  1. A face lift was going to by my next and last plastics procedure, but based on my less-than-optimal scar healing tendencies, both me and my surgeon decided its probably not best for me. While the incisions for the face lift are supposed to be hidden in your hairline and around your ears, it would likely not be so well hidden on me. And we are talking my face, so I don't want to risk it. Sooo....I decided I'm going the fillers route. I've been meaning to go for a proper consult for months, and reading this post spurned me into action, LOL. I've spoken to her briefly twice before when I was in for followups with my PS surgeon for scar revision. I've JUST got off the phone and booked a proper meeting for next week! My areas of concern are my sunken under eyes, the nasolabial folds (i.e., marionette lines), and my neck. Also I am considering addressing my jaw as the last time I spoke to her she said an inject-able in my jaw will relax my muscles there (as I am a night time teeth grinder) and will result in less headaches and a less wider face. Interesting, huh? In terms of cost, injectables are probably a little more expensive in the long run vs plastics, but its a scar thing for me. Further, most people who get face lifts, still get fillers anyway as face lifts alone don't address volume, only skin tightness. I have seen endless amounts of before and after pictures of people with face/neck lifts with FABULOUS results. I think your best place to start would be to book a consult (lots of places are doing virtual consults), with a surgeon to get basic info. It wouldn't have to be the surgeon you ultimately decide on, but at least you can get some info and a baseline to compare with other surgeons. Keep us updated if you can! ❤️

    R.I.P. Boobs

I did a bit of googling, and as with all things in life, it looks like it depends alot of factors (your age, amount of weight loss, age of implants, skin elasticity, etc...) But from what little I have read, the three main complaints of massive weight loss after breast implants are (1) skin rippling around the implant (2) implant dropping lower due to loss of fullness, and (2) your new smaller size makes the implant look too big for your frame, and look disproportionate. Since the implant itself does not change size, I would guess that you would not suffer from the tube boob look, so that alone is a good thing, lol. Can you reach out to your original surgeon and ask for more info?

    Scared I'm recovering too fast...

I don’t know how to answer only because I’m at my third week too but I haven’t tried as much food variety. Besides the fact that I had a rash ( I’m allergic to something just don’t know what yet could be glue/ soap/ vitamins etc) I am also feeling well. I had one good I tried didn’t sit well with me but other than that I tolerate beans, fish and I do chug water too I tried the sips couldn’t do it. Also I lost 20 pounds since preop so in three and a half weeks and my doctor was exited but then I measured last week and only 2 pounds, compared to 11 I lost the first week. I think it’s all just a work in progress. I’m afraid now that I’m in phase 3 I won’t loose as much either because I’m I taking real food but it’s a marathon not a race so if I were you don’t compare yourself because I did that before and i know how you can feel like a failure if you don’t loose as much as the next person. Take it day by day and I too only consume 300-500 calories in this stage. I’m optimistic it’s because we are new at this. You can go back to two shakes and one supper with just puréed food but that’s up to you. Don’t give up
  4. I'm 3 yrs out from surgery and my weight has been stable for 2yrs. My face and neck are driving me absolutely crazy because I now look 10yrs older than I am with a turkey neck and overall sagging skin on my face. What should I know/consider before possibly getting a face and neck lift? If you had this done were you happy with the results?

    Revision

My recovery is going pretty good. I am still on liquid diet. I did however come back to work right away. I had my revision last Thursday, got released on Friday. Came back to work on Monday ! I am not so sour. I was Saturday and Sunday, but since i work from home its not all that bad. I am just really praying and hoping this REVISION puts me back on track to loose weight again. Crossing my fingers !!

