  1. Marie...WELCOME! Your story sounds JUST LIKE MINE!! I was so sick for the first 12 days I was sure I'd made the biggest mistake of my life...begged God to help me or kill me...LOL My band was placed July 31...I'm down 20. Feeling great. And yep, we all still have 'those' days when we can't seem to find what satisfies...but I'm proud to say I have had few of those...really getting the hang of what my body is telling me...and excited to know it will work (HAS worked!) and will keep moving in the right direction. We are a small group - only about 5 of us who post regularly...but please post as often as you feel the need...someone will reply pretty quick. We have found a great source of encouragment here and its actually been FUN to share this walk w/ others who're in the same time-frame. That's really helpful, I think... I'll be SO excited to see 34 lbs off...YIPPEE FOR YOU!! We Celebrate with you. What are some of your NON-SCALE VICTORIES? (NSVs) ?? I love hearing about the changes we are each seeing in our bodies - besides the scale. Sometimes, FOR ME AT LEAST, the scale is really not my friend. i keep watching for those other tell-tale signs....this evening, for example, I noticed I can actually see my wrist bone!! LOL It truly took me by surprise. And when I lie down, I can feel my sternum!! Sounds goofy, I know, but there's been so much padding there for so long, I was afraid I actually had some kind of growth! LOL Silly me...But, IT MATTERS!! This is a great group, Marie...please jump in often...we'll try to keep you on the right path - accountability and encouragement! WE CAN DO THIS!! Once and for all!! Blessings! --Kim

    First NSV pre-op!!!!!

I posted this 15 days into pre-op approximately. Now I'm 3 weeks in and I've lost 13 pounds as of this morning. I am sluggish due to the all liquid part of the diet but all is well! No new NSV's yet though.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

What is an NSV? It sounds good so I wish I had one. But no. I have some bad news.... We went back to my home town for the 4th and I wanted to do all my favorite things, some of which included food stops. We have a great lakeside corn dog stand and I ordered one...and ate it all. Then we went to the old ice cream stop. I was able to eat an entire chocolate kids cone. And for my son's birthday, I had steak (filet mignon) for the first time. Zero dumping. I am happy I could eat a bit of steak and actually eat a small amount of ice cream, but I am upset that I still craved the breaded corn dog and ice cream and that I actually ORDERED them. I haven't weighed myself yet (I'll do so in the morning), but I'm seriously in danger of sliding into old eating habits. At almost 5 months out, are any of feeling the food cravings come back and eating things that would have made you ill (dump) a month or two ago? I HUGELY enjoyed the cheats, but they are haunting me! Not to mention snacking on potato chips on the 13-hour drive.....

I think, and I could be wrong, that NSV stands for non-surgical victory.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

So proud of you Gaby! Can you believe how far this group has come? I remember reading post of groups that were six months out and thinking, I hope I will be like that. Now here we are ... not quite six months but really successful. I did have a NSV...I went to see my hair stylist and she did not recognize me at first. c-r-a-z-y. The last time that happened to me, it was because I had gained so much weight. This time when it happened I was happy as opposed to beating myself up for letting myself get that size. So proud of us!

    3 NSVs in a 24 hour period

Nice NSVs! I went shopping today at lunch time and I found that I was able to fit into some size medium tops. It was a little snug (but passable). So I bought 2 medium tops so that they will fit me for a much longer period. I can't afford to keep buying clothes right now. I am going to have to find a thrift shop store near me. I know where donation centers are at, but not stores...lol

    Accountability

Thanks so much Breakfast - 5oz yogurt lunch - 1/4 turkey wrap with light ranch, 1 piece of strawberry, 1/2 pickle spear dinner - 1/2 of a chicken taco snack - 10oz mango raspberry smoothie from Ben & Jerrys. I asked for half size so it was only 125 cals vs 250. Was my treat of the week. Lots of Water Walked for a couple hours Today I had a NSV. I went to a THEME Park!!! First time in probably 4 years, and better yet I was able to fit on every single ride. I was careful not to go on rides that put pressure on my port area. I am so happy. Will make a post about this with pictures tomorrow. Thank you all for the encouragement and I hope you all had good weekends

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Was in a stall for over three weeks....finally broke this weekend and was down 12lbs !!! Went shopping in friends closet and was able to get into a size 18 shirt and pants !!! Yea NSV !! I was thrilled because last June was wearing size 28 pants.....and have pretty much gone thru all the smaller sizes had in my closet. I have been holding out buying any new clothes. I am officially down 130lbs since June 4 at my seminar weigh in, and 83lbs since surgery on Sept 18. Yes I am losing some of my hair too, but I wear mine really short so not real noticeable.

    Where are the 50s ???

