Is this stupid...?
dFaults replied to SuzanneCollins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally understand! The pre op is to shrink the liver making it easy for the surgeon..mine doesn't require one either, but for my own piece of mind I thought i'd help her out :-)...based on what I've researched, high protein, less fat...chicken (not fried), turkey, leafy green veggies and a protein shake to coat your tummy are just some of the things I have tried. I've lost almost 5lbs just doing that every other day or so and I have more energy! Good luck! -
February 2011 Bandsters?
dFaults replied to justplaintired's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I'm going to stroke out! I am still waiting on a response from my surgeons office...something tells me I won't be able to be banded in February...I can't even get them to tell me if the sun is shinning outside! Please return a call respond to an email....dag! -
I totally understand. I was at a support group meeting for all types (RNY being the majority) and they just kept telling me and telling me that a RNY was the way to go...no...not for me. I've done my research and do believe that a lap band is best for ME. do not be bullied into something that you don't want. Stand up for yourself and the band. it's small in numbers, but it's something that needs to be done. Good luck!

The discourse/converstion on this forum
dFaults replied to tanqueray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amen! I believe that most are looking for someone to say , "it's ok that you had that whole pizza to yourself and that 2 liter of DIET coke. You did good by choosing DIET." WTH!! OMG! Hve some accountability for your actions. Your band can not see that you basically are totally relying on it to save you from yourself. Good post! -
No news today...still waiting...how long does it take for a doctors office to move a mile down the street?? lol
-
I'll admit to being one of the rude ones :-( In my defense, there is a reaction to every action and I'm a person that doesn't like to be picked on if I happen to be in the minority. I also will speak up for those who don't have a voice. But really I'm a nice nice person! :-D

50lbs! That's awesome! Keep up the good work Good luck to you tomorrow!

Your're a new bander??? From my understanding most surgeons place a band EMPTY. So 2 weeks out it's totally understandable that you are hungry. But you also have to remember that your body is still swollen and getting use to being banded. Now, if you were to say you were 6 months out, i'd have some concern. Be patient, keep doing the post op diets as you have been instructed and respect your band! Don't give in to indulgences and go back to old habits. Good luck! ...and with all the "horror" stories going on, I still feel the band is best for me and that a small % of people it will not work for. With that being said, it's a chance that I have to take. I don't think that I need a drastic surgery such as RNY, sleeve or DS, I just need a little help :-)

I made the news with my lap band story! Grammy nominated singer Jordin Sparks took me on a shopping spree!

You go girl! It's wonderful that through your weight loss process YOU can inspire others. Keep up the good work and keep spreading the news! -
Swirl... For a moment...if there were no WLS how would you eat to maintain your weight? What would be a typical lunch? Would you eat that whole hamburger and fries or would you get something more filling and last longer? Its all about choices! You have to be in control and not expect your band to do all the work. Still think that the band is a bad idea??wait til you get the bypass and find out what you can NEVER eat again...good luck!
-
Fluffy, 14fills/unfills?!?! That has to be abuse on your port. I understand now why you opted for a revision to the sleeve...I'm sure your lapband surgeon was sad to see you leave without your business I'm sure he has gone bankrupt...
-
The problem I see with this is that you continued to eat the way you did before surgery...with any WLS you need to change your eating habits. A little of something like fried chicken, fish or a ice cream isn't the end, but everything in moderation. That is the problem with most of us, we never cared about what we put into our bodies before. I use to be able to eat anything and walk, run, play it off..but after 3 kids and me hitting 30, my matabolism stopped. Now in addition to my band, I have to make better choices...
-
How long after surgery and how many fills/unfills did it take for you to hit your sweet spot? What size band do you have?

I've been preparing for my "non required" pre op diet and the EAS Protein drink is a good one...it coats my stomach and made me feel full longer. I also got the Carnation instant Breakfast, no sugar added, and blended that with some yogurt and that was filling as well. Are you able to have a meal? I like terikyi chicken frm Sam's club, 3oz is 30g of protein, then in my crockpot I do collards with a smoked turkey wing..mmm mmm good! Good luck with everything! I'm just waiting on insurance approval so in the meantime I twirl my thumbs...

I never had the back and forth...I did my research and decided a band was best for me. Even when I went to a seminar and 2 of the doctors staff were trying to convince me to do the sleeve, I kept my ground and went to another hospital...they were really pressuring me. Do your reasearch then talk to your surgeon. The choice is yours, but make sure that it is an informed one.. Good luck!

Maybe you should focus on the binge eating issue before the weight. That could be your major issue and you might not have to get a band. Also, what may work for one person may not work for you. They may have more resources available to them. So really get the eating issue under control. Abuse of the band could result in slippage, erosion.. Good luck!

What Vitamins are in your daily routine? It was suggested at my seminar (both actually, I went to 2 different doctors at 2 different hospitals) that I start multi Vitamin, Calcium and/or D3. I already had the multi vitamin, I brought a calcium with D3 in it only to discover it was the wrong calcium. I just got in from the store they had a bogo (buy 1 get 1) so I got the D3 and also some Biotin (need my hair to grow!) So once I get clarification on which calcium I should be taking (I thought calcium was calcium) I'll go out and get that too. I thought the reason for our bands was to take us off of our pills? I seem to have picked up 2 more...lol...j/k, I know these are diffrent...

Suggestions Please --- PCP won't help with 6 mth diet
dFaults replied to Lowpockets68's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm with PP..ask the surgeon that you want if there is someone that he works with. That's really strange coming from a doctor, they are sippose to help with your health and make suggestions, but the choice is totally yours! Good luck! -
I Hate My Job!!!!
dFaults replied to MaybeBanding26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My job always has a pitch in for something! Thursday it was my bosses last day..no he's not leaving the company, just changing shifts! We're going to see him, maybe every night, we just won't be reporting to him. We celebrate Tuesdays, or the birth of a child, nice weather or whatever...doesn't matter, we always have food. And if we don't, you can best bet another group does! -
what about having the surgery done in TJ MX?
dFaults replied to armizolana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry, I seen what you seen! I figured if Walmart could sell caskets, TJMax could do surgeries! If you go to youtube, you'll see where people have not had good success in Mexico. Not just for LapBand but for other surgeries as well. Do your reasearch on the doctors and make sure that a doctor here will do your fills. I know that the only 3 bands that my surgeon has had to remove have been from mexico. She WILL NOT fill anyone who had theirs done out of the country. Good luck! -
