    Need Help Please

    Unjury chicken broth flavored protein powder (1 scoop in 8oz water) has just 90 calories, and provides 21 grams of protein. Also, you can add unflavored Unjury powder to most anything...80 calories per scoop and 20 grams protein. I drink chocolate muscle milk...the regular formula has 20 grams of protein in an 11 oz drink, and 180 calories. The lite formula (it's sugar free) has 30 grams of protein in a 17oz drink, and 200 calories. I typically split those in half, so 15 grams protein in 100 calories. You could also try Isopure drinks...low calorie, and very high protein. I can't stand the taste of Isopure (It's wicked sweet to me), but many others like it.

    Actually, the fact you're not losing and eating mostly soft foods are just more signs you're too tight. Contrary to the myths out there, being too tight can lead to stalled weight loss and even weight gain. The reason being, you're resorting to slider type foods and "soft calorie syndrome" because you can't eat the healthy things you should be.   4. Just staying in from lunch while co-workers have burgers and stuff. I'm 8 days post-op and feeling pretty amazing. People have told me that they can already tell a weight difference in my face and I feel like I have a ton of energy. I started "puree foods and full liquid" diet yesterday and haven't even made good use of it yet. I tried to puree some Pasta salad yesterday but was so put off by the color and texture that I couldn't eat it - despite it being one of my favorite foods pre-op. You guys weren't kidding when you said tastes change after surgery! I had a 150 calorie yoghurt 5 hours ago and still don't feel like I want to eat anything. Of course the thought of stuffing my face with french fries sounds nice and familiar but I don't have that hunger feeling that I usually have and get distracted with other things.
  5. I was sleeved 8/24...after a TWO WEEK stall...I am down to 312 lbs!!!!!!!!!! I started at 346 pre op and 331 dos. I am eating around 800 calories a day give or take a 100 calories. I am sooooooo happy to be done with purees, Soups and all that!!! I am eating pretty much what I want PROTIEN first...I have had a cookie but couldn't eat more than one (that is just funny coming from me who could eat 10 before) It seems like I'm eating ALL DAY LONG...but I'm good. Sometimes I think I'm eating too much when I go over 800 calories but then I think I should be eating (with a normal stomach) 1600 calories to lose weight. This has been the best thing I've done...my two week stall at 3 weeks was annoying but I got through it!!! MY SLEEVE ROCKS!!!!!!!!

    Losing At A Snails Pace!

    Because now your body is in the 'lower' weight percentile you will lose slow. This seems to be very normal reading through the threads with people who are in the same boat as you are. I honestly think you are doing marvelous! Besides your calories, have you been tracking your fat grams? Remember fat burns fuel. I just had to pump mine up because I was eating less than 15 grams and for someone my size I should be eating anywhere between 25-30 daily. Yes, I believe you should go higher with your calories, maybe alternate the calories as a test, sometimes we have to trick our bodies in order to see any results. Maybe one day 1500 calories, then reduce it, etc..Can't hurt to try....

    Not Loosing any weight!!!!!

    It's a well known complaint before the first fill and even sometimes, the second or third that people aren't dropping weight. Remember, the average weight loss (over a period of time) is 5-10lbs per month. This may not happen every week, consistently, but I can almost promise you by this time next year, you will have lost an average of 5-10lbs per month AS LONG as you have met the band halfway. Protein, Water and exercise. During this trying phase of being UNfilled, you may want to try tracking your foods on www.fitday.com. Sometimes carbs and fats slow us down and we're not even aware we're loading up on them. This is not something you'll want to do every single day of your life, but it is good to go there and check on your habits for a few days at a time to see if you're heading in the right direction. Sometimes, we're not getting ENOUGH calories... check it out and see! Good luck!

    Working It!!

