  1. Background... I was sleeved on January 6, 2011 by Dr Kelly in TJ, MX. I am about 5.5 months out and have lost 68.4 pounds and have about 16.5 to go till goal. I am still trying to figure my tiny tummy out! How is it that when I eat more, I lose more? Recently my scale moves the most when I eat the most. On days that I really stick to plan eat 100 grams of protein; and get all of my Water in - I lose about 4 ounces. THEN on days like yesterday - I eat more than normal, snack more than normal and have a couple of cocktails rather than water - I lose a pound overnight..... The scale is a funny thing! Some weeks I lose less than a pound some weeks I lose 3-4. I cannot figure it out. What I do know is that the combination of working out 3-4 times a week (3 of those with a personal trainer for strength training followed by cardio), eating about 90-100 grams of Protein a day and drinking 64-80 oz of water daily and keeping calories to about 850-1000 a day has gotten me to where I am today. I am not the fastest loser - and that is ok. I am here and I am happy! - I have gone from a size 16 to a 10 (and some 8's!) - 239.8 to 171.4 - thats 68.4 pounds gone forever! - My feet have shrunk - I have half the hair I used to and now am sporting short hair (temporary I hope!) - Shirts are now a medium - was in XL and some XXL - I love that I can walk into any "normal" size store and find clothing that fits. I Cannot get used to not shopping from the end of the rack where the largest sizes are - I can now start shopping in the middle of the rack. I constantly try things on that are to large - sure beats trying things on and having nothing fit! - Yep my tummy has a bit of lose skin. I have bat wing arms and may be shopping for a training bra soon! I am not sure if I will ever figure out my tiny tummy and as I read over my list of successes above not sure that I really need to! All I need to do is enjoy each day and be thankful for this gift that I received from God and Dr. Kelly. My goal is closer than ever and I truly believe that I will get there eventually! Enjoy your journey! Kim
  2. I say Labor Day too! 2 months is a good timeframe. Weight loss going a bit slower than I had wanted right now - I know I am losing inches. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will slowly creep to my goal SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Kimmes..........239.8....................172.4...........170............2.4
  3. Exactly as KellyL said - I have Titanium staples - and Dr Kelly uses a 34 bougie. I went with Dr Kelly and have not had a single regret/complication or issue! Best wishes on your journey!
  4. Wow that is amazing you are doing awesome - congrats!
  5. Congrats that is amazing! The century mark for you! I am going to do the happy dance for you!
  6. Sherri - I am sending you good thoughts and prayers! Please keep us posted. I just went through this with my Mom. We were lucky enough that they caught it early stage and she did not need to have radiation or chemo. She is currently doing some hormone therapy. I know you are scared - have faith! The power of prayer is amazing! We are here for us if you need us! Best wishes.... Kim
  7. Thanks - I think I have done well myself. I am down 66 pounds today and have 18 to go till goal. I do work out 3 days a week with a personal trainer - trying to tone up some of those muscles to fill out my lose skin! I too am hyperthyroid and stage 3 kidney disease (the last one was just diagnosed last month). I am loving my smaller clothes... now size 10 and medium tops. This was the best gift I have ever given myself! Kim
  8. Diva You inspire me! YOu have no idea how you inspire so many! Thank you for your positive attitude and sharing your personal story. I love following your journey! Goal is within your reach! Kim
  9. I worked directly with Dr Kellys assistant Trish.. call her at (619) 955-6771 and (619) 395-5347. Tell her Kim referred you to her - so she knows how you got her phone number. Dr Kelly is amazing and changed my life!
  10. Good morning Jan 2011 sleevers! I wish I could say I was at goal here 6 months out... but still have 19 pounds to go! I have lost almost 66 pounds and I love my sleeve. Yes the rate of loss has slowed down but I am still losing inches. Actually squeezed my but into a pair of size 8 levis a few weeks back. STAY ON PLAN... get your Protein in! Focus is what we need. Oh and hair.. I miss my hair!
  11. Name.......... start weight................Current...........Goal.............lbs to goal Kimmes.........239.8...............................175.0.............170..............5.0! Getting there! I am 5.0 pounds to my 4th of July goal at that time I will be 6 months out from surgery. I am currently 20 pounds exactly from my ultimate goal of 155!!
  12. I did not have the option of recovery house but stayed at the Lucerna. This was a very nice property similar to a Marriott. Great pool, dining and service was wonderful. Many patients stay here for various bariatric and plastic surgeons in Mx to the staff is familier with providing great service and most speak English. Best wishes on your journey! You have selected a wonderful surgeon!
  13. Thanks for starting this thread Irene... This really got me thinking! 3. Buying normal clothes - not going to the largest size clothes in a "normal" store and finding not a thing fits. I can now confidently go to a size 10 or less and know they will fit! 2. The way my husband wraps his arms around me and picks me up.... He has been there for me thick and thin! 1. The confidence that I feel when I walk into a room and see old friends. I know they are now thinking... "She looks great" and not "man has she let herself go!" Not just confidence but actually liking the person I now am, and not feeling like a dissappointment to myself any more!
  14. I am another Dr Kelly success.... wonderful surgeon and kind Christian man. Work directly with Trish if you can... she will take great care of you! If you have any questions... just ask! Kim

  18. Congrats on your success! Feels wonderful doesn't it!
  19. Like Kelly L. above I too was a Dr Ramos-Kelly patient. Her experience mirrors my experience and can sum it up in a couple of words - Amazing and a blessing! I loved both Dr Kelly and Trish and have had and excellent experience thus far! I love my sleeve! I am constantly sharing my story with those who ask questions, are concerned about going to Mexico or are considering the VSG procedure. My surgery was $5300 on Jan 6, 2011. I know the price has increased to $5500 now - worth every single penny. Many people pay 3-4 x what I paid. Dr Kelly has performed 1000's of these procedures. His bedside manner is unlike any I have ever experienced. A kind caring Christian man who spent time conversing and learning about me and my family - and sharing about his. I would return in a heartbeat and recommend him to family and friends! Enjoy your journey! Kim
  20. Getting closer to my July 4th goal! SN.............. Starting Wt........ Current....... Goal.......Lbs to Goal Kimmes.............239.9..........177.8.............170 ...............7.8!

  23. My office happens to be right next to our corporate "wellness director" who is also a fitness buff and kick boxing instructor. She has been super supportive and helped me find my trainer who I am working out with 3x a week. Every single day as she arrives to her office she stops by my door and says something - recently she has called me: Skinny butt - which I would never been called prior to surgery! Skinny mini Slimmie Kimmie (not slimey Kimmie) Disappearing Diva The list goes on - I actually look forward to seeing her face everyday now - I used to dread seeing her - as she was the picture of true physical health and I was not! I am getting there though. I just realized this morning that I am 23.4 pounds away from my goal. Amazing! I love my sleeve!
