating lol Thankfully though those situations made me decide I'm not cheating again. Sent from my G60 using BariatricPal mobile app

5-weeks Post-Op and not really losing
Jonna posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5-weeks Post-op today and I really haven't lost but about 5lbs, I am watching what I eat and my calorie intake. I go back August 17th for my first fill and so afraid they will be upset with me not losing anymore than I have. I did start exercising about 2-weeks ago, going to the gym 4x per week. Is this normal not to lose a whole lot of weight until you get a fill? I have no problem eating just about anything, but do notice I can't eat as much as I used too.