    Hey girl! Way to go on eating and exercise....I recently read a post from P'Nut -who has successfully lost 80 lbs so far -- she does (and recommends) 800-1100 calories a day AND makes sure that she eats 60g of protein - it fills you up and really works with weight loss....just figured I'd toss that out to you - good info is better than no info lol -- and of course what your doctor recommends comes first! You are doing great! Keep up the awesome job!
  9. So I have been dizzy for a while now, usually I can just hold on to something to steady myself. I am within 1 pound of my ULTIMATE goal of 149 i am 5'9" tall, so although that may sound like it's still a lot, I am really tall. So anyway I ahve talked to both my PCP and surgeon regarding this last week. They adjusted my Wellbutrin and Xanax thinking I may have been getting too much. All of my labs are good except my thyroid is low. I take all my vitamins and get all my protein in a day. And I get about 800 calories which I am trying to increase by a little so I can begin leveling off. Anyone else ever have this issue? I am starting to get worried. Last night when I got up to go to the bathroom, I didn't even feel dizzy. My husband heard me fall and say oww. When he talked to me must have been when I woke up. I asked him where I was when he found me he said I was laying in the floor. I don't remember a THING. It is really scary.

    Your weight can change from day to day. Mine has changed from 5 lbs from morning to evening!! I forget how many calories equal a pound of weight but it could be water retention, or you did not have a bowel movement or both... I would not worry about it, just do a bit more exercise and really watch for a day or two or go back on to a liquid diet for a week.
  11. I stalled for a while around six months (for nine weeks) and lost in fits in starts the entire time. So it might just be your normal. Weight also comes off much more slowly the closer you are to goal. Everyone's dietary needs are different and I'm not trying to sound harsh. I ate over 2,500 calories a day before surgery, too...and I was gaining at a rate of a few pounds a month. That doesn't mean it was normal or good for me! If you're male and quite active your diet sounds right. If you're female, I'd say you're already eating like you're in maintenance. One thing we need to shed is all of our old "dieting" info that's stashed in our brains from years of struggling with our weight. No, we aren't going to starve to death or destroy our metabolism with a lower calorie diet, even though doctors have beaten the "1,200 calories" into our heads for years. For some of us, even the 1,200 was too much. If it wasn't too much for some of us, and if dieting really were one-size-fits-all, Weight Watchers and Nutrisystem would make every American skinny on the first go-round. So, if you feel your diet needs work, change it and be more strict with yourself. I don't advocate paring carbs to nothing and eating 500 calories a day, though it undoubtedly gets results. Track your food religiously and see where the line is. If you trim your calories by 20% do you lose at the same rate or does it pick up? If it stays the same, it's just that you're a slower loser and you can eat as you are now. But if it picks up, you know the answer lies in your diet. I was slow and steady the whole way with two nine-week stalls. It took me 17 months to lose 107 pounds. I've kept within four pounds of goal with very little effort. I eat like a person in maintenance and consume 1,400 or so calories a day of whatever I really want, but I aim for 90 grams of Protein each day. Only you really know how you're doing. If you're unhappy with your rate of loss and your diet or exercise can improve things for you, you're silly to waste the opportunity. If you're just a slow loser, join the club. Make sensible choices and keep moving and you'll get to goal. ~Cheri
  12. Everyone is different as you have caught on to. I lost 30 lbs quite readily and than it slowed once I started needing fills. You will not lose 10s of pounds a week for too long, especially once you start eating your solids again. Be mindful that if you do that that is not something to strive for and you'll need to incorporate more calories. But you have another month or so before than. Until than, enjoy the loss, take advantage and best of luck
  13. About 2 weeks ago that happened to me and after talking with my dietician we figured out I wasn't eating enough. So as I have increased my calories I have started losing again! Talk to your dietician! They really can help! Good Luck!

    Why journal?

    I can see the benefits of it, and how it keeps control of forgotten calories. I did type my opinion of what I think of journalling, but I've said it often enough and this thread was more about the positives of it, so I've edited. I guess we're all different. What works for me is different than what works for the next. As long as what you do works for you and you can sustain it, what else matters?

