  2. I am so glad you are doing well.....however you body is still healing....and even if you feel like joggin 10 miles don't....so leave those boxes alone for a while...no heavy lifting is one of the things that should be on your release sheet. Check with your Dr. who knows your physical abilities better than we do... You dont want to set yourself back....so please be careful.. Good luck in your journey.....we are fairly close together in time

    Pre op diet

I was strictly low carb for the week before surgery. I was drinking low carb EAS protein shakes and eating baked chicken breast or baked pork loin. I didn't really count calories as much as I tracked my carbs, trying to stay below 10 carbs per day. I lost 10lbs that week.
  4. For me i am blessed with insurance that does not make you have a waiting period!! Whew! My requirements are BMI of 40 or BMI of 35 with other health problems. I suffer from severe hypertension even with medications. I just have to have a nutrition consult and a psych consult and an EGD. I am scheduled for the 27th for the two consults and my doc said he would preform the EGD the next week. He said it all is good i can be scheduled for the end of OCT but i want to wait until after Halloween due to a pre planned trip. I am just scared i am going to have this procedure and lose like 10 pounds!! I know i am just being crazy but I am just so tired of living in this body!!
  5. My MDs diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery include: 10 oz lean protein/day 2 servings of fruit 2+ servings vegetables at least 64 oz water/day no grains at all and no Protein suplements before.
  6. I hate that stuff I have to take 10 oz. picked mine up today:( that stuff is nasty lol

    Pre Op Diet ?

Hello.... My surgery date is 2/22/10 im excited however, I am on a 2week liquid diet and it is VERY HARD! I did good for the first 2 days and I broke down and had a small order of fries from mcdonalds. Do you think that's going to harm me?

    Time to reset!

It took me at least 10 months to lose 60 pounds aT a year out I'm down 98 pounds. we all lose at our own rate. 60 pounds is excellent!

    Time to reset!

Wait what? You are disappointed to have "only" lost 60 pounds in 4 months?!?!?! That's an average of 15 pounds a month! I didn't even lose 15 pounds my first month post-op. And after that I averaged about 6 pounds per month for the next several months. Now I'm happy with TWO pounds a month! Sounds to me like you set some very unrealistic expectations for yourself. Can I ask you a very serious question? Why do you feel you need to lose the weight so quickly? I lost weight MUCH more slowly than you have and now I'm only 3.6 pounds from goal. Even though I lost weight "slowly", I'm still reaching my goal. I'm still way happier and healthier than I've ever been. Why does it matter how long it takes you to get there, as long as you get there eventually? This isn't a diet. Once you are at goal, you won't be "done". Your WLS is forever. Ten years from now when you are enjoying your happy, healthy life, is it going to matter that it took you 18 months to reach your goal weight instead of 12? NOPE! PS: Just did the math. It took me 10 months to lose 60 pounds....
  13. I just left my surgeons office I was supposed to have my first fill today. I found out 2 cc were put in my 10 cc band at surgery which explains why I'm not hungry. I've lost 3.5 lbs in 3 weeks with just walking. My surgeon said this is excellent as most patients gain weight after surgery. I got clearance to lift weights YAY! I'm satisfied with this, as long as I'm losing its all good.

    No liquid diet?

My surgeon had no special diet. I was just to not eating anything or drink anything after midnight. My surgery went great and I am 10 weeks out and doing wonderful. Personally I am very happy I didn't have to do a liquid diet. I would have failed for sure.. Just remember every surgeon is different and every program is different. Have faith in your surgeon and his program..
  15. I had surgery on 9/10 and went back for a half day Friday and back full today. I walked two miles last night and was tired but felt good. I hardly took any pain meds. Was pretty much ibuprofen by Wednesday. I am very healthy and pretty fit( as much as you can be at 120lbs overweight.). I an just getting tired easily. So when I need to sit and relax, I do. No manual labor here though. Just in sales.

June 19! Sent from my DROID RAZR using LapBandTalk
  17. Thank you both for the great advice. I do try to plan my meals out. I usually have a granola bar and yogurt for breakfast, a lean cuisine or smart one and a sugar free pudding for lunch, and two healthy snacks one at 10 and one at 3. Dinner seems to be the problem. I plan a healthy meal but end up overeating so it doesn't even matter how healthy it was b/c I end up having 3-4 servings. My main problems are eating out and portion control in the evening. @laylasmonjo - I bought the womens Once a Day vitamin but everytime I take it I throw up if I don't eat something IMMEDIATELY after. I mean like take it and then shove something else down there before it comes up. I guess I just have a really sensitive gag reflex. I will try to see if I can find something that goes down better. My other thing is that it is just me and my son so we have a lot left over and it usually gets wasted if I don't eat it. Thank you for the support. @tdov1 - I loved my crockpot but mine caught fire and charred the wires. lol! I had it on the stove and turned on the wrong burner. I need to get a new one. I tried WW too and it worked very well for me but I don't have the money right now and keeping track of the points was really time consuming. Thanks for your great advice.

I need someone to ease my mind (money matters)

Have you considered looking into self pay? Some of the OOC options might be less expensive than your copay. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Pre op diet

my pre-op wasn't liquid. it was 3 meals of 3 oz of Protein, 1 cup cooked veggie or 2 cup raw veggie, 1 starch (1 slice toasted whole grain bread less 80 cals/ 5 saltines/1/2 c beans/ 1/2 c squash/yams) for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was same, except had 1/2 c fruit and 1/2 c cooked veg. get 64 oz liquids. wait 1 hour to drink after eat, 10 minutes to eat after you drink. no beverages with more than 20 cals/8oz, no carbonated beverages, no caffeine, no straws, no gum. it i ended up losing almost 50 pounds.
  21. Wow 20 lbs! My doctor gave me a limit of 10 lbs for the first 6 weeks. I would call your doctor since you are having new pain. They may be able to just ease your mind
  22. I'm starting my pre-op diet and I have the first 10 days of no starches, sugars, & low fat/carb only...what can I eat?? I think protein shakes are disgusting so please don't say that lol anything else would help!! Thanks!!

    One week to go!

10:30 but not set in stone yet. I was hoping for an earlier time.

    Why? Why?

my surgeon said that it is not only for the liver but to show that you are committed. i have to loose 10% (30 pounds) before i can get a date.
  25. Well, my pcp's first comment was "one of my patients died 5 days after having wls... try getting that out of your head! of course turns out that patient had a ton of other issues which should have prevented her from getting surgery in the first place but that only comes out after you prod and ask. figures... One sort of has to believe they'll be OK, right? i've found it very difficult finding testimonials of people who regret doing wls that aren't completely cuckoo... If you find any non-crazy reports of people could you share? most regret videos I watched are either too soon after surgery or the presentation style makes it somewhat difficult to take them serious but I have been looking. I especially am looking to hear from people 5-10 years out.
