This is a very rude statement. According to the rules of this site: Posts that are forbidden include, but are not limited to, the following: Rude posts. This is a first time poster and I find the content of the OP to be rather questionable. There is an artifact left in the account that makes me believe it was lifted off the Internet. The artifact is < /span>. The <span> tag is an inline container used to mark up a part of a text, or a part of a document. In reviewing the post, I asked the questions WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN. The where an the when appears to be the Seattle, Washington area around 9 February 2019, that is the date of the SNOWMAGEDDON in 2019 that struck the Seattle Area dumping 4-8 inches of snow. To support this observation, in the article it mentions the West Side, which is part of Seattle. It mentions Richmond Hospital. There is Richmond Internal Medicine hospital located in Shoreline, WA. It mentions St. Paul's Hospital, but from my perspective this is not really a hospital but rather it is a small clinic called St. Paul's Medical Clinic in Seattle. One of the things that attracted my attention was SNOWMAGEDDON 2019. The OP said it dropped 20 cm. of snow. Who in the U.S. would say 20 cm instead of 8 inches? The whole article is overly melodramatic. The OP identifies Dr. Kantner as an Obesity Specialist. There is a Dr. Jenny Kanter who received her PhD from the University of Washington in Pathology in 2010, with a specific focus on myeloid cells inflammation in the development of diabetes-accelerated atherosclerosis. Her specialty includes diabetic kidney disease. So this may be the WHO. But another thing that attracted my attention was the article opened with her diagnosis of advanced liver fibrosis. Liver fibrosis can be a very serious condition. Liver fibrosis is the excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix proteins including collagen that occurs in most types of chronic liver diseases. Advanced liver fibrosis results in cirrhosis, liver failure, and portal hypertension and often requires a liver transplant. It can be a life ender. This is a serious medical condition. Some research seems to indicate that gastric bypass surgery can help with this condition but only sometimes. So although the OP seems focused on the bariatric surgery component, the liver fibrosis disorder is very serious complication. Another thing that bothered me was the OP description of the surgery. Gastric bypass is a complex surgery. When I had it done several years ago, I was in the hospital for 2 days after surgery. This was routine. A few years have passed since then but bringing someone home the same day of surgery seems rather unwise. Yet that is what the OP expected. The OP mentioned that the sleeve had come loose. What does that mean exactly? There can be several complications associated with sleeve surgery. So revisions may be needed sometimes, I haven't heard of a sleeve coming loose. There is a form of weight loss surgery called Lap-Band surgery. In this procedure, a bariatric surgeon places a a silicone ring with an expandable balloon around the upper part of the stomach. This creates a new, smaller stomach pouch. These bands have been known to come loose and slip and need adjustments. During the gastric sleeve operation, around 80% of the stomach is removed. The remaining section of the stomach is formed into a tube-like shape about the size and shape of a banana.

I'm looking at other's post and every seems to be doing so well with no regrets. I just had a piece of salmon and threw it up. I want to cry. The only thing I can seem to keep down is quiche. I'll fill out my profile but in the meantime I had the sleeve in 2012 and I just had a bypass revision on July 27th. So far I've lost 30 lbs. Thank you for your words of wisdom. It helps a lot.

Hi Everyone, I was here years ago, after I had lap band surgery which was a total waste of time. Had that redone a year after on the advice of my surgeon. Still didn't lose any weight and gave up for years. Recently had a revision to sleeve done with a different surgeon, they took out the band, waited 3 months and then did the sleeve 9/9. What interested me in the sleeve was the reduction of ghrelin. Not being hungry. Well I've been hungry since it was done. I'm following all the protocols but am really worried. Doctor said I can do the purees early, started that today. Can sense a tiny difference because I ate something warm - a little better than broth but not enough. I can drink as much as I want, and am able to eat a protein shake with 2 full scoops of protein with soy milk. Has anyone had a delayed start when noticing they were no longer hungry? I know the goal is real food and am looking forward to that but I don't understand why I am so hungry, and freezing - I'm so cold all the time! If anyone is going to write anything about head hunger please save it. I know the difference. I'm down 7 lbs, including what I lost before surgery, doesn't seem a lot given the liquid diet. I want this to work very badly, enough to have done 4 laparoscopic surgeries to be here. Thyroid and general health are good. I would be sincerely grateful for helpful advice, Thanks

Weight loss after VSG to RNY Revision?
Coexister replied to scoutmom's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I too am scheduled for a revision to bypass on October 7, 2020 per issues with GERD. I gained 7 to 15 llbs (it goes up and down) but never did reach goal weight but have been ok with where I am at. My original surgery was done 12/26/2018 along with a hiatal hernia repair and I read above a mention of thrush, I had that with the VSG so I am wondering if I will have that issue once again with the bypass? My GERD got so bad that it is hurting my vocal chords and caused some bleeding and so I am ready to get the acid under control. Apparently my hiatal hernia repair came undone and so they will do another repair on this as well why doing the revision. I am a little nervous about it all and wondering if it will be harder? Wondering if I will go through that huge energy loss again or if will not be so bad since the body has been trough it once and the hormones don't have that big of a re-adjustment? This will be my 15th surgery and I just hope my body can handle it. I don't have any issues with dumping and can pretty much eat anything in very small portions and am wondering if that will change with revision? So I am back to this fabulous forum looking for answers. -

