I had a revision from band 2/11...so far I haven't felt hungry. By day 7 with the band I was ravenous!!! (If I get queasy it means i waited too long to eat so basically every 2-3 hours I have a little something so I don't get queasy). I haven't really felt full but after 4-5 bites but just don't feel like eating any more so i am assuming that's full....I lost 14 lbs the 2 weeks pre-op and 10 in the 3 weeks post-op...I'm not blowing the scales up like a lot of folks around here but am steady at 3 pounds a week.... I'll take 3 pounds a week and not starving any day!!! Good luck!!!! (I've also went back to work part time on day 10 post op then full time on day 15....it's been a great recovery other than fatigue) HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 231.4

How long off work after Gastric Bypass
1Day1Life4Now posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve 2 1/2 years ago and returned to work a week after surgery. I am having a revision to Gastric Bypass in September or October and I was wondering how long I would be off from work. Was anybody able to go back to work after a week or did it take longer? I'm a bit OCD and like to plan things out in advance but I have no idea what to expect this time around. -
Where is the best location for a port? (so it doesnt stick out later or after pregnancy)
AlienBandit replied to antonelladg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port wasn noticable until I lost a lot of weight. Finally I had a tummy tuck (well 3 ..... LOng story) and my port was moved under my muscle and now it is impossible to see or feel. There are people who have revision surgeries to move their ports if they do stick out. My blog has photos to show how my port used to stick put beside my belly button -
Anyone have the Sleeve and then get the Band too?
softwsolu1 replied to kelliecalgary's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't imagine going for the band after being sleeved, and I'm suffering with the "overconsumption" issue you mention - I've heard too much skepticism from patients and doctors alike about the long-term effectiveness of the band. Better to get the sleeve revised. But based on what you lost, are you sure your sleeve isn't ok as it is now? I don't feel the same restrictions as others either, but I've lost 41 lbs in 4 weeks - my POV is that my calories, despite being higher than most, are way under where they would be on a normal diet, and as long as I am losing weight the surgery is effective. -
Today I join the losers bench
OmaJ replied to BecomingMeAgain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Praying for you that all will go smoothly for your surgery, and your weight loss journey - giving God all the honor, glory, and praise! I'm one month out from my surgery (Lapband revision with Gastric bypass). -
i get exactly what you say i have been one of those who was so harrassed on OH after i was banded last year (and before my surgery) with pm's saying how stupid i was to get the band and why didnt i get the sleeve or bypass and in two years id have to revise and all these complications i was due to get... and every time i posted a question of what is this or that, id get a link to the failed banded fb page...that my dear is what i call trolls and people who bait just to be mean.. i cant tell you crappy i felt for a few months thinking what a mistake i must have made...i felt bad bc my ins didnt approve sleeves..self doubt..how nice of people to do that to a newbie.. but you know what, i am proving those women wrong. so as for all i got out of your post..i read it and understood it. i agree with it. i support any and everyone who gives a crap about following their dr's advice i do not coddle those who divert off course.. and if you want support, in my opinion, it starts with ones own self.

Lap Band Revision to the Sleeve
breprih posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi All, I had the lap band back in 2009 and in 3 years I lost 103lbs. At that time I started trying to have a baby and that proved to be very difficult. After many miscarriages I finally had a baby 4 years later (after 2 round of IVF. During my struggles with infertility things seemed off with my band though I was preoccupied with trying to conceive and I didn't really care too much. Due to an ectopic pregnancy I had emergency surgery to have a fallopian tube removed and even that surgeon said that she took at look at my band and it "didn't look right" to her. Now that my baby is a year old I've been thinking about going back to my baratric surgeon. As of right now I've gained half of my weight loss back. I also just got a letter from my surgeon's office stating that greater than 50% of band patients are having revisions due to ineffectiveness of the band, food intolerance, band slipping, and heartburn/erosion. I'm pretty sure I have all of those things. I'm a little nervous about a new surgery but I can't live the way I have been living anymore. -
Slow or fast it goes down 1 lb at a time. I lost only 1 lb a week until I upped my game around month 7 and lowered my calories to 600 a day, carbs to under 20 and exercised and burned at least 400 calories a day. Only then did I lose 2 lbs a week. There are actually some stats that say those who revise from band to sleeve lose slower than those that have not had any surgery prior to sleeve.

