Bod Pod
I am considering having a body composition analysis done here at the University of Minnesota using a Bod Pod. Has anyone else had a Bod Pod analysis done. Here is a video about the process: http://www.bodpod.co..._bp_testprocess Cost is $40 - this I will have it done now and then again after I have hit goal. Please let me know if anyone had had this done or your thoughts! Kim

Here in Mexico with Dr. Kelly
I had surgery with Dr Kelly and I DID receive pain mediation and was also sent home with some so I am not sure what you mean that he did not use narcotics. I was sent home with pain pills, acid reflux meds and antibiotics. Never did I have a pain issue or feel my pain was not managed. In fact I did not want some of the pain meds that the nurses were giving me the second night after surgery and I had to argue with them a bit be cause they said they were ordered by Dr Kelly. I was in florence hospital and never felt my bed was uncomfortable at all - perhaps it was just luck of the draw???? You are correct Sam (Dr Kellys son) does not speak much English - that was never an issue for me as Dr Kelly, Trish and all of my nurses except one spoke perfect English. I don't think Sam ever really needs to have that much interaction - he did just fine with use when he took us shopping etc. Cute and polite young man in my opinion. I hope you each have a great recovery Mine has been textbook perfect thus far! KIm

Dr. Kelly - Complications
I know there was a person there when I was there that DID NOT have complications just wanted to stay longer in hospital because they were scared to go to the hotel. THey would have let her stay in the hospital another day - and from what I understand not additional cost. She finally decided to go to the hotel because there were a couple of us at the hotel and she would not be alone. Dr Kelly and Trish are amazing kind Christian people and very easy to talk to - Best wishes!

January sleevers how are you doing?
Hello January sleever! I was sleeved on January 6th by Dr Ramos-Kelly. I have lost a total of 42.8 pounds (20 since surgery). Seem to be averaging about 3-3.5 pounds per week now at 5 weeks out. So far I have met 2 of my goals: Onederland and my Half Way goal! I love my sleeve - the best gift I ever gave myself! Eating soft foods now, mostly tuna, fish, cottage cheese, cheese etc. Still drinking a Protein shake for Breakfast daily. No problems at all except Water still does not taste right to me, so I struggle with liquids. Love in my sleeve! Kim

HAS ANYONE GOTTEN THEIR SLEEVE IN TIJUANA MEXICO?
I too had surgery in Mx and worked directly with Dr Kelly and Trish. I have only positive things to say and a wonderful experience. My care was top notch, nice clean safe hospital and no complication. A hospital -Florance Health Care/Oasis of Hope - not a strip mall surgical suite. Excellent service, care and Christian environment. No complaints or complications here. If you want more details on my experience read my blog or send me a message and I am happy to share. Kim

scared in san diego
Vickie - sending lots of prayers love and cyber hugs your way! I felt the exact same way the night before surgery when I was in Tijuana. I called my hubby and kids and said I was coming home and couldn't do it. My darling hubby said a prayer with me over the phone and I just kept praying and I got through it! It's about FAITH. Faith that the good Lord will wrap his healing arms around you and guide you safely through surgery and back home again. Faith that this decision is the right one for you! I believe Gold played a role in bringing me to Dr Ramos-Kelly. Once I met him and Trish all fear left me mind and heart and I just knew I was going the right thing for me. It is not easy - infact the first 3-4 days I was miserable, then I turned the corner and have felt great ever since! Now 5 weeks out I am down over 42 pounds total (20 since surgery) and I am over half way to my goal! Take a deep breath, visualize where you will be a year from now and where you have come from. Believe in yourself and your decision to have this surgery, trust God and have faith! Best wishes - please let us know when you are on the other side! Kim

2 days out
Oh my dear I am sorry you are feeling so down! I am sending prayers your way for you to being feeling better! No one could have properly prepared me for th the first 2or 3 days after surgery! I too had initial regrets because I felt so miserable. But but day 4 I was much improved and now 5 weeks out tomorrow - no regrets at all! The leak test goes fast. Just drink it down and watch the screen. After that you are on your way to recovering and beginning to get back to normal! I know Trish and Dr Kelly will help you in any way that they possibley can-ask for what you need! This is a life changing surgery and I know it is a shock to the system. I remember laying there thinking _OMG what have I done! Give your body and mind time to heal and catch up with each other. The future will be amazing - but for now focus on each day just getting enough Water in and walking. I promise it will be better - the pain and uncomfort are temporary! Hugs and prayers coming your way! Kim