Revision surgery pre op diet
m.simpson88 replied to Jsteelecat's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hello, I had a revision surgery a year ago. The only way I got through the liquid diet was hot beverages. Hot tea and decaf coffee. Sweetened with calorie free sweetener and if I wanted creamer I used fat free half and half with sugar free/calorie free flavored syrups. They curbed my hunger and still do. Same for hot soup and broth. I drank it as hot as I could stand. I tried to also keep myself full off water. The key is to make sure you try to stay ahead of your hunger with the approved options. Try to consume something every 2-3 hours. -
Anyone for September 2020?
dorkyfaerie replied to vsg_britt_091420's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was this morning (revision from sleeve to bypass for GERD). So far I am doing very well and much better than I did at this point after sleeve. I’m already walking the whole hallway and have passed my sips test, so am drinking water and watered down apple juice. I am so happy I went through with this! -

you might. Like I said, we see so few posts on this type of revision that it's hard to see the big picture. -
Surgery date before insurance approval?
MISTY_CEE035 replied to Kaybop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello From my experiences when I underwent the Lapband procedure in 2009 and my revision WLS Gastric Bypass in 2016, I did not wait for the office to tell me anything. I got on the phone and asked if my insurance covers WLS. The other question you want to ask the insurance company are there any particular medical requirements in effort to be approved for WLS? You may want to ask also at the time of admission if approved do I have a copay at the time of admission? There are some insurance companies that require a copay ans some donot. I have never heard of a surgeon perform WLS and not receive an authorization for the service that is rendered. I hope my information is helpful and do not hesitate to ask anything. I am Post Op 11 years and still in the journey. This is a longterm journey of challenges. Missy Cee -
Anyone had a revision to original gastric bypass?
mcfluffington replied to Jsteelecat's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a revision from gastric bypass. Only my surgeon went the other way he gave me a sleeve and did a SIPS a kind of mini Duodenal switch. Unfortunately, it didn't help me lose any weight. It wasn't a total loss I no longer have diarrhea. But I was in tremendous pain. Good luck with your plan but remember its what you put in your mouth more than anything that determines weight loss. A lots of these people who are successful are on very low calorie diets and stick to them. I thought I could get the magic bullet again by have my intestines operated on again. but it didn't work for me. Right now I am trying optifast. and so it goes... -

Anyone had a revision to original gastric bypass?
Jsteelecat posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had a revision to an original gastric bypass surgery. I’m going in and having my pouch made smaller. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and what my outcome might look like. Thanks -
I did years of research before even coming to the surgeon and was dead set on sleeve and thought nobody could sway me. But then I got all my doctors' opinions (yeah lots of comorbidities), and a few suggested RnY and had good reasons. I went a bit nuts on the internet looking at studies and thinking about how my weight likes to creep up silently because of menopause and decided that RnY would help more with that "creep" than the sleeve, I also like how I might "dump" to discourage me from overindulging when I lose my willpower. I also don't want to get sleeve and then get GERD and have to get a revision. I had the "pill stuck in my throat" feeling when I was taking an antibiotic a few months ago and I HATED IT SO MUCH. I want to do this once. Who knows what my insurance will be like in a few years. But... you do you! My good friend got sleeve 5 years ago and is so successful.

Revision surgery pre op diet
Jsteelecat posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am having revision surgery in October. Going in to have my pouch made smaller and the hole made smaller. I’m super nervous because I’m hungry ALL THE TIME. I have no idea how I am going to make the pre op liquid diet for two weeks. Does anyone have any tips? Has anyone had success with a gastric bypass revision? -
10 months out bathroom problems?
mcfluffington replied to Isabelmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could have the other problem. I had diarrhea running down my leg when I was several years out. Probably too much something in my diet. but I had a revision and BOOM! I now get constipated instead. LOL You just did something major to your gastrointestinal system. I think everyone has some kind of issue. I hope you find something to help you. Maybe a little more fat in your diet as well as extra fiber and water. I am not saying a lot. Just a smidge. -
I had the sleeve but I had it revised to the gastric bypass. I have gone 10 days once without having a bm. I don't have cramps I feel nothing like I don't have to go.

