Where are all the Michigan people at??

Good Afternoon northern michigan bandsters! I think i'm the only active poster from the Traverse City area on this site. Heard from a few girls that had their surgery at Grand Traverse Surgery back in January, but nothing since. Alpena to Port Huron for fills...wow, I think i'm one of the lucky ones , I only have to travel 40 minutes. juliaois......not sure where your coming from to head north to Munising, but if you come up 131 throught Kalkaska, be prepared for construction detours..the one around Kalkaska takes you 6 miles out of your way and then back on 131 north. LOVE Munising, we usually vacation around there once a summer, toured some of the waterfalls last summer. Have fun in the U.P. good luck on your surgery

Good Afternoon March bandsters! here is my NSV!!!!! Had two people at work ask if I'd been losing weight...No one knows I had the LB surgery. I said "Thanks!, my lifestyle changes are really paying off!" I'm glad someone, besides me, finally noticed! I've been working really hard with this band and a little compliment goes a long way for my motovation. I could kick myself! I never took body measurments before my surgery. I don't fit into my sz 18 pants any longer and the few pairs of 16's are kinda baggy in the waist. The scale hasn't moved in a few weeks, so i'm sure i'm losing inches with all my walking/jogging. Our local "fitness" center has a special for $30.00 a month, all the water aerobics, weight room usage and swimming you want. Thinking about joining for a month to see if I can really find the time to get away from the kids to do this. There isn't a trainer for the weight room, it's all on your own, not sure i would know what to do. Everyone have a GREAT WEEKEND.....let's all get outside and get our bodies moving! The snow is gone and spring has arrived in Northern Michigan!

    confused about restriction

Hang in there, your restriction will arrive! I'm happy to say that I have found my sweet spot. I think i'm one of the lucky ones that has found it after only 2 months. I had another cc added last week (total of 2cc in 4cc band) I started feeling restriction on Friday. It has been a long weekend. You have to remember up until now, I could eat without thinking, didn't have to chew really well, didn't really eat that slow and took normal size bites without problems or complications, could even chug a 20 oz h20 in 5 minutes. All that has changed! for lunch I had 3 broccoli florettes, 1/2 asparagus speer and around 10 bites of tilipia fish (maybe 1 1/2 ounces??) That took me around 10 minutes to eat, then I ate 1 tbsp of hummus with 2 reduced fat triskets and ate those too fast....The worst pain in my life! I really wanted to PB, but I haven't done that yet. My brain needs to get in touch with my pouch cause I really need to slow down! This last few days have been the hardest so far in my band journey, except of course the few days after surgery. I guess I got what I wished for, now lets see if some of this weight will come off! You'll get there soon enough, everyone hang in there.

I'm gonna be honest here. Since about two wks post-op (my banding was 3/14/07) I haven't really had to chew-chew-chew, take very long to eat a meal, or really have to slow down much at all, maybe on occasion in the a.m. Even after my 1st fill I didn't. But now I do. My last fill of an additional 1cc has done the trick. I knew by ppls posts and the LB rules what is expected of me when it comes to meal time. But as of Friday, I officially have to follow these rules. These few days have been hard. I haven't pb'ed yet but today i really wanted to. I thought i was gonna die. I spit and spit saliva but never did. This is taking some getting used to. Did good for dinner! went to Applebees and had the weight watchers talapia..yum-o! I had about 3 tbsp of it and a few bites of broccoli and 1 asparagus speer and I was totally full! Slow and steady really was the trick. I guess this is my NSV! I'm slowly learning how to use this cool new tool I have!....Oh, and I went down 1 pant size! woo-hoo Lost 30 lbs since November, 20 since banded. Thanks fro listening

    Sincere question for super sizers

I've been overweight since I was 9. Yes, I've been the heaviest person in the room on many occasions. I have always been the wall flower because I didn't want to bring attention to myself and my weight. I've on many occasions felt inferior because of being fat. I'm sure people here wonder why I had this procedure because I don't have 100 lbs to lose. but that's not the issue really. It's my health and self esteem and being around for my kids and husband for a long time. A high or low bmi shouldn't matter, we all have the same struggles with food and overeating. I'm glad this forum is here to open my eyes to others struggles and victories. We're all in it together.

Looks like thickchick and I have restriction!!! WOO-HOO! I'm drinking my h20 as slowly as possible and can feel it gurgling down, hope i'm not too tight. I got on the scale at Dr's office at 2pm and I had only lost 1 lb in two weeks. Dr took out my "before" pic from December and complemented my on having lost 20 lbs since surgery...said not to worry, I'm doing fine. He put another 1cc in my band for a total of 2cc. clear liquids today and tomorrow, full liquids Thurs and mushies on Fri. Darn it, hope the salmon I have thawing in the fridge doesn't go bad since I can't eat it until Sat. Hope all is well with everyone.

late* I received 1cc in my 4cc band two weeks ago. I haven't felt any restriction, as a matter of fact I had more b4 my fill. I'm hoping to get a fill tomorrow. If I've lost any weight these last two weeks I will be very surprised. Everyone is different as to how much saline gives what amount of restriction.

    new food products

Okay, here's my new favorite food: Quaker Soy Crisps BBQ or White Chedder (BBQ is the best) 18 crisps per serving, 110 calories, 5 fat, 14 carbs, and 7 protein! When I buy a bag I immediately put them in smaller snack size bags with 10 in each...my way of portion control.