    Why journal?

    I have tried journalling a couple of times but I find it takes so long and starts turning into an obsession. Plus I don't weigh or measure my food so when it asks for a portion size I guess.I don't want to spend even more time weighing and measuring as well. I can see the benefits but it also has it downside. I got scared when I saw the fat content of some "healthy" foods. I also find it annoying if the site doesn't have all the brands. In the US I think you have a better choice of sites - the best one here in Aus seems to be calorie king. It also doesn't work trying to use a US site unless you live there as the foods are so different! So yes I think it can help but it also takes a huge chunk of time and lots of dedication. The other reason I don't use one permanently is I am trying to eat like a skinny person. That is to eat what I want when i want it and not obsess over it. To try and listen to what my body really wants. It sounds easy but after all these years of dieting and being told what to eat its actually really hard.
  16. I am feeling disappointed too. I'm only 3 weeks post op but I already feel like I'm stuck at 18 pounds lost. I'm doing all the stuff required except a solid work out where I sweat, but I'm still experiencing a moderate amount of pain. I've even used Spark People to track my calories and protein and I'm usually under 800 calories a day in fact I'm usually around 400 to 500. I almost feel like retreating to the preop liquid diet, I lost 9 pounds in 9 days. It is maybe too soon to expect too much?
  17. So I was sleeved January 2012. I've been doing really well...I've lost over 70 pounds since my surgery, but I'm currently stalling out. I'm 5'6" and weigh about 155 (I'll have the exact number tomorrow when I go for a check-up). However, I haven't budged in a while. I'm taking in about 1200 calories a day ( I track using mfp...best thing ever). Am I always perfect? No, I get hungry sometimes...i have Snacks during the day, but again, I try to keep it within my caloric goal. I also exercise 4-5 times a week. I run for 30-45 minutes on most days, swim once a week and do weights 4 times a week. I follow this regimen and I'm seeing skin tightening results...however, again...I'm stuck. any advice on how to break on through to the other side (sorry, i love the Doors). Thanks for your helps, sleevers!!
  18. im 10 week post op ... I'm happy with my results thus far but I'm stalled for 3 weeks !! any suggestions? I'm now able to tolerate all foods and my stomach can take in just about anything.. of course in moderation.. i do watch my portions my calories and i do not snack like before i take my vitamins ... if i overeat its bad!! so i def avoid overeating i go into severe pain sweaty and i fall into a comatose feeling.. just want to pass out.. so i never ever over do it its such horrible episodes and scary.. that i DO not make myself full.. really need help with this stall my scale doesn't budge. thanks

    the last 9 lbs

    Hi All and congratulations on getting/almost getting to goal. I have 2 lbs to reach a healthy bmi and 9 to reach my personal goal. I seem to have slowed down significantly, almost to a stop actually which is to be expected I suppose when the calorie defecit is less than when I was larger. I seem to be managing about a pound every 4-6 weeks now. I just wanted to ask those at goal how long it took to lose your last 7 lbs? It seems it could take me as many months to lose these last few pounds as it did to lose the majority of my weight. Also did anyone just decide to adjust their goal because they slowed to a stop or did it just carry on coming off steadily until you reached your goal. I can't decide whether that is it for me and lets face it, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I never lost another pound maybe just a little disappointing that I was so close to healthy but didn't quite make it. Did anyone try and blast it by doing shakes or the CD or did everyone just continue with their normal foods? I'd love to hear from you because I feel I need to make a decision...... Never managed to sort my ticker but I'm 5ft 3ins started at 196, now weigh 142 and its 10 months since surgery. :tongue2:

    The Last 60 Lbs

    It sounds like you are doing fine. There is even a good argument or two for doing a small maintenance period after about 100 lbs. Stalls are common, just seacrh the topic here you will come up with 100's of topics and replies. When we lose weight it isn't just about the burning the calories thus reducing the lipids. You body can store other things it anticipates it will need as you lose weight. It will shed them, however. You can have a stall break quickly, or slowly, a pound at a time, or WHOOSH! You are on the right track, log your foods. If not already consider checking out myfitnesspal.com. You got this, let it take time if it needs to.

