  1. I ate a cookie today.... the band made me do it! I agree, I don't think (in most cases) it is the band that is failing. I had GREAT education about the band prior to my surgery, I'm not sure that everyone gets all the info they need to make the right decision about the lap band. Continued good luck on your journey!
  2. Hi Debbie: Welcome aboard, and good luck on your journey!
  3. Great... so glad things are going well for you! Welcome to lap-band Talk!
  4. I was an early menopauser (45). Had not had my period for a year and a half prior to surgery. Two weeks after surgery, I got my period. Just once, but sort of freeked me out too. I agree, surgery does weird things to your body. It might not hurt to call your doctor tho... I guess I would call my GYN.
  5. I eat them a couple of times a week. They are easy and some of them are pretty good. I think the only problem with them is a lot of them are high in sodium. I don't have a blood pressure problem but if you do you might want to be careful with them.
  6. My dr told me three meals a day... no snacks. He said people that eat more than that get into the "grazing" mode and you can eat way more in 6 meals than you can in three. My understanding (from my dr) was 3 meals a day... should stay satisfied between meals, no snacks. I am currently right with that schedule. Perfect restriction. Don't get hungry between meals. Losing 3 - 4 pounds a week. ( now if I could just control that late night snack, but I usually do a cheese or a yogurt) Sometimes the 3 meal thing can be hard to get your protien in.
  7. I take 1 Centrum Multi Vitamin/Mineral (chewable) and 2 viactive calcium chews a day. Just had my blood work done and ALL of my levels were perfect.
  8. i had my 3rd fill and it was totally different too. It was very tight for about 3 days, then got a little better and I am at my "sweet spot" for the moment. Been 2 months and still have good restriction. However, the throwing up part is strange. See how it goes. My bites had to get even smaller than I have been doing in the past, but if i take too big of a bite it gets stuck, no matter how well I chew, so remember little little bites and chew chew chew! It seems like with every fill I have to learn to eat differently all over again. Good luck!
  9. I keep track of mine on lapband.com. My lap band journey! They have lots of good tools!
  10. I was losing my hair really bad at about 4 - 5 months. I talked to my dr. about it. She said that it is not falling out, it is breaking off... ? Still not sure about that, but the hair loss has slowed!
  11. I eat salads, seems to go ok, but yes... chew chew chew!
  12. Yes, diuretic effects. I was told that for every cup of coffee I drink I need to drink an extra 16 oz of Water. However, others on this site were told differently. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this.
  13. I learned the hard way! But eventually I learned!
  14. I find this to be very true... I drink 64 - 80 0z a day.
  15. I've had restriction from day one. I really don't understand the people who say they have "no" restriction, I would think you would have to have some??? Anyway, I've always had some restriction but your head has to be in the game. I really have to think... am I hungry or do I just want to eat something? Usually, if it is between meals... I just want to eat something to eat. Old habits die hard! LOVE MY BAND!
  16. What a sad loss for you and your family, good luck with your continued journey!
  17. Sounds like "life is good" Best of luck on your journey!
  18. My mom had bypass and passed away about 8 months afterwards do to complications and medication she was on. At that time I was considering lap-band surgery but just could not go thru with it. 7 month ago I did, some of my family were not thrilled about it but after everything turned out to be ok... they are all very happy for me! I think they will be happy for you too! Good Luck on your journey!
  19. Yes it does.... brag away, you deserve it!
  20. I don't think so.... but probably loaded with sugar!
  21. Well, I would consider my self a success, so far anyway! I have learned a lot on my relatively short journey of 7 months. I have learned if i eat junk, I don't lose weight. I have learned if I don't drink enough Water, I don't lose weight. And most importantly I have learned that if I don't exercise, I do not lose weight. I'm not saying this is what causes people to fail, but I can guarantee you if I did not follow these 3 little rules, I would fail! You can do it, but you have to go into it with the right mind set. You still have to work hard at it, but the lap-band is a GREAT tool to help you succeed! I love my lap band! Good Luck to you!