I want restriction so bad! Thank goodness I will probably get another fill on tuesday. I can eat without pain or feeling full it's like there isn't a band there......is my pouch stretched?? how do you know?? Had a fun weekend with the family at the Great Wolf Lodge. Yes, I was in a swimsuit all day Saturday and had the best time on the waterslides. One bonus, the more weight on the back of the innertube, the faster you go! My only really uncomfortable moments were getting out of the innertube, I realized I could just "roll" over the side into the water and still look graceful! Did I mention I have no resitriction? I better be careful what I wish for, some here have said being too tight is miserable also. gotta go! everyone have a great day tomorrow

    Using the AbLounge

I would like to know also....anybody using this? QVC had one on the other morning that had arm exercises with it, kinda like a big rubber band with handles that is attached. Just wanting someone's opinion that uses it regularly

    Wow....That was HOT!!!!!

Yes, I did see Blake's performance....what a cutie! But, I'm going to be honest. I'm a girl of the 80's Jon Bon Jovi is still one of my old favorites. He was cute with his long, rock band hair and spandex tights when I saw him in concert in 1986 and today he still makes me drool! I rock out to Bon Jovi's greatest hits cd at least once a week while exercising.

Today I'm taking the good with the bad. Still not feeling restricted from my 1st fill on 4/23. :cry (that's no excuse!) According to Fitday I ate 1390 calories today. I was totally out of control. I tried to fix it this evening and walked for 2.5 miles on my treadmill. I walked 3.3 MPH swinging my arms holding two cans of chick peas! ..don't have any hand weights and switching off with my crosstrainer ski poles. Boy was I sweating! So after walking 1 mile this a.m. and then this evenings "power walk" I'm hoping to do my penance and make this day right. Tomorrow is another day and my head hunger will not take over my body! :peace:

Magnolia.. My fill didn't hurt at all, and i'm a BIG needle phobic! He had a hard time finding it, I had to lie down and push my abdombinal muscles out as hard as i could. The numbing shot was a little poke, not bad at all. I was on clear liquids 2 days, full liquids 2 days adn then mushies 1 day. Good Luck! I know a few of you told me to wait it out for my restriction to kick in...but thank goodness I'll see the Dr. on May 8th. cause it's not happening! My 1cc fill last Mon still is not noticable. If I eat fast and take big bites, I can really feel it. If I go slow and easy It seems I could eat forever, well you know what I mean! Been trying to eat the right things. no one said this would be easy Tomorrow I'm going to the support group my Dr's office puts on once a month. The topic tomorrow night is "Emotional adjustments" and the speaker will be the Dr. that gave my psych exam. This group is for all patients, RNY and LB. I'm hoping to get my head back on straight. Weekends seem to put me all outta whack! Eating at different times, It's a struggle to get in any scheduled exercise. I guess it's just defferent exercise, My DH and I cleaned the garage for 5 hours today. sweeping, hauling, lifting, bending, that counts right? Had leftover salmon from Bob Evans for dinner, 1/4 hamburger patty & broccoli, and a sip of milk. I have the munchies, I think a SF grape popcycle sounds good right now. Thanks for listening to my babble.

Also....exactly what is a crunch? Is it like a "half" of a sit-up?

Is it common to feel no restriction after a fill? I was only eating 1 cup of food b4 my fill happened and I knew when I was full or ate too fast, shoulder ache & hickups. Now, I'm 5 days after my fill and I don't feel that any longer. I was so hungery last night I (without thinking) ate a big bite of grilled chicken breast-and remembered half way through that I needed to CHEW and slow down, nothing..no lump in my throat like before, I wasn't uncomfortable a bit. Nothing was stuck. I had more restriction b4 my fill! I see the Dr. again on May 8th...he might give me another fill then...it will all depend on how much weight i've lost in 2 weeks and how much restriction I feel.

Had my 1st fill Monday 4/23 and I'm sooooo hungry! I'm on full liquids today and mushies until fri. Of course i'm hungry, liquids go right through! I've been doing water and tea and my protein drinks. I don't want anything high in calories, I don't want to gain any weight back. Think I'll go get a jello

It looks like all of us March bandsters are doing well, I know I've had a few bumps along the way. But learning to use this tool will take some trial and error and I remind myself "old habits are hard to break..but I'm doing my best!" Since my fill this a.m. I've had a weird pricking or stinging feeling by my port too....what is that? Kinda strange

I have my 6 week post-op appt on monday 4/23. I called the office to see if I need to follow a liquid or any special diet that day. The nurse said, the Dr. will determine IF you get a fill that day. What? She said it depends on how i'm doing on weight loss. Well, I'm not. 2wks post I had lost 12 lbs. from surgery, today i'm up 1 lb. so a total of 11 lbs since surgery. I've been working really hard! tracking cals and carbs and fat and protein and activities on fitday..I'm not even hitting 1000 cals a day! Been doing the treadmill 4x week, so walking around 6 miles a week! They better give me a fill on monday! I need to get this party started!!!!!!!
  21. Chubbola, Congratulations on the non-smoking status. I know we are in this for the long haul! Its been 120 days smoke free for me! I DON"T even think about cigarettes any longer. Trying to replace the "addiction" of not smoking and not being able to stuff my face, with something else. Still haven't found it yet! Well, I can think of one thing, but my husband would need to get a little blue pill!
  22. My Dr. stopped to see me a few hours after surgery in my room, then again the following day for a few minutes. No call at home or anything. Saw him in person at 2 weeks post-op.

    what can YOU not eat?

So here's my question: I can eat most of these things everyone has mentioned......will my ability to tolerate these things change once I get a fill, once restriction sets in?
  25. I love the muscle milk light. I've purchased the vanilla cream and the banana cream. It does not have the whey isolate protein, like my nutritionist wants me to use, but still has 25 gms protein.