Again I find myself thinking that this surgery was supposed to be the magic cure. It is not. My weight loss is only 1 pound per week. My diet is high-protein low-carb low-calorie (850 to 1000) and I must exercise often for that 1 pound per week. I see my surgeon every month n my next visit is 6/3. I'm hoping for a grand number. I am 6 1/2 weeks out. Am i the only one like this??? I keep waiting for my clothes to fall off of me--some sign apart from a number. But not yet. Only a couple of people have even noticed I've lost anything. I'm very disappointed... Band to sleeve revision. 6 1/2 weeks out, 22.5 down

Has anyone had 2 c-sections before being sleaved?
Sweettart702 replied to Kay York's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny how everyone can have completely different experiences with the same operations. I was a little nervous about getting the sleeve (mostly because of the time I need for work). I've had Lapband, revision, removal, and gall bladder and all of them was super easy. Went grocery shopping when I came home. Hopefully I will feel this way with this one too. -
Losing hope...what now?
travelinsnorkel replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He said that he really anchored the port on tight this time and it might just be extra scarring from that. He did do the port revision for free. I am going to see what happens this week and if he can't find it, I'm going to get a second opinion even if I have to pay out of pocket AGAIN! -
anyone opt for a low profile port ?
jigglebutt1 replied to jigglebutt1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually requested the low profile and initially my dr said they use then for revisions w/tummy tucks. After we discussed it further, we decided the low profile was a good option. My nurse actually said it was a great idea because I was so small-HA! small! It does seem like they prefer the regular port cuz it is quicker for them to access. They will actually have to feel around for mine. If I can possibly-I want to avoid a tummy tuck. -
Thanks for you response GeorgiaP...I am kinda in a rock and hard place..I haven't seen my surgeon since the day of my surgery which was 7-31-07. I have only been able to see his P.A. and now he is no longer at the surgery center that I originally went to..Transferred all info to his private office thinking "yeah" this will probably be much better however I am now seeing another P.A. ---She is very knowledgeable and also has a band so in some strange way I feel safer with her. Insurance changed and I did call around prior to going back to MD and no other doc will touch me if revision is required. I think I have mixed feelings about the band at this point...I know that I have struggled with not letting myself over think this situation...what if this what if that...so I discussed with hubby and of course it's like whatever you want to do I'm gonna support you..I don't think that I would have another band placed if it came down to it..I don't know what I would do but after listening to all of you guys I don't think I have it in me to go thru all this again. I never wanted to be "skinny"..just a regular size without an X or a W behind it..haha I have a terrible fear that I will regain the weight that I have already lost...My challenge each day is to not get frustrated and resort to chips and candy bar...because of course I have no problems eating junk food. Again thanks for your input.

Hey everyone, My revision was done all at once July 2013. I started at 174 and a bmi of 28 so I knew I'd lose slower than most but 22 lbs in 4 mths is getting ridiculous. Someone reminded me the other day that I've lost 50% of my excess weight (still need to lose 22 lbs to goal) in 4 mths and that was great. I know I shouldn't compare myself with others on here but some people are losing incredible amounts of weight. Are these just the VSG only people or are some of us revisionists in that category also? What was ur bmi at revision and how much have u lost? How far out r u? I've decided that it's nightime snacking thats my foe. Not to mention my nightly glass of red wine What is ur "secret" to an above-satisfactory revision?