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Hello. I had the cursed lap band too! It never slipped but I ended up with a hiatal hernia, a gastric polyp, AND my esophagus had begun to dilate. We tried didn't we? Who knew it would be such a better choice to have a large portion of the stomach removed rather than have a tube put around it? The one I was scared most of was the safer choice! I had my sleeve FEB 10TH. I had band removed November 2019 with hiatal hernia repair. That surgery hurt so much worse than this sleeve it's unreal. Fixing the hernia and removing the band required a lot of muscle cutting. So here I am. Lost 16 pounds before surgery (over 4 weeks by 2 weeks eating extremely clean then 2 weeks of required liquids only) I have lost 12 more pounds since surgery morning. 28# total. Wow, being off of sugary foods, sodas, carbs, all of that junk does work! I hope you find yourself much more comfortable after this surgery than your lap band one!! I am tolerating my liquid diet so much better than I did post lap band surgery! Stick to your surgeon's guidelines 100% !! Be true to that 2 week pre op liquid diet! I truly believe it helped my surgery go better! We were a bit worried from scar tissue from lap band so WE ARE MORE LIKELY FOR A LEAK UNLESS WE STICK TO THE RULES ❤❤❤ I know you will have the discipline and you CAN do this because you had to learn discipline with your band. Also, I recommend Collagen Protein (unflavored) for your liquids you do OTHER than your protein drinks. Collagen is very healing and nourishing to skin and hair and helps new cell turnover. Collagen Peptide protein tastes great and mixes easily in a little warm water....then add your milk and some ice. I use ORGAIN brand unflavored. I add to broth, soups, yogurt, pudding, jello. It dissolves well and does not effect flavor at all. GODBLESS (or whoever you belive in) and you are going to be happy! Thank God liquid diet is temporary !!! So excited for you to kick butt !!!!!

    Food Before and After Photos

Comfort food (didn't we have a fight on emotional eating lately, lol): Little potatoes and carrots boiled in skin in the microwave. Two hard boiled eggs, skyr dip and rucola cress on top.

    Belly Sticking Out

My skin is of bad quality. Lots of stretch marks on it. Torn skin. It's plastics for me. Once my exam is over I'm going to try to speed things up a bit again. I'm vaccinated and work in a hospital setting. I hope being a vaccinated patient in a hospital isn't more dangerous than this.

    Belly Sticking Out

If I didn't have all the loose skin in my belly, I would probably be at least 2 sizes smaller than I am now. It is the only place that looks fat on me now. I lost weight everywhere else. I hate it because now it looks weird to see just the belly sticking out.

    Skin dryness after sleeve?

I drink 3-4 bottles of water and protein2o daily, ( that's 60oz minimum daily-80oz daily) - my dr and my NUT both said I'm hitting my goals. I do moisturize after my showers, too. It's really bizarre. Maybe it's the weather or something, but the dryness is very unusual for me. I kind of wonder if it's like skin starting to sag.

3 weeks post op - The good and the bad

I'm 23 days post sleeve and still on pureed. Basically all I eat are eggs, oatmeal, tuna salad, and oikos triple zero yogurt. I cannot wait to get on soft foods in a week. As far as water, right now I can have 3 sips at a time and drink 3-4 bottles of water or protein2o, no chugs though. Like you, I do feel dizzy at times when getting up or turning a corner, but not bad enough to feel like I'll faint. I kind of just pause for a moment. I have a lot of energy and feel great and am looking forward to going to the gym next week. My biggest issues right now are lack of bowel movement, skin dryness, and a crazy headache (think its PMS related though). What are you eating in the soft foods stage?

    Belly Sticking Out

All excellent points, Summerset. She claims to have had four kids, and her results are just amazing. Not saying everyone could do this...(and God knows I have issues with places my body didn't reshape exactly how I'd like it and i don't know that a whole lot could be done outside of plastics).....but, I've gotta admit, it makes me curious to try it! Her skin reducing back into place is shocking to me.

    Belly Sticking Out

Would be interesting to know how much weight she lost (especially in BMI points). After all there's a difference between losing 80 lbs being a tall person and losing 160 lbs when being a short person. I only think of weight changes that are about the same BMI points as comparable when it comes to loose skin. Also, age is a huge factor and "quality of skin".
  14. My surgery was on the 23rd and I just got home, so I only needed one night in the hospital. As of today my pain and nausea have been well controlled and I have been able to get in 4 ounces of liquid about every 30 minutes. my cute little banana tummy is being a total champ! this is probably helped by my surgeon's aggressive anti-inflammation protocol, so thank you Dr.! The most annoying thing right now is that when the tube down my throat during surgery it scrapped my uvula (the dangling thing at the back of the throat) so it's now all swollen and bruised and it feels like I have a big skin flap in my throat. Could be worse, so I'm not complaining. How about the rest of you who had your surgery this week, how are you feeling?

