    My sleeve doesn't like.....

Don't eat much toothpaste here, either, but pear skins. I can feel 'em just sitting in there.

    Hiatal hernia repair

Hernias are easy to get during recovery, it's even listed as a side-effect, I threw up a couple times and thought I got one again. It could also be the way the surgeon repaired it the first time..sometimes they aren't as durable as we'd like. Ways to prevent it on basic medical journals is: Wear loose clothing during recovery. When your stomach is full, avoid bending over or lying down. Do not bend over or lie down for two to three hours after eating. Raise the head of the bed six to eight inches by using wooden blocks under the bedpost Maintain a healthy weight

    Breasts Part II (women again)

I think that in a reduction/lift you may lose some of the ducts that make milk. You may not produce "enough". But I am with the others who say that to have your breasts made all pretty before you stretch'em all out again is a waste of time, pain, skin and money. Even if you do get the oh so gorgeous 'rock in the sock' look.

    Body wraps

Yes I have. It works for that day, like if your going out and would like to wear a sexy dress, it takes off a few inches and makes your skin feel soo soft, but its not permament. I heard its good to do body wraps every few weeks to help tighten skin. But unfortunantly I wouldnt kno if thats 100% true because I only did it once lol its too expensive for me to do it every 3 weeks..its cost like $85 for 1 treatment

    Overfilled advice from Poodles

Poodles, Hey I used Benavides also. How have you done when going back to the office? I just got my first fill a few weeks ago, up to 2.2 cc in my 4cc band. I was just like you couldn't eat solids to save my life. Okay a cracker or two would go down, but no meat, no Pasta, no thick mashed potatoes, no steamed veggies, not much of anything. So I went back before Christmas for an unfill. I now have 1.8cc in my band, but now i feel like there is not much restriction. For lunch I ate one of those Michelinas diet dinners, but it was either 8 or 10 oz, so I think I am too loose now. I am contemplating going back for another filll again, even though it's only been a couple of weeks since my unfill. Kristi

    Overfilled advice from Poodles

yattila, everyone is different. I am quite full at .8 in my 4 cc band. Too full feels like you can not swallow Water. I would make a whey Protein shake in the am, and not be able to drink it unless it was really watered down. I have no idea what my "sweet spot" feels like. I like what I have now. I get full faster than unbanded, but can eat something for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Here are two examples: Too Full Day: B: coffee, whey Protein Shake L: Mushie type stuff, stuffing, mashed potatoes, spegghetiO's, etc D: lunch meat, blended chili, more mushie stuff or just sugar crap (that all goes down). Everything had to be blended, thin, or Soup like. Not so full day (today): B: 2 oz cream cheese, with 1 oz salmon, few black olives L: 4 oz tofu, 1/3 cup chicken salad Snack: SF Jello with SF Cool Whip D: Low Carb noodles with sausage and cheese, about 1 cup. Drinks: Water 40 oz (so far), frozen SF coffee, diet snapple tea I don't think I am too loose, but know that too tight was miserable. I even went to a Chinese buffet the other day and tried different things to see if they would go down. Beff, ok, some chicken, ok, crab meat, ok, chicken on a stick...no, cabbage, ok, mushrooms, ok... you get the point... Before when I went I would get egg drop soup and pray that would work. Totally miserable. I went way too long over filled. I will never go thru that hell again. Since I can eat meat now, I am doing really well on Atkins, and that says alot. Good luck. Please don't think that your fill level needs to compare to anyone elses. We are all different!!!

    Skinny Jeans!

I just got back from 2 weeks in Paris, where I felt like the most enormous and dumpy thing on the street for wearing too big loose-fit boot cut jeans nearly every day. So before I even left for home I ordered two styles of skinny Levis from Amazon, which were just delivered. And guess whose fat ass fits into a size 12 skinny jeans? Yup. ME! I'm still bigger than all the size 0 Parisians I saw but at least I'm fashionable.