So my ENT diagnosed me with silent GERD. Never heard of such a thing. Had a revision in May 2020 due to hernia and GERD. Had to revised twice more in June due to some complications. Have been feeling fine then boom, come July I feel a lump In my throat. No heartburn. At my ent visit for another issue with dizziness she did a scope and said it’s acid in the throat. Not the esophagus. 🤦♀️ 🤦♀️ Don’t have a single symptom of typical heartburn just this lump. Feels like something stuck. Like a pill. I can drink and eat with no issues. It’s getting worse so she put me on Pepcid 40 At night time. Anyone have this. What did you do for it. It’s so annoying.

Band to Sleeve?!?!
Barbwired replied to JenWilks's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am getting my revision from band to sleeve on Monday, September 21st. There was no problem with the insurance covering it but I had to go through the whole program again like I did with the band so it took months. Then Covid hit and all surgeries were postponed so it's been a long wait. I got my band in 2010 and loved it and did really well, but a couple of years ago I started getting horrible GERD that was caused by the band. They had to take all the fluid out and since then I've put back on 40 pounds and I'm miserable. The fact that my gym closed and I couldn't go to my usual exercise class everyday didn't help either. I'm pretty sure your insurance will cover it, but it might take awhile if they make you go through the whole program again like they did with me. Good luck! -
Hello My name is Missy and I have been on my journey since 2009. I started with the Lapband procedure which I spent the longest amount of time from 2009 through 2015. After experiencing an erosion of my stomach in 2015 the band had to be removed and in 2016 my surgeon conducted a revision which is the Gastric Bypass. I was extremely happy at one point in my life because I began to lose weight again. Unfortunately 6 years later I am facing a slow weight loss phase in my life and I am trying to fight from getting where I once was. If anyone is experiencing any of these complications, please share and together we can overcome some of these challenges so that we can remain at our weight or improve our health.

I’m sorry did I say that carbs caused GERD? My intent was to say sleeve can cause eventual need for revision to RNY due to GERD. Carbs are a separate subject, that can cause issues with the weight weight loss phase and usually healthy carbs are for maintenance and after protein is eaten. And depends on the persons ability to process them. I’m sorry I won’t be responding to posts. I’m not very good at getting the correct message across, especially lately I’m just dealing with a lot of issues with my chronic illness. I’m not sure why it’s offensive though to discuss a strict low carb way of eating, that is beneficial for some people. Not all people process carbs very well. But it does come down to individual needs. And I’m not pushing low carb with my comment. Just saying that carbs if any comes with maintenance. And if someone has GERD it’s usually An issue after sleeve surgery. Sorry I’m stepping away now from commenting further on anymore posts since for some reason I offended you.

I'm not sure where that info is coming from, but there is no link between carbs and reflux, and certainly not to RNY revision. GERD is a complication of the sleeve due to the new stomach anatomy creating a high pressure upper GI system. There are many different post surgical diet programs, all prioritize protein, hydration and calorie deficits. But they are not all strictly low carb. There is more than one path to weight loss success.

@Keatsy honestly needed that. Not in a good place right now. But i get up and deal with the day the best I can. One step at a time even if my limitations don’t let me get too far ... reading these posts we all need to learn to be our own nutritionist on our journey. Each have our differences especially how our bodies process foods. I was trying some meals with beef and cauliflower rice and am not sure what caused a spike in my weight. I rarely if ever eat beef. Perhaps it was that it was a frozen meal (real good foods Mongolian beef bowl) guess I’ll stick to doing it my way. I’m still testing the waters with cauliflower rice. At least post gastric bypass that is. I ate it often before. I’m wondering what surgery your friend had that she is having reflux. And that she can eat so much without pains. Did she have sleeve? A lot of times with sleeve maybe the nutritionist guidelines can be more lax. Some nutritionists think carbs are ok even early on. But my nutritionist guidelines save complex, healthy carbs for maintenance and then only after having protein first so very minimal carbs. And usually from vegetables and healthy sources. It is strange how different they can be. And it can be very damaging to the success of the bariatric patient’s success. Also with sleeve that’s usually what causes eventual reflux or GERd. And then people usually end up getting revision to RNY. it’s hard to know what to say even to a friend. I was in similar position years ago a friend eating herself sick, literally but I couldn’t confront her about it. But that was a very difficult situation. If this is a close friend and she trusts you gently ask about her nutritionist and why she approves of so much carbs and sugar. Especially during the weight loss phase. Maybe just curious to compare to yours. I would think mot nutritionist guidelines would say very little if any sugar. I don’t know if it’s different for sleeve.

Hey girl regain is actually common that far out on the sleeve statistically you are not alone. You could try to get revision to d switch or you could try to lose the lbs by following plan. Also maybe consider getting apetite suppressant to help if you feel hunger. This reads more like binge so maybe make appointment w counselor -
Weight loss after VSG to RNY Revision?

I had sleeve in 2016 and then developed GERD which resulted in a hiatal hernia. On 8/3/20 had a revision to bypass and fix the hiatal hernia. So far I’ve been doing great and walking 5 miles a day. I have lost 25 lbs so far