My husband does not support me.
I am sending hugs, love an prayers your way for your surgery tomorrow! I know Dr Kelly and Trish will take great care of you and comfort you too! YOu will do excellent on your journey! Hopefully your hubby will continue to come around. It can be scary to know the one you love is going to change pretty drastically physically and emotionally. Please let us know how surgery goes once you are recovering! Say hi to everyone there for me - Trish, Dr. Kelly, Sam (his son) and Alberto (at the hospital). My God keep you in his healing and loving hands throughout surgery and your recovery! Hugs Kim

I made my first goal! Onederland!
Thanks everyone! I celebrated by buying myself a new Coach purse today! Hubby took me out shopping and then to lunch (soup). I walked over 4 miles shopping so hopefully will be down a bit more in a few days! Wanted to buy some new jeans but I am really in between and my body is doing weird things as my shape changes! I usually have carried my weight in my legs and rear but (ha ha butt) I am losing it there first and my tummy seems to be so flubby and blubby! Jeans fit but all that flubby is hanging over the top. Tried on some 12's that worked but cannot stand the look of the "muffin top" hanging over so I passed on them. I just need to wait for my body to lose a bit more and re-arrange itself. Anyone else have this issue? Kim

Just got surgery date, but I am so scared, anyone else feel like this?
Totally normal to be nervous, scared, excited, anxious... I can think of 100's of other words. This is a life changing journey - one that I would gladly repeat! I wish I had done this sooner - I am in my late 40's but at least I will live the next half of my life much healthier and thinner! Best wishes!

I made my first goal! Onederland!
Well I made it! Yesterday my scale read 199.6 today it says 198.8 so I am there the coveted Onederland. It sure feels good! Next goal is 197.4 That is my half way to goal, goal! And that means that only 1.4 pounds stand between me and my second goal! I am hoping to meet that goal in the next 5 days - we leave on vacation on Friday and would like to be there by then! Goals.... I have to go buy a tape measurer so I can measure my inches lost. I keep reminding myself to do this but to day I have not. I really should be doing this and today I am going to got get one and have my hubby measure me up. I am only 4 weeks out from surgery so it's not to late! I think my goals go in 10 pound increments after the midway goal. 190, 180 etc. This journey has not been easy, but it certainly has not been hard thus far. I love my sleeve and all of the awesome support that I get here from fellow pre-sleevers and post sleevers! I love my sleeve!

My Willpower
Victory is yours! Way to go... just walk away from all the crappy junk food! Nice thing is our company has replaced most of the junk foods with healthy options and have lots lower prices on the healthy food and Water ($0.25) than the junk and pop $1.25). Keep up the good work - you inspire us all! Kim

Today I am 3.4 pounds from Onederland and just 6 pounds from my half way point. I just realized that at 197.4 I will be half way to goal weight! I have lots to be thankful for! My sleeve is a blessing!

4 months today - down about 53 lbs.
Congrats on the weight loss so far! You inspire me! We all know about the "hair thing" but I love your attitude - short and sassy - it will grow back. I have fine thin hair already - not looking forward to what I know will soon come. But like you, I will just make may eyes "POP" with a little extra make-up, some big earrings and jewelry as a diversion! It will grow back eventually - but who is looking at your hair when they are noticing your amazing transformation? Well done sleeve sister - keep up the great work and keep posting, I love following your journey. Hugs! Kim

Dr. R. Kelly
Excellent choice! He is an amazing surgeon and man. I did a ton of research first and found another woman (my sleeve sister Davida) who had surgery on the same day as I did with Dr Kelly. We both felt that there was sort of divine intervention on how we met and chose Dr. Kelly. You are in great hands with him. My entire experience can only be summed up in one word... AMAZING! Now who can say that about a surgical experience?! Best wishes!

Question about when you started mushys ... pain
Thanks everyone... I think eggs will wait till later!

Question about when you started mushys ... pain
Good morning sleevers! I started mushys today and had a fluffy scrambled egg with a little sprinkle of cheese. I added milk to the egg so it would be extra fluffy. I took baby sized bites but still felt pain in my upper stomach area when it went down. Now about an hour later I am having a burning like pain between my shoulder blades. Anyone else experience this. I have never had hearburn so dont know if that is what I am feeling. I have had a fairly easy recovery thus far = but this pain really scares me. Its not sharp - it is more like burning??? Thoughts? I am going to limit myself to one mushy per day this week and the rest liquids - to transition my tummy over the course of time. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance. Kim