Band to bypass reversion UK
I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ replied to Skins657's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I chose Lap Band on my own. I tried going the less invasive route. So I only have myself to blame, lol. I developed GERD and I'm now in the process of revising to Bypass as well. I never got to goal with the band and I'm hoping for better success with revision and improvement of GERD. Best wishes on your revision! Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
WELCOME to LBT! If you go to the home page you can do a search for opinions on LB vs RNY as there have been lots of threads asking this. You can also start a thread there if you want. Here's a copy of a post I answered awhile back with my reasons. Good luck on your decision! LB vs RNY I think it's all about doing research and seeing what fits you best, and there's no right or wrong answer...I think I could find success with several of them. My youngest sister is bigger than me, and with her food/diet pattern I'd suggest RNY or the Sleeve for her. This was my list vs. RNY. My reasons for the LB: - Safer surgery (no cutting other than the Laproscopic incisions, and fat tissue around where the band will go) - Unfill at any point needed and Reversible if needed for other health reasons - Less complications (dumping, hair loss, etc.) - Slower weight loss (easy to explain when you're not 'telling' everyone. I’m a lower BMI without severe comorbidities, so I don’t need to get healthy FAST. I have another sister who has diabetes and has had 2 strokes...I'd recommend RNY to her as she has life threatening obesity issues and would benefit from getting heathy as fast as possible.) - Easy to get proper nutrition- I don't EVER have to drink a protein shake and don’t have to take a ton of supplements. - Continued interaction/accountability to the surgeon (ie. I had to sign that I would continue seeing my surgeon for 5 yrs. post-op, he covers 6 fills as part of the package so it's not for more $, he really wants you to be successful long-term) - Continued adjustments to stoma for life (RNY/some others- can stretch the stoma, some need revision surgery) - I'm more interested in a slow significant weight loss and keeping it off than a huge weight loss...in other words, if I don't lose all 100 pounds as long as I get to healthy and stay there that's OK with me. It's the keeping it off I'm most interested in. - I need portion control, not reactions to bad foods. I already know I can diet pretty successfully (I'm a professional dieter, just can't keep it off and I feel like I'm starving) so I'm not worried about counting calories etc. (I don't think I need the malabsorption, my sister who can’t stick to a diet would need the help of malabsorption and the feedback of dumping). Talk this over with your doc and I'm sure you'll find the right fit for you...weight loss is weight loss...it's all good!

Lap Band Revision to the Sleeve
AmandaC86 replied to breprih's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I also had the band in 2009 and initially lost 80 lbs. I then had issues with food tolerance and band erosion therefore had the band removed in 2015. I know had gained weight back to where I was before the band. I met with my surgeon about revision and have a nutrition appt tomorrow but I am nervous to do a permanent surgery just like you. -
Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
allielee replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm disappointed that there is only one response here. I have a band (slipped), and would love to know whether the sleeve or bypass would be better or has worked better and why. Once you leave the land of the Banded, you really only have a few choices. And they're not reversible, anymore input would be awesome ???? I was a successful bander until it eroded .. Last year I revised to bypass . Sleeve wasn't even an option for me. Reason being I wasn't going to have "another wls surgery again" I wanted this to be the last one and my doctor said the sleeve is sometimes the first step to bypass.. I wanted the gold standard.. It's so much easier than the band was and I am wayyy healthier now than I was then. I can eat chicken and veggies no problem!!!!! -
Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
lclemur replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I chose the sleeve over bypass for three main reasons: 1) I was afraid of dumping 2) I wanted to be able to use Nsaids. I have had a lot of broken bones, and fear arthritis is in my future 3) I heard a rumor that those that do bypass have a higher rate of farting. I already fart a lot, didn't want to increase it Lol! Originally I was going to go lap-band. The high revision rate, low overall success rate, complications, all factored into changing my mind. Also, I was told that many insurances make it extremely difficult to do a revision. It is a "one surgery" chance! -
Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
James Marusek replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I based my decision on revision rate. I decided that if I had to undergo surgery, I only wanted to do it once. Not repeat it with a revision on a revision on another revision. -
Are there many people from the UK here?

Hi Banded 12 years ago UK and got to BMI <25. Had band removed as it failed mechanically. Regained weight. Waiting for a date for sleeve revision.