I got sleeved November 2019 got Pregnant December 2019 gave birth August 2020 during this time I've lost 120lbs. I now want to get skin removal any doctor's you recommend in Arlington/DFW area? Is it worth it to consult right now or wait since it's only been 5.5 months since delivery?
  16. Me. Mine was 7/9/20 and I've lost 50 pounds? Started out at 213 5'5" and although my nutritionist wants no less than 1200 calories a day and just 81-90g of protein, I've eaten less, done a reset and exercised. I haven't binged or emotionally eaten but... I have a glass of wine now and then and don't adhere to keto or 500 calories a day. I hesitate to come here because although I find it helpful, my surgeon's approach is not typical and I read about super fast weight loss and feel bad. I'm now worried about meeting goal by 1 year. And I know there are people here with similar stats to mine that are now 115 pounds. But as my surgeon says, this is for life. It's not a race. I'm in my late 30's and sure, I can up my workouts to twice a day and starve like I have in the past but that's not why I did self-pay surgery. I do worry but on the bright side, I'll have less saggy skin and hopefully the changes in skin won't age me so harshly. You're not a failure! Just focus on small things like meeting protein and water goals and it will come off.

1 year+ post op sleeve stretch

Congrats on getting your surgery date. Whoo hoo from me too! As to your questions: Nope, you won’t be able to eat as much as you did before the sleeve unless you want to experience discomfort but then would you want to eat that much again? Look where it got you then. I’m 21 months post surgery. There are times now when I can eat a true portion size of food, which fits nicely on a side plate, but most times it’s still less. I can easily eat a single serve of rolled oats, a loose cup of vegetables & 3oz of meat but I can’t eat 2 eggs. Can it be challenging to maintain? It sure can. For me, I had those old habits for almost 54 years. I went out to dinner last week & boy did that dessert menu look tempting. Before surgery, I would have ordered something without thinking if I needed it or if I was already full. Now I made the decision not to - yummy but no thank you. Plus there was no way I could have eaten anything else - I’d had enough. Do I have the odd thing I usually avoid? Sure. Over Christmas I ate dessert one night & had Christmas cake. But I haven’t since. If you persisted in eating larger servings, ignoring the discomfort, you may be able to stretch your tummy after surgery over time. Much like you likely did before surgery over the years. But again, would you want to? Part of this journey is coming to terms with how, why & what you ate before & discovering how this needs to change post surgery to be successful. I hope your surgery goes really well.

So mad at myself for regain

I’ve had about 35 lbs of regain, all during the pandemic. I am not mad at myself about this, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to be mad about their pandemic regain either. Motivated to lose it? Absolutely, yes! But we’ve just been through a societal upheaval that disrupted almost every pattern and STARTED with repeated panics about food scarcity - hardly normal for your brain to deal with. I’ve been weighing myself throughout, so I loosely knew what was happening. It was all grazing, plus some higher-calorie indulgences (like cocoa instead of tea). A considerable amount of it is likely related to going from one glass of wine every week to up to two glasses of wine per night - stress relief that never got dangerous but absolutely got fattening. About three months ago I realized I was at a point where things were getting dumb, and plateau’d. I’ve been in the same 5 lb band since. Yesterday my parents got their first vaccination, and today is the first day I’ve coordinated jewelry in probably 6 months. Some switch has flipped to make me remember that I’m actually going to have to reenter society soon, and I’d prefer to fit into my nice jeans when I do. I’m going back to shakes and string cheese and peppermint tea, all the baseline stuff. I don’t get hungry anymore, which is great, but this is going to be a big reorientation. But the time feels right, and I’ve seen too many people on this site follow exactly this path and get back to their goal weight to beat myself up about it. It’s a pandemic. We all ate more, we all drank more, the entire population carb loaded on sourdough for the first two months! But now the winter is over and hopefully soon the pandemic will be too, so the time feels right to get back on track. We can all do it.