REMINDER : Dallas/Fort Worth meet up

It was really great to see everyone. Linda's little one wasn't feeling well that morning so didn't get to hang out for very long. But, Anna, Kermit, Me, Avilda, and TexasT along with one of my friends Shayna enjoyed walking around the mall, talking excess skin, tummy tucks, boob jobs, and the like. Me and Anna are huggers, it's just who we are. We shopped, ate, had good conversation, and I had total "duh" moment and neglected to take pictures. I'll blame it on my enormous hangover from my night before partying out with friends. But, overall, we had a great time, and it was fabulous to put real faces with the posts.

    Personal question for Women only..XXXXX

Lookin at my own boob, I have little lumpy things too around that same area. If your concerned about them see a doctor of course. But it sounds like what I have...They are real close to the surface of the skin? Not painful...just sorta there...Sounds like its just the way you are. I think breast cancer would be more inward that on the surface. I actually saw a dermotologist about a mole I have on my one boob, and he said that some of the other lumps that I was lookin at could possibly turn to moles. He said they aren't cancerous, but if they bother me, I could have them taken off. I dont see them turning to moles just yet...but Im keeping an eye on them. And he said that moles on the breast doesn't connect to breast cancer~~ Absolutely though, have your own doctor check em if they are worrying you~ Hope this helps!

Weight loss stalled after 6 months

Congrats on the weight loss...and yes, stalls are common. I have had three in the last 9 months. I also just have another 10 pounds to go and the doctor said they will be the hardest...just keep doing what you are doing. Throw in more walking, if you can, it helps a lot and make sure you are drinking lots of Water. It will start going again. the good news is you are probably loosing inches now!

    Hair Loss

I'm not an expert by any means. I would think you have seen a dermatologist to check your scalp? Some people are destined to have balding. I personally find a few things helpful for my dry thin hair. 1. I take two caps of flaxseed oil daily as well as a multi Vitamin . 2 an hour before I shampoo, I rub olive oil into my scalp 3 shampoo with Chi shampoo 4. An apple cider rinse, about every two weeks. the flaxseed oil helps every inch of skin on my body- I swear by that one. I really noticed hair fallout after any surgical procedure, but it slows down between 4-6 months after for me. I was desperately seeking something to help stop the shedding, this routine along with letting my hair air dry, no color, no pulling into a pony tail, especially when wet - in other words, handling gently, has helped tremendously. Good luck, hope this helps you too

    Skin/Hair

Nowadays, my hair and skin are in great condition for what is normal for me - I've never ever had a problem with oily skin or hair, I tend to be quite dry and I do get a bit scaly at times. But for a while there, my hair was just snapping off, it was incredibly dry and i had to chop it all off much shorter. That all passed though.

Thanks girls... I went and had a lovely hour-long facial and massage today and my skin is feeling much better. Could have been dehydration. I'll make sure I keep up the moisturiser and try to drink more water :-)

    Body Lift

The doctor took off about 5 lbs of excess skin. He pulled down the skin from above the belly button but didnt tighten any muscles like a tummy tuck would. I still have the same beautiful effects as if he did tighten the muscles as in a "tummy tuck" . My lap band scar from the port is now down next to my new belly button as before it was right under my rib cage... I had a breakdown of the skin or "rash" that just wouldnt stay away. I do alot of standing and sitting and the band around my pants would rub against my waist until it became sore and raw.. thas how my insurance covered the panni..
  16. Dry skin flaking off the scalp and itchiness is referred to as dandruff. Dandruff is one of the most common scalp problem people are facing today. There are two main types of dandruff - dry dandruff and oily dandruff. Those with an oily skin tend to suffer from oily dandruff while those with dry skin suffer from dry dandruff. One of the popular methods of eliminating dandruff is by using anti-dandruff shampoos. But these shampoos are ineffective after some months. Nevertheless, you can cure dandruff naturally and obtain permanent relief from this condition. More and more people across the world are eagerly opting for the natural and herbal cures. There is now a very strong conviction among the general public that medicines extracted from plants and herbs used in antiquity for treatment are the best medicines, having no toxic or any other harmful effects on the human body. Natural cure, thus, forms the foundation of much modern pharmaceutical research, with more and more modern medicines being prepared from medicinal herbs and shrubs rather than synthetic chemicals. In fact, the negative effects of modern medicines and their toxic effects have led scientists to fall back upon natural products. Thus Cure Dandruff naturally is the best alternative treatment. Very often, people use natural cure for dandruff for just a week or so and as soon as the dandruff has seemed to have cleared, they stop the treatment. However, discontinuing treatment before the condition has cleared completely will cause the problem to resurface. So to ensure permanent relief it is important to continue using these cures until the symptoms are completely impassive.

