    Period questions

I’ve been using an app to track periods for the past few months. Everything was on track until this month when I started a week early. It’s been super heavy and this is gross but throwing huge clots. I’m trying to figure out if this is related to weight loss? I’m currently at the three month mark since surgery. Prior to surgery I had an iud which fell out during preop phase and I didn’t bother to get another one or go on the pill. Not sexually active, I’m on a self imposed hiatus lol. Anyone else experiencing heavy flow out of whack with your normal schedule? Trying to decide if I need to contact my gynie, my last pap was normal in July of this year. Thanks in advance for any input.

    Anybody Reschedule Their Date?

Yes. Originally I was scheduled for 7/18/17 but I was moving that next week and since you can’t lift more than 5lbs I needed to be rescheduled. Was revised on 8/8/17. Easy peasy.

    Period questions

It is crazy isn’t it. Mine started a week early, I thought it was down then yesterday for like 3 hours was crazy heavy. After three hours later it was gone. Completely cleared up. Nothing since then.
  7. I drove about 4 or 5 days post op but just down the street. And I tried to walk around the grocery store but man that pooped me out.

Thanks Berry. My iud was Mirena but that was gone back in July. I’ve had normal periods since then up until this month. Just thought it was weird, I didn’t even start early on the month of surgery like people say happens to them. It has been pretty heavy. I’ll just keep an eye out.

    Lap Band Removal or NOT???

I had a band placed in 2010, went from 239 to around 185. A year after that my gallbladder had to be removed and my weight shot back up to 242. I couldn’t get back into the green zone no matter how many fills/unfills we tried. By 2017 I was getting stuck with water. I couldn’t take it anymore and started my journey for a revision. I was 242 at my consult. August 8, 2017 I was revised from band to SIPS/LOOP DS. All in one outpatient surgery. I’m three months out and went from 242 at my consult to 189 today. My only complication was an issue with my incisions taking longer than normal to heal. Just wanted you to know that not everyone has bad experiences. The only negative I can come up with is that I wish I did this years ago instead of suffering with that torture band.

    Chapped lips

I have super sensitive skin and can only use pure petroleum jelly aka Vaseline as a chapstick. Everything else has too many extra ingredients that dry out and irritate my lips. Sometimes it’s not that you’re not getting enough liquids, sometimes it’s whatever you’re using that causes you to use more.
  11. Thank you! The time will go by super fast, before you know it you’ll be at 3 months. I feel like I’m a rather slow loser which is usually the case as a revision vs a first time wls patient. But as long as it’s still coming off it then it’s all good. Good luck to you, I’m sure you’ll hit 180-190 in no time [emoji4]
  12. Tomorrow is my 3 month mark. The best thing I can tell you about post op, is to walk. I was up and waking and still had brain fog. I knew from my previous two laparoscopic surgeries (lapband and gallbladder) that the only way to get the gas out and avoid most of the post op pain was to walk. My bestie was my savior, I told her before they wheeled me out to make sure I was up and walking asap. I was outpatient so I went home the same day and just did laps around the living room taking a one ounce sip of liquid at each lap. I was tired but ok. Walk and get your liquids in. The rest will come. It took about 4 weeks for me to not be so tired. My only complication was my incisions took forever to heal. Three popped open and needed me to debride them and keep them bandaged. They healed finally around 10 weeks. So far I’ve had two stalls. My HW was 242, surgery day I was 226. At the moment I’m stuck at bouncing 189-190. Frustrating but it will pass. How old are your daughters? You should be able to fend for yourself just don’t lift anything over 5lbs.

    Constant Nausia

I freakin love Zofran (ondansetron) I carry them with me always. They’re expensive and my insurance sucks when it comes to covering it.
  14. I am 5’6 (and a 1/2) my surgery weight was 226. So I’m very close to you. My revision surgery was 8/8/17. Good luck on your journey. Just remember this is about you and your health. Whatever anyone else thinks just doesn’t matter. You got this. [emoji1360]

    Time off

Surgeon put me out for 6 weeks, I only used 5 weeks. A few of my incisions refused to heal so I was grateful for the extra time.

    What's your beauty secret?

Congrats on your 85lbs! My skin is super sensitive so I can’t play around with different products without losing out on tons of money. Currently the only moisturizer I’ve been able to consistently use is FAB (first aid beauty) I used pure coconut oil on my tummy when all those stab wounds were healing (which took forever!) coconut oil is good for just about anything.

    $177 in Vitamins!?!?

I use reviva liquid calcium citrate I purchased from costco.com and just chewable multi. My iron pills and b12 injections are prescribed. The calcium was under 25 for two large bottles. Iron costs me 6.10 for three months and I don’t know for the B12 since I’ve hit my annual coinsurance had been covered 100%. I’ve never purchased the “Bariatric” vitamins, my surgeons office didn’t say that it was necessary. I have my first blood draw next week though to find out my levels since surgery. So it’s always possible things change.

Anyone under 300lbs getting the surgery?

I was 226 on day of surgery (HW was 242 at first revision consult) only have asthma and back pain. This was a revision for me. Started with a lapband 7 or so years ago at a hw of 239. So glad I had the revision.

    The Nausea Struggle is REAL

Zofran (ondansetron) is a lifesaver. I hate being nauseated. Unfortunately my insurance only covers nine pills per every three months! Which is total BS. I get it, they’re expensive and usually for cancer patients but damn. Thank the baby Jesus that my bff has awesome insurance and gets like 150 pills a month for 2 bucks! She hasn’t had surgery but is prone to bouts of nausea. So thankful for the homie hookup.

    Final pant/dress size?

I’m 5’6, the highest size I wore was an 18 at 239. At 242 for my revision I was wearing 16s (8/8/17) yesterday I purchased jeans in size 12. They’re a bitt snug but my 14s are getting too big. I also always work 2x or 3x tops. I just purchased T-shirt’s in a large. My crescent roll stick out a bit but my other T-shirt’s in xxl are like dresses.

    Hiccups

I get hiccups when I drink hot liquids (tea mostly). Prior to revision I always thought it was a band thing. But now, without my band I still get the friggin hiccups when I drink hot tea. (Hot chai tea from Starbucks, maybe it’s their cups?) drives me bananas [emoji529]
  24. Ok I think he’s part of Chi Franciscan’s internal bariatric program. Again I have nothing but good things to say about everyone I dealt with from testing to surgery to recovery. [emoji4]
  25. Who's your surgeon? I had Dr. Srikanth, who is affiliated with Chi Franciscan. His practice is the center for weightloss surgery. It's in the building next to the main hospital. I only have good things to say about Dr. Srikanth and his office as well as the nurses who cared for me in the outpatient facility at Chi Franciscan. They were all just wonderful
