  1. Hi Pam, here's wishing you a Wonderful Journey! Good Luck to you!
  2. Yes... protein fills you up quicker and keeps you fuller longer. Also, it builds muscle and muscle burns more calories that fat. There is a little bit of protein in almost everything we eat. Keep track of what you eat on fitday. It will tell you exactly how much protien is in food. You will get so you learn what to eat and how much. 82 g sounds like a lot. My Dr. wants me to get 60 - 70, but to be honest I usually get more than 80. Good Luck!
  3. They should be ashamed of themselves. If they want to get together after work and talk shit about the people who they are there to help and care for (and may I add pay their wages) so be it, but that was totally UN-professional and they should be repremanded for it. I think they chose the wrong profession. THAT'S HORRIBLE! Would they stand outside the cancer ward and bad mouth cigarette smokers, who are there dying of lung cancer, out loud for their grieving families to hear. My mouth is still hanging open... can not believe it!!! That being said, i wish you the very best of luck on your journey... don't know where I'd be in a couple of years without my lap-band.
  4. Yes... you should go back to liquids. You'll know if your band has slipped because you will not be able to keep solids down and you may have reflux. You should be fine tho... I have had this happen many times and I am always worried about slipping too. Just take it easy for a day.
  5. Absolutely... you are fine. Just get back on track. GOOD LUCK on your surgery!
  6. I love my band, I have had restriction since the very first day. A lot of people say they can eat as much as they ever could, but I could not begin to eat that much food. I had absolutely no problems with the surgery or afterwards except for some pain in my shoulders from the gas, oh, and some stuck episodes which I have pretty much gotten figured out. The Pro's for me have been I have lost 100 pounds in 9 months (one plateau for about 4 weeks) My blood pressure is now normal My blood sugars are now normal My cloesterol is now normal I sleep better I feel marvelous My knee pain is COMPLETELY gone. My hip only bothers me at night when i sleep if I have been really really active. I can cut my toe nails without holding my breath and coming up for air. The first time I got on the eliptical machine i went 6 minutes and thought I was dying, had to quit. Now... I kick that machines ass!!! Not really but I do 40 minutes, no problem. Honestly didn't think I could ever do that. I am way more active and I can stay up past 10:00pm at night. Honestly, can't think of a con. Maybe, lack of Fiber so hard to go to the bathroom (but I've started taking fiber and now that's fine) Maybe, I can still eat Cookies ( but I like that I can still have some of the "forbidden") Will Power... that's a con. It doesn't give me will power I have to come up with that myself (but really it does give me will power because it has motivated me so much that I find the willpower) Head Hunger... there is a con. It can not conqure my head hunger. Wouldn't that be great! Good Luck.... learn how the band really works, get educated about it, and it will work for you! That is my best advice.
  7. My brothers only Co-Mo was Sleep Apnea, he didn't have a problem but I think he was Medica.
  8. I lived on cottage cheese, carnation instant breakfast and scrambled eggs. No way I could puree food and get it down. That is a tough stage for some people. I was rarely hungry so that helped. Good Luck to you!
  9. Hi Renee ... welcome aboard! My best advice, get educated about the band and how it works. I'm suprised at the number of people who think it is a magic wand! Best of Luck to you! I love my band!!!

yup... I weighed 432 when I was banded 6-29-10. I hit a small plateau in November that lasted about a month but since then I have been a steady 8 - 12 pounds a month and still going strong. Good Luck to you!
  11. Not sure... but I don't think fluids can stretch your pouch?
  12. Nope... I posed this question to my Dr. a couple of weeks ago because I have upped my water intake to 100 oz. She said that I can drink as much as I want, not a problem. Good Luck!
  13. Well, if you are getting stuck a lot and throwing up, you should probably go in for an unfill. but it may ease up in a few days. Be really careful and take small bites and chew chew chew. You kind of have to play it by ear but you don't want to be over tight. It just causes you to eat the wrong foods (sliders) and if you get stuck a lot and it leads to throwing up you increase the risk of a slip. Lots of people get stuck a lot and throw up and never have a slip (speaking from experience) but you don't want to increase the chance. Good Luck, and remember the best answer would come from your Dr.
  14. I took 2 weeks off. Felt pretty yucky for 4 days... day 5 felt like my old self, except I got tired easily for about a month. I could have gone back after a week, but I had lots of Vacation time so I took the full 2 weeks off. Good Luck to you!
  15. I couldn't at first but I'm happy to say I can feel it more and more all the time!!!!
  16. I count calories... to me it's all about calories in / calories out.
  17. Good for you! I am 9 months and just over 100 lbs too but lots more to go yet. I couldn't imagine being able to eat 4 cups but I could still eat sweets to the breaking point! I love my band too and if there would be anything I could have different about the band it would be the sweets thing. They just go down too easy. Continued success to you!
  18. That's what I'm talking about!
  19. I think you, seriously, need an unfill. You should tell your Dr./Nut. this. You are eating high calorie stuff because you can get it down. You need protien and veggies. I think an unfill and being to eat real food would get you moving again. Good Luck!
  20. Breakfast - nothing (really tight in the am but sometimes have a yogurt) Lunch - Grilled chicken breast, orange & red peppers, onions on whole grain tortilla with 1 tbl spoon of light ranch. (leftover from night before) 350 cal 37g protien. snack - Warm from the oven oatmeal raisen cookie ( some one brought to work after lunch so it was more of a dessert than a snack. 65 cal. 1g protien . Supper - steak with 99% fat free mushroom soup (made kind of like stroganoff) thinned out with a little skim milk (was actually pretty good) on aprox.1 cup of noodles. Aprox 420 cal 36g protien. steamed carrots - 40 cal Evening Snack - yogurt 100 cal 5g protien 100 oz of water throughout the day Total: 975 cal 79g protien 72g of carbs (which is a little high, i almost never eat pasta)
  21. Awww... that stinks. You're not up to par yet and kind of got sent on an emotional roller coaster. You did great with the eating thing, that was will power!. The Mother In-Law might have went a little overboard! Good Luck on your journey!
  22. If your insurance said they'd cover it I say your in! Good Luck to you!
  23. I started taking "gummy fiber" They are like dots... 2 a day. Can't tell you how much it has helped me. I poop everyday now and it was more like every 4 or 5 and that was hard. I also try to eat more fiber in vegitables or have a fiber one bar as a snack. Good Luck And one day I ate an entire box of girls scout Cookies.
  24. You would think the professional would have the correct information. Neither, to my experience, is true.
  25. Probably normal, I hadn't had my period in 1 1/2 years. (I went thru early meno) Got it a week after my surgery. Just that one time, but it was like a totally normal period.