    Embarrassed to go to doctor

It happens e they said you are not the first & won't be the last , I had gained a few lbs and my Surgeon was texting and asking me when I was coming back in to see him because it had been a while and I wasn't so sure I should go see him being embarrassed but there was other things & issues involved , but I said heck with it because I could feel & see my self starting to eat a little more than I usually do ,surgeon is so cool , when I went in & discussed it with him , he did the barium swallow & fluro check , we both noticed I was little loose so WE decided on a adjustment(FILL), it was all good after that and he didn't judge me like I did myself , so if they are good Doctors then they will help you.

    Healing incisions itch!

Do not scratch them you can get an infection. Get a clean cotton ball and rub it across your skin right above your insisions. It really relives the itch.

How come you had to loose 30 lbs? What was your starting weight?
  21. Hello Everyone, I am only 4 days post op, but I can say that my skin looks amazing. Not just on my face, but on my body. The nurse even complimented me on my skin that made me smile even with all the pain. Prior to surgery I didn't have horrible skin, but it wasn't clear like it is now. I truely hope this stays! I'll give up some hair loss for clear skin! Has anyone else had something happen with their body that they were happy with after surgery (besides the weight loss)?
  22. I think it's where some skin is pulled tighter than the skin around it, if that makes sense. Think of it in terms of cloth. If you cut a big hole out of the center of a square of cloth and try to stretch the cloth and sew it together, you'll wind up with raised areas at the ends of the mended spot. That's because there's more cloth at those areas than there is in the area that had the cloth cut out, so it kind of bunches up where it meets the mended area. From what I understand, that's basically what happens with dog ears.

    Boob job post op

I'm going to have a breast lift but probably not implants unless it is the lift by itself wont be enough to fill out the loose skin. But its only down at a BMI of 22 that I can consider this, my boobs were the last things to shrink. I'm finding that last bit of weight loss, even 4lb made WAY more difference than the first 96lb. Everything is getting a bit saggy now. I really am better off not to lose anymore weight whilst its only my boobs I have to fix! So I'd say yes, you need to wait till you're at your goal weight. It might make all the difference - you'll either be decided that you want implants or it may seem like not such a good idea. I've got that kind of chest now - thin, ribs showing and very defined collarbones, where an implant would likely have that very stark contrast of the melons on the chest look, I dont have enough fat and softness on my chest to blend them in, given that I would need the round implants to fill out the loose skin.

Stretch Marks and Post Surgery Scars

Some people have had luck w/ mederma ? You can get it over the counter. I have it but keep forgetting to use it . That's for the scars. For the stretch marks, I am not sure what to do about those , I have TONS . I have heard staying hydrated and to keep your skin moisturized . HTH Mindy
  25. We had tons of trick or treaters here. By the time I got back from trick or treating with the kids, we were out of candy, so the kids picked out stuff they didn't like from their baskets and gave them out. We finally turned the lights around 9. Amazingly, I didn't touch any candy on Halloween and haven't had too much since. The rest of our weekend was the usual shuffling kids to their soccer games, gymnastics, and ice skating. On the down side of things, I have been getting horrible backaches. My PCP thinks it is probably due to my horrible hanging panus. I have tried ice, heat, muscle relaxants, and pain pills but it just doesn't go away. I can't wait until I can have this skin taken off. UGH!