Well, it finally happened. Three weeks later than I expected. Six weeks out and I hit a stall. Stuck at 215 for the last week. It's okay though since I added exercise to the schedule this week so my body is probably just trying to adjust. I did have a great NSV this week too. I cleaned out my closet and took two large trash bags of clothes that i will never wear again to a consignment store that sells only women's sizes 14 and over. I get 50% of the sales price. These are very nice clothes as I have to wear business dress for work. I can use the profits as credit in the store if I want. The store has really cute clothing and accessories so I think this is a good deal as I am dropping sizes and don't want to spend the money on new clothes. Great transitional clothing! I'm eating regular food now but still having a hard time getting the calories up to 800 per NUT's recommendation. Still around 600. Protein has been in the high 70's to low 80's, carbs in the 20's, and at least 64 ounces of water daily, sometimes more. Last night I had halibut cakes, rather cake (singular) since I could barely eat one. I'm not finding eating at restaurants challenging at all. There always seems to be healthy choices. I ate one or two bites of the outside of the cake which was very lightly coated with panko, and ate mostly the middle of the cake and two green beans. It was a delicious meal, although just the very small bites of the panko crust did send me to the bathroom an hour later. At least I thought that's what it was. Could also have been the rich filling in the halibut cake too. For Father's Day, I'm making Emily's Bites Lasagna Cpcakes since my husband wants lasagna. Can't wait to try them! I feel like I am in a really good rhythm now and it is great!
  17. Just ran out on my lunch hour to d**k's Sporting Goods to get goggles for my swimming lessons.... they were having a clearance sale ( additonal 50% lowest ticket price). I purchased 3 Dri-Fit workout shirts in size MEDIUM... MED-DEE-UMMMMMMM!!!! for $6 each... I was tempted to buy more but since I still have weight to lose these will due for now.... They had a LOT of XL and XXL stuff on the clearance rack..not much in medium... So I was reminded 1 of the downsides of losing weight...the middle sizes are the first to go... the extremely tiny and the humungous clothes seem to hang around the racks a little longer, especially in stores like this...

  19. Welcome Larae, glad your here, congrats on the jeans! HB--I console myself on the boob shrinkage by saying "Well at least my stomach is shrinking under them!" of course, this really doesn't help but I say it anyway. By the way, if anyone finds my missing boobs my husband would like them back, maybe I should set up a reward for them? :cursing: Liz--In case I forget, have a safe trip this weekend. Besty--Is your new book a text book? Christy--I am with you on the grandparents thing, my grandparents were the only stable thing in my life and they get all the credit for me not being a complete nut case. NSV-- This morning when I tried to get dressed, nothing I had clean fit. So when I got off work I went to Academy (they have really good prices on clothes) so I found a pair of Capri pants that I thought would be my new size and tried them on they were too loose! I had to go back and get a smaller size. I cant remember the last time I was in a dressing room and had to go back and get a smaller size anything!
  20. NSV!!!!!!!!! WOOO! Last night I was looking for clothes to wear to work today and buried at the bottom of one of my drawers was one of those pairs of jeans that I bought slightly too small forever ago and maybe fit into for about 5 minutes so even though they're probably something like 7 or 8 years old they still look brand new. Being that before I was in a tight 24 or a loose 26 I didn't these shiny new 20's (small 20's :tt2:) would fit. And as I started sliding them up my legs I thought to myself "You're just setting yourself up for some disappointment. Wait another month or so!" but those 20's kept sliding on all the way up over my butt and lo and behold, the button and the buttonhole were united easily and I jumped for joy and ran around the house screaming like a little girl! I scared my poor puppy. He ran under the bed. And my husband just laughed at me but I could tell he was happy for me  I've been in them all day and they are sooo comfy!
  21. Question: If my little demon kitty finds sitting at my feet to be his favorite place, does this mean I've hit another NSV moment? As in I've lost my belly so my boobs are 'hanging low' (no shelf) and instead of my food falling on my boobs, it's actually falling to the floor? Bahahaha...ok TMI I think. Melody
  22. Denise, congratulations--that is a heck of an NSV! Doesn't it feel great?!
  23. I have a great NSV!! It may be a little mean spirited, but if you only knew......... Lately I have been feeling those negative mid-life crisis feelings. The ones like I still look bad and I hate getting old.........Well, last night my son showed me some pics of his dad (my ex of many years ago, very bad marriage) The pics were on my ex's step-daughter's web page and were taken this last x-mas. OMG! The man looks like hammered shit! The years have not been kind to him at all! I know it may be a little mean, but I know I have weathered better and that makes me feel so much better!!!!!
  24. Another NSV moment...going into your primary doc and not dreading getting on the scale and then hearing her 'gentle' disappointment that I'm still not taking care of my diabetes (read: losing weight) as I should. My doc is this soft spoken, gentle Indian woman who just makes you feel as if she genuinely cares about you and your health and I love her to death. She's been about for maternity leave since just after my band surgery so she was quite pleased to see I'd lost 35 pounds since my last visit. Interestingly, her office assistant had a gastric sleeve done the same day I had my band. She's down 100 pounds. You know, I thought the sleeve would be similar to the band since they aren't rerouting your insides around so there's no malabsorption, but she's the 3rd person I've talked to who had the sleeve and who are dealing with major fatigue and immune type illnesses. Wonder if it's because their weight loss is not as gradual since they're not spending months getting to restriction. Dunno...but I'm more than ever glad I went for the band. I took my son to lunch at Ruby Tuesday's after my doc appointment yesterday and, in the past, we'd split an appetizer, then each do an entree with the all you can eat salad bar. This time I had their appetizer sized lump crab cake and the salad bar even though my salad consisted of this tiny little pile of spring greens with a couple garbanzo beans and blue cheese dressing. When my crab cake arrived, there was a tiny little pile of spring greens on the plate...the same size as my salad! Shoot, I'll bet they would've let me put a bit of blue cheese dressing on it and I could've saved myself the $2.99 for the salad bar! Making a mental note for next time. The piles of snow are almost gone here due to the mid-40's temps and last night's rain. My fingers are 'itching' to dig into my gardens but we're still almost 2 1/2 months away from when it's safe to plant anything. I am so seriously thinking of building a greenhouse. Well, I need to stop in at work this morning and pay some bills and then I have the rest of my 3 day weekend off. I think I'll surprise my little piglet dog and take her for a walk. Now...where'd I put that leash? .
  25. That is a REALLY GREAT NSV! Heck, call it an SV too. What a great spirit booster for you.
