    Marchies 3-year bandiversary month!

Hope everyone is having a great lapband week! Had an upper GI yesterday and was scared, thought i would be told i had a slip or stretched my pouch..but no, just really tight band. The barium was a tiny trickle, so today Dr. took out 1cc. I realized my band has been too tight for the last year. I cried like a big blubbering idiot when I got on the scale 172 #'s Will be going to the support group meeting in April and am back on track with my exercise. Absolutely no junk food will enter my body! This is my 2nd chance... exercise and healthy eating are my 1st priority. Yeah baby!

    Marchies 3-year bandiversary month!

Well, I did it. I scheduled an appointment with my Dr. I told her it had been over a year since I'd been there and have an overall feeling something is wrong. I didn't tell the whole truth. I've had this sneeking suspicion that I have stretched my pouch out. I told her I wanted an upper GI before my appointment..i'm pretty sure they will find something wrong. On another note, I have been having terrible tummy troubles for the last few hours. The pain moved from where my port is, my lower stomach and then I get weird sensations upwards toward my band. I really have not been taking care of myself and have not followed the band rules for around 1 year now. I guess I deserve these problems. I'm hoping this appointment will be a slap in the face and a kick in the a** to put me back on track. I've read where ppl have had their bands removed because of erosion and slippage..please don't let that be me! I promise to be good no more junk food and emotional eating! Gosh, you are all good listeners. I'm sending you all the best and keep on the Band Wagon!

    Marchies 3-year bandiversary month!

I too have had numerous addictions, ice cream, cookies and the dreaded candy bars. I now have a new favorite "sweet snack" that I LOVE. Greek Yogurt with Honey is the best. It is like candy to me. 120 calories/0 fat/16 grams of protein for 6 oz. It's around $1.85 per container, but just think how much $ I've spent on all that other crap. I've feel as if I've been busting my butt with the exercise the last month, and have totally eliminated the snack foods, but the scale hasn't budged. I really should see the Dr. I haven't been back in 2 years, I wanted to lose a few pounds before I did, but can't seem to make it happen. Kinda disappointed with this whole situation. Taking it one day at a time. I'm gonna do this!

    Sharin' the Love--Marchies 2007

Hello, it has been well over a year since I posted here. My 3 year bandiversary is coming up but not very excited. My eating habits are out of control and I'm too ashamed to get back into the Dr. to check on my band. I was down to 149 and I'm back up to 170. I exercise on a semi-regular basis. It started out slowly, a cookie here, chips now and again, candy bars are the worst. I'm afraid I stretched out my pouch and if I go to the Dr. he'll judge me and wonder what the hell I wanted this band for if I'm gonna have terrible eating habits again. Well, I wonder the same thing. I was in a sz 10, now in a tight 12...I refuse to go buy a size 14 pants. I've been using Fitday again to track my food. Reality is setting in and I'm trying to get back on track. Thanks for listening.
  5. Just hoping to hear from anyone in Traverse City that had G.T. Surgery do their LB. Some of you might be 6-7 months post-op and wanted to know how things are going. How are fills? I've heard the Dr's have missed a few times and had to go to Munson for fluro. Just hoping for an update. Thanks!

    Marchies...jumpin' into June!

Appt went okay. I haven't had any problems, and no pain. Whatever it was, being on liquids & mushies over the weekend helped. (and NO f***ing weight loss!) I have lost no weight since my last appt in March. Janine.....If I were to do it again, I wouldn't push the food choices. When I 1st started out, I didn't eat bread, cake, tortillas, buns and I never touched a thing that the "rules" said you shouldn't. I'm sure that is why most of my weight loss was the 1st 7 months after surgery. I got comfortable with the band and kept testing what I could and could not tolerate. The stuff I could, I kept eating. Thats what I would do different. Oh, and the skin thing, it did not shrink back up. I will not be purchasing a bikini, Hugh will not be asking me to pose in playboy, and thank goodness for my super elastic control briefs, they hold in the tummy skin, but then some creeps over my pants to form a "muffin top" Not a pretty pic. have a great weekend everyone!

    Marchies...jumpin' into June!

Looks as if everyone is still going strong! You are all an inspiration. I'm scared that there is something wrong with my band. I've been having weird pain on and off the last couple weeks. It's to the right below my left breast...right where my band is placed. I've been extra extra careful to eat slow, but about 5-10 mins later sharp pain. When it's really bad I have shoulder pain. Today I called the Dr and he's out until my appt on Tuesday, I really wanted them to order a barium swallow, but couldn't without the dr's okay. I've been doing liquids for 1 1/2 days and have been okay. I keep remembering Jeanie's story about having her band removed and I'm a bid freaked out. No vomiting, no pbing, I get a tiny bit of acid reflux when my stomach is empty, mostly just sharp pain when the food tries to go thru the band. Going camping this weekend and hopefully can keep my mind off food. Everyone have a georgous weekend!!