    Went On Vacation

    Not eating at home is one of the biggest challenges for a bandster. Try to remember the band is a tool... And if you don't use it properly it will not work. Eating out and or at friends homes can work if you maintain portion control. If you are worried about it just quietly tell your friend you are dieting or watching your calorie intake and portions so while you know her cooking is delicious you may not eat as much as she is planning for. Problem solved. Congratulations on managing to lose weight on vacation...not matter how much. That's wonderful.

    6 Weeks

    I was sleeved on 04/16 and the PA was also not positive about my weight loss. However, I am losing again now because I went to Sams and brought the Premier Shakes and protein bars. I got the generic Prilosec also. I get in at least 40 oz of fluids daily and try some type of exercise everyday. No one told me my body would go into shock and the scale would just stop moving. I am also tracking what I eat on my fitness pal to ensure I am not getting in more than 800 cals a day. The cals add up fast because the protein bar is 290 cals but it also provides 30 gms of protein. It is good when I get home and start to feel hungry. I decided to only use the bars on occassion since they have so many calories. The weight loss is slow but I am still losing and not gaining. At one point I was gaining according to the scale. I knew then I had to make some changes. So I increased my fluids and proteins. We made the decision to do this and we have to press past all the obstacles set in our way. Before surgery I would starve myself, I still not lose. Now I can track what I put in my mouth (which thanks to the sleeve is a small amount at a time) eating protein first and do not eat and drink at the same time. I mostly eat protein now. I try to stay away from the carbs. (But today I had homemade spaghetti, with ground meat and chicken sausage. I ate approx. a half cup. Now I will not eat that everyday). If we know we are following the rules, we have to believe that we will be successful. My clothes are getting looser.

    What Were You Eating 3 Weeks Postop?

    I ate what my doc told me also...which was soft blended foods. I thought they were delicious since I had been doing the full liquids for 2 weeks. I had blended chicken stew, spaghetti, turkey chili...whatever the family had for dinner. I could not eat very much....about 3 or 4 teaspoons but it was enough. Now I do not have Pasta at all. I use spaghetti squash and zucchini for my pasta's. I watch my carbs and count my calories!

    a.m. eating verse p.m.eating

    Definitely an unfill, what you are doing is counterproductive in that it doesnt set you up for healthy chocies. I find that like most bandsters, I really dont feel like eating in the morning and can easily go to lunchtime without Breakfast. But to eat a good breakfast really makes a difference to how well and how much I eat the rest of the day. It prevents the afternoon munchies. Personally, my appetite has ALWAYS shut down at about 5 pm band or no band. I've never ever had a night time eating issue, I know its very common, and I have a son who does this - literally doesnt eat ALL day at school and then eats solidly from 4pm to bed. You know, I personally believe its crap that you'll get fatter if you eat those calories at night v in the morning, your body uses and stores continuously throughout a 24 hour period so when you store it up as fat at night, you'll burn it up when you dont eat the following day. But you'd FEEL so much better, eat so much more senisbly and have so much more energy if you ate regularly, so I'd unfill.
  25. I was banded on 04/13/2012 & lost 30 lbs. the first 3 months. However, I seem to be stuck with the weight loss. I'm presuming I need more exercise &/or less calories. I am on a 1200 calorie or less per day regime.... My starting weight was 211 lbs. & I am currently at 179 lbs. Does anyone have any real suggestions to jump start my weight loss? I considered going back to liquids, but I feel that's unreasonable. I work in law enforcement, work 12 hour shifts & hardly have any time to do extracirricular stuff, let alone exercise. I self-paid for my surgery & really want to do the right things! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
