  1. Hi all! My name is Stephanie and I was sleeved on January 29th, 2014. Today I am 6 days post op and feeling ok. I only spent 2 days in the hospital and had no complications. Gas was my biggest problem and still is. Wish it would go away! My stomach is really messing with my head by gurgling and growling ALL DAY LONG. I feel hungry, so I eat. Most of the time eating makes me sick. No problems with Water or sugar free Powerade, etc., but I will crave something more substantial and be sorry I ate a creamy Soup. So back to water and then I get hungry again and it starts all over. I'm confused whether it's head hunger, why I feel hungry...all that. Energy level is ok and today I didn't have any pain. I walk a mile every morning. I'm having trouble getting Protein in because I am tired of Protein shakes. Getting used to a life that doesn't revolve around food is so hard!
  2. I was Sleeved Tuesday and am doing well. Living mostly on Isopure Protein Liquid, Water, broth and small amount of SF Jello. Gas and bloating are going down a small amount each day, Gas X doesn't seam to do much. How many strips at a time do you take? Maybe I need to walk more. What is your best tasting favorite brand of Broth? Thanks, Craig
  3. Im in the same boat!! Now After having my daughter im having a harder time loosing weight then i did the first time after surgery. Recently had a fill and lost 2 pounds first week of fill. Calorie intake is about 700-800 for the day with most of that being protein i get about 64g of it a day. I admit i could do more for exercise but after falling off the wagon im slowly getting back on. Wish you luck ladies!!

    Water

Not getting enough water/liquids in each day has & still is an issue for me too. I hate plain water. I've never been a water drinker. I have found Crystal Light & hot tea helps. I'm a year post op & I still drink protein shakes & they count as liquid. I probably only get in half of my daily liquid requirement. I never think about carrying water with me & I am still trying to develop this habit. It requires a lot of work to get in my daily liquids. I hope you are better about this than I am. I refuse to give up.
  5. Hi. I was sleeved 7/17 but my doctor allowed soft foods after 2 weeks. I eat just about anything chewed very well. Eggs, chicken, fish, tuna with light mayo, low fat cheeses, I also mix unflavored unjury in my crystal light fruit punch or mio flavors and like that better than the creamy sweet chocolate shakes. It's too much sometimes. I stay away from a lot of carbs and eat protein, veggies/fruits and then carbs if there is any room (usually not). I also find using myfitnesspal app is so helpful for me to keep track on the summary.
  6. I'm only a week out. Felt incredible day 1-3 and after that just wasn't feeling right, each day got worse. Day 6 was miserable!!! More liquid didn't help. More sleep didn't help. More Protein didn't help. THANK YOU to the sleever that posted something that I stored in my memory for some reason... I can't recall who you are or what post but you saved my life. I took an Iron pill last night and woke up feeling amazing again. I took the other half tonight and felt even more improvement! Better mood, more energy, and looking at life with hopeful eyes again! Sweet dreams everyone!! Woohooooo.....
  7. I am doing pretty well. A little sick to my stomach though. What is more important to drink Protein or Water? I can't handle both right now. Sent from my SM-T350 using the BariatricPal App
  8. So I'm nearly a month post op, rny. My surgery was uncomplicated, as well as my recovery so far. HW was 335, SW 315 CW 304. I'd be lying if I said that I'm thrilled with my rate of weight loss since surgery, but it's consistent losses, something I haven't been able to achieve without surgery. My mind wants so badly to see 299... So I figure it's toying with me. I have lost inches, I'm in a smaller bra size already though. Adapting to eating had been surprisingly easy. It's just a fact off life of what I can/can't have. My hubby made the comment that he lost his eating buddy yesterday. I think him eating junk alone makes him uncomfortably aware of just how much junk he's eating (good!). I seem to tolerate sugars ok so far, things I've read others have dumped on (ketchup) hasn't phased me. The only thing that I regret was stealing a piece of sausage off of the kids pizza... Felt like a flaming metal ball going down...ugh! I've been having a lot of pain from one incision site, my doc said I was doing too much too soon. So I took it easy again and hope to add in exercise this week as I move on to soft foods. I'm not getting all my Water in and I won't drive myself crazy over it, I'm close though. I do need one Protein shake a day to meet my protein goal. After a walk yesterday I understand why they encourage protein after exercise, I felt dizzy and out of sorts. I'm also battling a bad cold.... Coughing makes the side pain worse though (uhh again!) I phone conference my NUT on Wednesday. There is no way I could take in the amount of food on her sample diet, I think I'm good with two meals and one snack a day.
  9. Just sharing my experience with pregnancy and lap band. I had lapband through True Results about 2 years ago. I tipped the scales around 300lbs. At surgery time I was around 281. My lowest weight I reached was 206. At that weight I ended up being dehydrated and as far as food went, it wasnt an option. I had 8ccs and no food wnet down. But I was losing weight so I was happy. I had some fluid removed to about 6ccs then I became pregnant. My weight shot up to 271lbs at the time I had my daughter was Jan. 1, 2016. I am currently at 223 lbs. I developed severe acid reflux in my pregancy. I thought it was normal. I found out my band has almost slipped. I had to have all the fluid removed. I am on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and soft food for a week, then I will go back for a fill at that time if everything is healed. My band went back into place after the fluid was removed. This is my current status with my lap band. I was told this is common in pregnancy with lap band.

