  1. I say Labor Day too! 2 months is a good timeframe.

Weight loss going a bit slower than I had wanted right now - I know I am losing inches. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will slowly creep to my goal

    SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal

    Kimmes..........239.8....................172.4...........170............2.4

  2. Sherri -

I am sending you good thoughts and prayers! Please keep us posted. I just went through this with my Mom. We were lucky enough that they caught it early stage and she did not need to have radiation or chemo. She is currently doing some hormone therapy.

I know you are scared - have faith! The power of prayer is amazing! We are here for us if you need us! Best wishes....

  3. Thanks - I think I have done well myself. I am down 66 pounds today and have 18 to go till goal. I do work out 3 days a week with a personal trainer - trying to tone up some of those muscles to fill out my lose skin! I too am hyperthyroid and stage 3 kidney disease (the last one was just diagnosed last month). I am loving my smaller clothes... now size 10 and medium tops. This was the best gift I have ever given myself!

  4. Name.......... start weight................Current...........Goal.............lbs to goal Kimmes.........239.8...............................175.0.............170..............5.0!

Getting there! I am 5.0 pounds to my 4th of July goal at that time I will be 6 months out from surgery. I am currently 20 pounds exactly from my ultimate goal of 155!!

  5. I did not have the option of recovery house but stayed at the Lucerna. This was a very nice property similar to a Marriott. Great pool, dining and service was wonderful. Many patients stay here for various bariatric and plastic surgeons in Mx to the staff is familier with providing great service and most speak English.

Best wishes on your journey! You have selected a wonderful surgeon!

  6. Thanks for starting this thread Irene... This really got me thinking!

    3. Buying normal clothes - not going to the largest size clothes in a "normal" store and finding not a thing fits. I can now confidently go to a size 10 or less and know they will fit!

    2. The way my husband wraps his arms around me and picks me up.... He has been there for me thick and thin!

    1. The confidence that I feel when I walk into a room and see old friends. I know they are now thinking... "She looks great" and not "man has she let herself go!" Not just confidence but actually liking the person I now am, and not feeling like a dissappointment to myself any more!

  7. Like Kelly L. above I too was a Dr Ramos-Kelly patient. Her experience mirrors my experience and can sum it up in a couple of words - Amazing and a blessing! I loved both Dr Kelly and Trish and have had and excellent experience thus far!

I love my sleeve! I am constantly sharing my story with those who ask questions, are concerned about going to Mexico or are considering the VSG procedure. My surgery was $5300 on Jan 6, 2011. I know the price has increased to $5500 now - worth every single penny. Many people pay 3-4 x what I paid. Dr Kelly has performed 1000's of these procedures. His bedside manner is unlike any I have ever experienced. A kind caring Christian man who spent time conversing and learning about me and my family - and sharing about his. I would return in a heartbeat and recommend him to family and friends!

    Enjoy your journey!

  8. Ha ha - but LilMissDiva - I think you are owning the name Disappearing Diva now! Keep it going Irene- you are my mentor here! tongue.gif

Oh these are great!!! I just love trying to keep it positive, and though many of these remarks will take us off guard it's so nice to know that our efforts are showing. :)

@Kimmie: I love the Slimmie Kimmie... that's a really good one. I'm going to start calling you that now... heehee. :)

  9. My office happens to be right next to our corporate "wellness director" who is also a fitness buff and kick boxing instructor. She has been super supportive and helped me find my trainer who I am working out with 3x a week. Every single day as she arrives to her office she stops by my door and says something - recently she has called me:

Skinny butt - which I would never been called prior to surgery!

    Skinny mini

    Slimmie Kimmie (not slimey Kimmie)

    Disappearing Diva

The list goes on - I actually look forward to seeing her face everyday now - I used to dread seeing her - as she was the picture of true physical health and I was not! I am getting there though. I just realized this morning that I am 23.4 pounds away from my goal. Amazing! I love my sleeve!Banane59.gif

  10. You can read about my entire experience on my blog here on vertical sleeve talk. I had an amazing experience and would do it again in a heartbeat!

I always felt safe and well cared for - my hospital and hotel were top notch. A driver picked me up at the San Diego airport and delivered me safely into the hands of Trish - Dr Ramos-Kellys personal assistant. From there it was all good! If you have any further questions please Pm me and I will try to help.

Congrats to you for doing your research - you will learn the good and bad. The price I paid was $5300 and that was worth every penny! I did not work with any US coordinator - I worked directly through Dr Kelly and Trish in TJ - just my personal preference, and I am super glad I did it that way!

Fire away any questions you have - there are lots of people with lots of valuable opinions here that will assist you! Best wishes on your journey!
