    Can you say freakin' awesome???

Thank you all for the nice words. I also love to read about the nsv's. I think they are better than the scale moving sometimes!!!!
  3. People love a train wreck....or ever notice traffic backed up for miles because of an accident on the other side of the center median in the other lanes? News room saying...If it bleeds, it leads.... NO ONE knows I have had WLS except for immediate family....I just did not want to explain myself to everyone...it is something I needed to do, for myself, my health, and ultimately my Family..... So I received nothing but compliments during my journey, and no criticisms....and today, 3 years later, being fat is but a old memory to everyone, no one talks about it anymore, and all have accepted the fact, and take it for granted that I am what I am....a fit person without an oz of fat on me (as someone said yesterday) New people I meet never knew I was once over 100 lbs heavier, and the subject of me loosing weight is now old news, no longer something to talk about in the office............the ultimate NSV.... Ironically, the one family member who was my biggest critic with nothing but stories of failures......is one of the fattest people I know. And she keeps getting fatter!!!...she should not be the one throwing stones...but even she has now stopped talking about it seeing the entire process was 100% successful with zero complications.....

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Texas Princess....NSV is "Non-Scale Victory".. .. for example, I'm really looking forward to being able to cross my legs at the knees again. That will be a big red letter day for me. It's fun to be able to look forward to or celebrate the non-scale victories with people who "get it". (that would be us, lol) Denise...Welcome to the August Bandsters. Only SEVEN days to go. Woohooo.

    New me forming..YAYYY!

Fabulous....loving the progress. When the scale fails to move, those NSV always help us maintain that focus!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
  7. It's been a month and a day since surgery. I lost 23 pounds pre-op, but only 15 pounds post-up. I've been stalled for 2 weeks, although my weight has been fluctuating up and down by the same 1 or 2 pounds. I've cut back on dairy, which has helped with a lot of issues, and I'm trying to get my calories in (my NUT wants a minimum of 800 daily), which I can do, but I feel like I'm either full or eating all day. I would have liked to have lost more by this point (I was hoping for 20 pounds post-op) but I put on a pair of jeans today that I haven't been able to wear in over 2 years, so that's a nice NSV. I've also noticed that my fat seems more loose and jiggly (I was always kind of solid before), and that I've got some weird bulges in my thighs that I never had before. The inches are coming off, I just want that d@mn scale to move!

We are 772.4 lbs from our collective goal. I have seen quite a few posts about stalls and frustrations etc so just know – we have all been there and we are all rooting for you! You can do anything you set your mind to – and remember – the scale is just a number… I know I personally have a hard time remembering that. I did my weigh in for 6/27 on 6/27 and met my goal for the challenge and I was super excited. I weighed on Friday and I was up 2.6 pounds. It made me upset, but it gave me pause to re-examine what I was eating differently or exercising differently – or come to a decision I was in a stall – Well – I ate off diet a few days when i went back and reviewed – so that was a wake up call – and helped me go back on track – I have decided to look for NSVs (non scale victories) while I get back to weight loss. And yesterday I was able to do a new walk/run path with hills (and running) on it that I had been avoiding and I am SUPER PROUD of myself for that small accomplishment. Before my surgery in March I would have been exhausted just looking at the hill. So for all of you in a slump or perhaps will be a little off after the 4th of July holiday – Keep in mind that it a marathon not a sprint and you are AMAZING just for starting the race in the first place! Have a great and healthy week! @goplay94123

    A towel is fashion! NSV

I love your NSV and the way you told us about it! Your enthusiasm made me smile so big! So far, the only way I've been able to do this is to buy bigger towels.

sorry to hear about the obstacles Mitzie. You have been a great surgery buddy. It won't be long until we are posting in the NSV thread!