Typical meal 6 months & one year out?

  11. I got banded Oct.1!! First week all I really had for breakfast lunch and dinner was liquid vicodin! I was in alot of pain and felt extremely full of air and gas on my left side where the port is. I have a swollen bump where my port is..that's where all my pain is no where else. Doctor said it should heal with time he said it's like a bruise with blood on the inside. Other than that im feeling alot better. Today is 15 days later and a huge difference from last week. Still on liquids been making chicken soup like crazy and just drinking protein drinks and water. My husband took 2 weeks off work to help me, I'm a stay home mom with 4 beautiful kids so my days are hecka busy 24/7.
  12. Hello VSG Family, I had my surgery on 09/21/11 in Juarez, MX. My surgeon was Dr. Jose Rodriguez and staff! Fantastic people!!! I would do it again if I got the same set of people. I am 3 weeks out, and down 22lbs. *Note: My photos have not been edited. They will load up to a large size on your screen. ("Close button is on the bottom right hand side.")They were taken on my cell phone while I was in the hospital, so please excuse any darkness and discrepencies. I get alot of questions like; What was it like? (Great Experience for me) Have you ever been there before? (Nope! Had to get a Passport and everything.) Where you scared? (Of course, but I needed this surgery -- so fear was not an option!) Keep in touch all.. *Note: There were 2 bathrooms in my room. *Note: There were 2 tv's in my room also.
  13. Hi all, I was banded 10/24/08. I lost 16lbs the first week and a half and now i am at a stand still. I wonder if anyone has experienced a slow weight loss because of the birth control pills. I will not have my first fill til Dec 4. But i am eating 3 4oz meals, sometimes a snack lots of water and lots of protein????? Any ideas:tounge_smile:
  14. It's by champion nutrition. Those are my pre op shakes. Wondering how they taste. Thanks!
  15. I m schedule for the same on 12th March so yayyy You should have started with your pre-op diet your diet will be less than a week and yes isopure ready to drink flavors are quite nice and chocolate and coffee and banana flavors are good when it comes to the Protein shakes. H. Pylori is bad enough considering you are already on medication and antibiotics, and your surgeon is ok with it... I personally think you should stress yourself on it. And just go with what your doctor says. I m sure you will do well... Goodluck!
  16. My doctor put me on 2 protein shakes and one small meal a day. I think I lost 20 pounds the first month. It's since slowed because I'm indulging in holiday treats. It's tough now, but I figure at least I won't be hungry after surgery, whenever that comes.

To anyone who lost weight Pre-op

My doctor put me on a lean protein and green veg diet for the week before my op - it worked really well and I lost about 6-7 pounds the week before. I basically got South Beach protein meal replacement bars and had them along with fish and chicken - broccoli and lettuce... it worked. Good luck!

    Acceptable Protein Shakes

i use walmarts body fortress whey protein powder it has26g protein 2 g sugar 140 cal i mix it with skim milk very good, and gnc has an unflavored powder 110 cal 2 g sugar 21 protein and i mix it with my crystal light, very yummy hope that hellps
  19. I'll second the Costco Muscle Milk, It's OK with water and if you can afford the calories, it's better with skim milk. They have protein bars too, unfortunately they taste like chocolate covered sawdust, but they do have 20g protein. Cottage cheese is cheap and has quite a bit of protein and is pretty filling. You have to buy food anyway so just make it healthy. Grainy, wheat bread is good toasted, if you can eat it. To begin, you'll need sugar free jello, s/f Popsicles. S/f fudgesicles Costco chicken bullion, instant potatos thinned out are good for full liquids. The food section has a lot of good ideas and Google is full of liquid and solid food ideas.
  20. To be honest i would talk to your Surgeon about the financial burden that you feel under in relation to the 'extra' costs of things like protien shakes, why do they insist on you having to buy Bariatric Advantage Protein from them.. ? Stress can be a real problem when trying to lose weight, even if you dont eat when stressed it can mess up your metabolism whereby you dont lose anything. It sounds like you are worried over a lot of things at the moment and maybe you need to consider postponing for a while or looking into getting another doctor. Having success with a band is not just about food, its about being in the right frame of mind to dedicate time and effort into getting results. Might be an idea to ask family friends for christmas presents of protien shakes. I really hope things go ok for you.
  21. I was already on the following plan when I started my 3-month supervised plan: 1200 calories a day + exercise calories Low carb (10g or less per meal) Lean Proteins Exercise 4-5 days a week (3 days weights + cardio, 2 days cardio only). My cardio preference is HIIT on elliptical. My nutritionist approved my plan an I continued doing that until my pre-op. Best wish on your journey!

  23. Wow, I'm just FULL of questions (and topics) today! LOL Since I have a sensitivity to sucralose, which is only in EVERYTHING now, with my Dr.'s permission I'm having organic coconut Water, RAW Protein powder, and another mostly organic Meal Replacement shake. I will REALLY have to amend the post-op diet, since it's almost all sf this or that, and when there's no sugar it's full of sucralose and aspartame, which also makes me sick. Anyone do this organically, or mostly natural? Blue