    ~magnificent Marchies In May~

Nothing new here either. Not sure why I've been so depressed the last 2 months. Seems my Wellbutrin isn't kickin' it in like it used to. Perhaps it's hormonal. The last 2 weeks I've eaten everything in site. Just like the pre-band days. Eating a bunch of crap and eating too much of it. I even postponed my Dr. visit because I was too ashamed to get on the scale there. I have lost no significant weight in the last 6 months. Up and down the same 5 lbs. I know this is not the bands fault...it's me. The same mentaility I had before. My dh says I look good and I have to realize that there comes a point in time that I will not lose any more weight, and perhaps that's where I am. But I don't want it to be. 20 more lbs is all!.... Boy am I whining! Sorry for spilling it, gotta run.

    ~magnificent Marchies In May~

Hey there! It does seem that my computer isn't on as much now that the weather is getting better. Been digging new flower beds and transplanting overgrown flowers. I've been doing my best to get on my bike every morning. I have approx. 30 minutes from the time I get the kids on the bus to when I have to get ready for work to ride my bike. I can usually get in 5.5 miles..(i'm guessing) I feel as if I'm getting more out of my workout riding my bike instead of walking. My HR stays at target longer and I'm not gasping for air. gotta run!

April Foolin' for Marchies of 2007

Sophie Thanks for posting. That's me exactly! I've gotten used to the feelings of fullness that used to make me stop. Time to re-think this. I want to be to my goal by my 40th in August. Not sure I can lose 20 lbs in 3 months. On another subject................. Has anyone had problems with queezyness on carnival rides? Is it my band causing this? I had a hard time this weekend riding the spinning apples and the tilt-a-whirl and the gravitron and the hanglider ride with the family. It kept getting worse, I had to sit down I was feeling so sick. take care

April Foolin' for Marchies of 2007

Hey everyone! Been a few days since anyone posted. Just dropping in to say "Hi" and hope all is well. Spring is here! Forget that treadmill, I'm outside now! Biked 30 minutes this am (that's all the time I have between getting the kids on the bus and getting ready for work) and boy did it feel great, my legs where screaming and I loved it. Everyone take care

April Foolin' for Marchies of 2007

So glad it's spring! The neighbors probably thought I was crazy on Saturday, I was shoveling the snow and ice from my flower beds into the yard to melt faster! It's working. Family took a 2 mile hike on a local trail, I challenged my DD (10 yrs) to see how far she could jog with me. I'm proud to say I kept going after she stopped. Whitepants, Hang in there. If you are still experiencing these problems in 2-3 weeks, I would see the Dr. I myself was just accepting my reflux problems and come to find out my band was way too tight. Just don't want to see you struggle. See ya later everyone! HAPPY SPRING!!**

April Foolin' for Marchies of 2007

I've been really cold this winter also! All winter I've worn a t-shirt, long sleeve shirts and over that a sweater of some sort. We received an electric mattress pad for christmas and mine has been cranked up to high all winter! I am really welcoming spring and the sunshine. Hang in there Jeni, you'll get back in onederland in no time! I've been stuck at my current weight for around 6 weeks, even walking harder and longer doesn't seem to help right now.

    Marchies Bandiversary Month

Just an FYI to those with reflux during sleep...my Dr. wasn't all too happy with me that I didn't contact him sooner. I had been suffering for around 2 months. He removed .25cc and I haven't had a problem since. I feel so much better. It was getting to the point where I was consuming the easy to get down foods like chips, shakes, cookies to satisfy myself cause the good food wouldn't go down comfortabily. Just my experience and opinion, if you're too tight it's not always a good thing. I can now however, eat around 2-2 1/2 cups of food at dinner, which I think is to way too much, might ask if I can get .10 cc fill. I do not think I'm at my sweet spot any longer like I was last fall I really have the winter blues and am ready and waiting for spring to arrive. If the snow would melt off the bike trail, I'd be happy to ride with my winter gloves and hat on!....I wanna Get on my bike and off this damn treadmill !!!!!!