    Sad NSV

My favorite pair of sliver jeans are too big. I got a 31 about two months ago and now even with a belt they are falling down. It doesn't help that I have no hips or butt. But I love these jeans... Guess I'll have to wait a while before I get new ones. :-(

    Help :(

Definitely, definitely, definitely STOP WORRYING If you search past (and even current) posts here you will read about the dreaded week 3 stall....there is even one by me!!!! You have to keep in mind that after losing so much weight so quickly your body needs time to adjust to that weight. I will also tell you that stressing out over it can make it worse. Just keep doing what you're doing and TRY not to focus on the number on the scale....it's just a number!!! Instead, focus on the NSV's (non-scale victories). When I hit the 3 week stall (which lasted 2 weeks BTW), I took my measurements and even though I hadn't lost ANY weight in two weeks, I had lost several inches....proof that the scale can, at times, be my worst enemy!! So, don't beat yourself up....you're doing great!!!!

    Nsv!

Congrats Laurend. I wish I'd taken my measurements before the surgery. I had a similar NSV today. My boyfriend had bought me these flannel house pants type things the day of my surgery so I'd have something comfortable to wear post surgery. Well of course I couldn't get them on which was no surprise. I decided to try them on tonight and I'm wearing them! They are even a little loose. So even though I haven't lost that much weight something is changing! This is fun!

Lil sister this is a great NSV. I am so proud of you and your loss already. WOW you are rocking that sleeve SIS, Don't forget to get those pics on the gallery so we can see the skinny you in transformation. I am so psyched for you. You are doing great!!!!!! :whoo: :clap2:
  20. So I’ve been avoiding buying new clothes for as long as possible but today I have to go to the mall because I have decided I need new jeans. Last night at Orlando City’s home opener against DC United (MLS Soccer) we scored the equalizer in the last few minutes of the game and the supporter section went crazy. I went crazy. I high fived. I screamed. I jumped. And when I jumped... my pants fell off. [emoji23] A little “behind” show for the folks behind me! Luckily I was wearing cute undies and they were going as crazy as I was. Anyway, NSV, New Pants, Yay! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Now to find the healthy stadium food options...
  21. Hey everyone! Happy Labor Day. Hope you are all well. Just checking in. I’m heading into my week 7. So far so good. Glad I can finally begin to do some intense workouts. Still feel some pain on my left side so I will take it somewhat easy. Lol. I feel so good and loving all the NSV. So far I’ve lost 37lbs since the day of surgery.

2 Week Up Date Post op....

Well I'm on to my 3rd week being a bandster and I'm doing great!!! I'm down 11 pounds and I'm able to eat lots of different things right now which is great that nothing I've tried has bothered me yet. Also I was very excited that Tuesday I got back results from my cholesterol screening and in November it was 257 and it is now down to 177 Whoohoo I would consider this a definate NSV and I'm so glad that it is down in a normal range and my Dr. said I should be able to completly get off of the cholesterol meds soon. now if I can get that blood presure down so I can quit the blood presure meds I will be in really good shape and on my way to a smaller and healthier me. 2 and 1/2 weeks left till I get my 1st fill!!!

    A towel is fashion! NSV

It's not lame at all. I had a similar experience. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me just not thinking. Then it hit me. Oh my, it wrapped all the way around. I was sooo excited. I pranced out into the livingroom and showed my husband. He just looked at me. I had to explain and his response was "Good". He didn't get it at all but it was still a major NSV to be celebrated. Congrats!!

    July 4Th Challenge

I haven't done great this week. Being pre-op, I'm fining it harder than ever to not just eat everything in site! I did have a bit of a NSV: we went to a Chinese buffet and I ate half as much as I would have originally. That was a big deal for me. SW:310 Pre-surgery W: 292 Surgery Weight:? Current weight: 298 So I've gained 4 lbs. this week. Meh.

    Hello Missouri

sleep Apena NSV I found out last June that I had sleep apena and started using the CPAP machine about a month before being banded. I had a pressure setting of 12 and now down to a 7. I have lost close to 50lbs since being banded 6 months ago. I have been having problems with to much air etc. along with not wearing the mask the whole night. I talked to the doctor about it and he suggested that we try using a dental device instead. Insurance approved me for the device and I have started to use it and it is great. Here are pictures of the device. The dentist who deals only with sleep apnea feels that this device will work for me and that she wants to do a sleep study in about 4-6 months to ensure that it is working. If it is working then I will not need to use the CPAP.