what was your starting weight? I am 5 weeks out VSG. I lost 10 lbs during the 2 weeks before surgery and have lost an additional 21 lbs since surgery. I feel like I am on the right track but have had a few small stalls...??? maybe update your profile so others can see your information about starting weight, current weight, surgery type, etc. My surgeon told me I should be loosing around 0.5 lbs per day for the first 3 months. I think 29lbs is great!!!
  20. Ascitis is indeed no joke. They scanned me twice and it is still there. Due to the amount (small) and tricky location they haven’t t been able to drain/test. I’m seeing a couple liver specialists but no one has a clue. IBS symptoms basically loose stool and gas (that really starts acting up when I have anxiety). Are you experiencing this too?
  21. I actually had an appointment with my therapist today, (thanks to everyone for encouraging me to get in with her sooner rather than later) and after a lot of talking and processing, I went no contact with my sister and 2 other acquaintances for my own mental health. I know I’m going to need every ounce of it in the next 6 months. It sucks, but this is for ME!! I have suffered from chronic Panic disorder since I was in a severe wreck, so when I feel like I’m being insulting, or mean, or anything like that I start to freak out, so I just try to avoid confrontation even if it’s something that hurts me (talk about unhealthy). But that’s something I’m working on. I’m learning quickly the thinner I physically get, the thicker my skin needs to be. My weight has never been a joke per se, but the people in my life have told me my wreck (and 7 major reconstructive surgeries), my hypertension, and the medicine I’m on (serious serious weight gain implications) (125 lbs in 18 months, eating cucumbers and balsamic for almost every meal) isn’t an excuse to have gained this weight nor a reason to have surgery to rid myself of it. So to them it’s just always been invalid. My therapist also mentioned that the reason I’m getting so many negative reactions, comments, and people walking away after telling me I’m an idiot, ignorant, going to be a failure, and am “ruining my life for one year max of looking good” is because almost everyone in my life is either obese or morbidly obese. And to them it’s seen as “not fair” and “the easy way out.” This board has provided more support to me in 13 days than anyone in my entire life. I’m so grateful to have found it and to be a part of this community. Thank you for taking the time to respond and provide me with some more insight and encouragement that I can do this! I know I seem like a wuss complaining and seeking advice and encouragement, and so many people do and have done this “alone.” Thanks again, I appreciate you. I’m gonna start practicing the BCABD way of life and tell people sayonara! I really hope I’m not being a burden on anyone. I know I’m long winded. I’m sorry!

    Skin dryness after sleeve?

I noticed the same thing. I do have dry skin normally in the winter so I have been making certain that I keep up with water. Maybe someone will share a brand of lotion that makes a difference with dryness.

    Skin dryness after sleeve?

Hi, I had my sleeve 20 days ago and have excessive skin dryness. All over my body, including legs, arms, hands, chest, face. Lotion and aquaphor do not help. Just seems to get worse. Does anyone else have this after a sleeve?

    Weight loss Insecurity...

Unless you have the snap-back elasticity of a baby, or have not-so-big arms in the first place, you will most likely have some level of excess skin on your arms if you lose alot of weight. I hated my upper arms with the fire of a thousand suns, and worked them out regularly (just regularly, not intensely) in the hopes that I would avoid being an arm-flapper. The result was relatively toned-ish arms...BUT with this drape of skin underneath (and some crepe-y skin on top). The flappi-ness was only noticeable when my arms were up. But *I* knew they were there, and it bothered the eff out of me. So I got an arm lift. Top pic is one day before the arm lift, bottom pic is 2 months after. I suppose if I worked my arms big enough I could theoretically filled in all the extra skin so there wasn't any, but then I'd be all Popeye looking, and that really wasn't the look I was going for.