    Marchies Bandiversary Month

I've been reading but haven't had time to write....also been thinking about thick chick & janine....Actually thought about you janine the other day when I received an e-mail about a Gardening Conference at the Comfort Inn in Mt. PLeasant in April....I instantly thought of you!.....I cannot, however attend so perhaps we'll meet another time  WEIRD stomach ache the other night, right under my rib cage, terrible stabbing pains and nothing would stop it, this happened 4 times in the night for about 10 minutes each. Kinda felt like spasams. Did only liquids yesterday and today did eat some tuna and soup. I was kinda worried But DH had the same problems yesterday so I'm thinking it was illness related and not band related. My treadmill and I have become re-aquainted and I feel so much better now that I'm back on a schedule, I can "run" for almost 2 minutes now and alternate that with 4 minutes of vigorious walking. I set aside 40 minutes every morning and am starting to love it. Oh, almost forgot. My newest source of protein "Protein 2Go" by Designer Whey. It's powder you add to your water, 50 cals, .5 fat, 10 protein. The orange mango is good $1.39 a packet..just an FYI sorry so chatty tonight...everyone take care

    Donated blood since being banded...Help!

I've donated at least 4 times since my surgery...no problems here. One of the questions on the forms asks when your last surgery was and for what reason...I told the nurse and it was no big deal. There is one thing I have learned since being on these forums...Doctors have different rules for everyone depending on your particular case.

alaverde lala jeni & juli....holy crap! you all have something to be proud of..what a great weight loss over the last year. I'm with hiliraous...haven't done much this winter, but stepping it up and hoping to see results soon. I LOVE salmon, that is my all time favorite protein, cottage cheese and tuna is good too. gkeyt..what a great job with the running. I've been trying, I can run about 1 1/2 minutes on my treadmill, or when I walk at the indoor ice rink, I can usually run 3/4 of the way around..How did you build up your stamina? My problem is I can't get enough oxygen and i'm huffing & puffing. I have short legs and 4.3 mph on the treadmill is running for me. I'm really proud of everyone here...keep up the good work Have a wonderful Easter weekend.

Where are all the Michigan people at??

Blund I've been to the "support group" meetings. They are in the same room we had the info seminar in at Munson. The place was packed, mostly RNY patients and not very one-on-one. The speaker spoke and we listened. I'm looking for something a little more intimate. Where you can talk face to face with LB friends. I'm not aware of any groups like this. I'm 1 year out and my only support is this forum Hope you get your surgery date soon! Good Luck! Keep us informed.

    Marchies Bandiversary Month

I keep scrolling up and can't stop looking at the before & after pics...you all are awesome! Dr. reviewed my upper GI and I went in for a slight unfill this am. Nurse did the unfil and took out .25cc.....OMG what a difference! I guess I haden't realized the last 2 months what was really going on with my band. I just thought I needed to really slow down, and my issues were my fault of not following the rules to a T. ****I lost 2 lbs since being weighed in the office on Mon! The nurse was very kind today, she consoled me and told me to trust my instincts, if something seems outta whack, call the Dr. Everyone have a super day!

    Marchies Bandiversary Month

Everyone's pictures look great! I can't believe it's been 1 year for all of us! So....went to the Dr. yesterday I'd lost 3.5 #'s since December Nurse said, "you've only lost 51 lbs in 1 year, is this where you want to stay"? (kinda snotty) I admitted I'd been in maintainance mode this winter and had a lot going on and haven't exercised with any regularity. Man, did I feel like shit! I mentioned the reflux I'd been getting in the middle of the night, so I wasn't eating after 7pm. I can eat bread and meat in the pm, although slowly. My band is looser in the pm, as is everybodies. Dr. ordered a upper GI this am and my band is TIGHT! It took 25 minutes to get 2 swallows of the drink to go thru my band. I guess I didn't realize what the sensations were while I was drinking & eating, I just thought I needed to slow down. I haven't slimed or vomited in forever so I didn't think tightness was an issue. So, as soon as Dr. calls, will probably schedule a slight unfill. My exercise routine is back on track again. I feel good about myself even though the nurse made me feel like I had accomplished nothing in the last year. My Stats: Highest 226 Nov. 07 201 Surgery 3/14/07 196 Current 3/11/08 149.50

    Marchies Bandiversary Month

I hear you Nikki, I've pretty much been "maintaining" this winter. Havent gained, but havent lost either. Up and down the same 2-3 lbs the last 4 months. Started back with my walking last week and I have to say I feel much better about myself. Nervous about seeing the Dr. on Monday. Guess I'm afraid of a "what the hell you been doing all winter?" lecture. Ready to get back on track with my band. Perhaps I need a slight fill. Counting calories on fitday and exercising at least 4 day a week! That's my goal for now.
