  1. Sadie - I hope that you are feeling better today! I remember the day when I had a load of little ones (I have 5 also - but now they are 19-25 years old!!) and they passed around the stomach flu......ish! I too have dreaded the thought of getting sick after VSG.....Oh Lord! Can't even begin to go there!

I hope your household is recovering well and things all clear up for the holidays - which are upon us! Have a wonderful Christmas - I bet it's crazy at your house at Christmas. And have a VERY happy new year! Your surgery date will be here before you know it! 2011 is going to be a great year!

    Blessings and hugs!

    Kim

  2. I have 2 nights in hospital and 2 nights at hotel. Surgery on Thursday Jan 6th and fly home the following Monday Jan 10th. I booked an aisle seat so I can get up and stand and move a bit. I have talked tonquite q few people who have flown 3 to 4 days after surgery and none had problems. I just want to be done and back home to recover. Only 28 days to go!

    Hey there,

I am also 5'7" and about 228 or so, I had lost 9 lbs, but then gained about 3 back. I am working out, but the holiday treats are getting me. Good luck with your surgery. I was wondering how that works with flying after the surgery, I decided to do January and not December because we are flying around Christmas. I also want to be in my own home afterward and not family, so that was another reason why I decided to wait. How long after the surgery will you fly home?

  3. May I join in? I turned 48 in Nov and am hoping that this will be an excellent year! I am married to the love of my life. He has sure honored the "thick" part of our wedding vows! We have 5 adult children 3 boys and 2 girls, ages 24-19. 3 still in college and 1 in medical school. I am truely blessed with a job I usually love, a family I always love and lots of supportive friends.

I have surgery on Jan 6th and will begin my journey to "thin" at that time. I have faith that the good Lord will be with me on every step of my journey and with my faith and family I can achieve my goals. Thanks to everyone on this board for your support, advise and prayers

  4. This list is growing that is great! I hope we are all able to provide support to each other as we prepare for surgery and after! 2011 is going to be a great year for all of us! It's December already.... what comes next...January! I have surgery in 35 days - Jan 6th is my date! I will be leaving for Mexico in 34 days, cannot wait to get out of this cold Minnesota weather for a while - even if it's to have surgery. I am currently at 230lbs - lost almost 9 lbs in November by low carbing and eating more Protein. I am not a big Water drinker and have been trying to get in 50-60 oz a day. I know I will need to get at least that after surgery.

SO 230 lb wonder where I will be at this time next year? I would like to lose 70 more pounds.... I think I can do it. I am 5'7"

  5. OMG You had to take it out yourself??!! I am having surgery in Mexico... I am not completely afraid to ask who your surgeon was... but do tell....If it is my surgeon I want to be prepared!

I had my surgery in Mexico and had a drain and had to take it out myself when I got home. I was SOOOOO scared. I begged my Dr. to PLEASE take it out because I was so afraid of having to do it myself, but he wanted it to be in for while I traveled home. After flying all day with it I was so ready for that thing to be out of me. As soon as I got home from the airport I took a shower, snipped the stitch and whipped that baby out. It was a weird "snake swimming in your belly" feeling but it didn't hurt at all. I think it helped that I took a shower before taking it out because the skin around it was soft and hadn't begain healing around the tube.

Try not to worry about this part of the surgery. I know that's a lot easier said than done. Honestly, and this might be a little too much information for everyone, but the worse part of my entire VSG experience (so far) was the yeast infection I developed after being on the antibiotics from surgery for so long.

  6. Kimmy - from one Kim to another - I will keep you in my prayers. Please do take some advil PM you need your rest - Friday will be here before you know it. It sounds like you have had quite the journey to get to this place.

I cannot imagine the pain of losing a spouse - it sounds like he was encouraging you to have this surgery and to live a health life. God will keep you safe and all of us are here for support if you need it. It sounds like you are surrounded by love and support. Have faith, God will place his healing hands on you and guide you through this surgery. Blessings and prayer going your way!
