  1. I am tall - 5'8" my future daughter in law in the now picture is pretty short... 5'3" so I look extra tall there! But you are not the first to say that recently a couple of people have said I look taller!
  2. I just posted a few progress pictures... and new hair cut!

  3. Life is what you make of it. Always has been, always will be.

  4. Hard work can make dreams become reality!

  5. Background... I was sleeved on January 6, 2011 by Dr Kelly in TJ, MX. I am about 5.5 months out and have lost 68.4 pounds and have about 16.5 to go till goal. I am still trying to figure my tiny tummy out! How is it that when I eat more, I lose more? Recently my scale moves the most when I eat the most. On days that I really stick to plan eat 100 grams of protein; and get all of my Water in - I lose about 4 ounces. THEN on days like yesterday - I eat more than normal, snack more than normal and have a couple of cocktails rather than water - I lose a pound overnight..... The scale is a funny thing! Some weeks I lose less than a pound some weeks I lose 3-4. I cannot figure it out. What I do know is that the combination of working out 3-4 times a week (3 of those with a personal trainer for strength training followed by cardio), eating about 90-100 grams of Protein a day and drinking 64-80 oz of water daily and keeping calories to about 850-1000 a day has gotten me to where I am today. I am not the fastest loser - and that is ok. I am here and I am happy! - I have gone from a size 16 to a 10 (and some 8's!) - 239.8 to 171.4 - thats 68.4 pounds gone forever! - My feet have shrunk - I have half the hair I used to and now am sporting short hair (temporary I hope!) - Shirts are now a medium - was in XL and some XXL - I love that I can walk into any "normal" size store and find clothing that fits. I Cannot get used to not shopping from the end of the rack where the largest sizes are - I can now start shopping in the middle of the rack. I constantly try things on that are to large - sure beats trying things on and having nothing fit! - Yep my tummy has a bit of lose skin. I have bat wing arms and may be shopping for a training bra soon! I am not sure if I will ever figure out my tiny tummy and as I read over my list of successes above not sure that I really need to! All I need to do is enjoy each day and be thankful for this gift that I received from God and Dr. Kelly. My goal is closer than ever and I truly believe that I will get there eventually! Enjoy your journey! Kim
  6. I have been pretty active on this forum and also OH. I have made many new sleeve friends while on this journey and I really value the experience of those who have gone before me and the thoughts and questions of those who are just starting this journey like me. One friend on OH has really inspired me to focus first about getting to goal and once there figure out how to stay there. Her exact words were: Just get your ass to goal and then figure out how to stay there. I like that that. I know it is a challenge - I am a pretty straight forward, task oriented person. I will step up to the challenge. YES there will be pain and gas after surgery...to me that is an expectation. If by chance I am lucky and have smooth sailing all the better. But I personally have decided to expect it - not whine about it to my hubby, family, friends. I am knowingly putting my self in this position and its for the long run. I don't want to lose site of my goal. So if my pain is a day, week or month I will look at it as part of the journey. That pain and uncomfort are going to lead me to a much better place. I do not want to lose focus, I will work through it. I have endured childbirth, a hysterectomy I am confident that I can do this. I know I will be nervous as I pack my bags and head out the door leaving my hubby at home. But I have to do this for me - I want to do this for me and I am going to do this for me.

  18. Sherri - I am sending you good thoughts and prayers! Please keep us posted. I just went through this with my Mom. We were lucky enough that they caught it early stage and she did not need to have radiation or chemo. She is currently doing some hormone therapy. I know you are scared - have faith! The power of prayer is amazing! We are here for us if you need us! Best wishes.... Kim

  22. I worked directly with Dr Kellys assistant Trish.. call her at (619) 955-6771 and (619) 395-5347. Tell her Kim referred you to her - so she knows how you got her phone number. Dr Kelly is amazing and changed my life!
  23. Good morning Jan 2011 sleevers! I wish I could say I was at goal here 6 months out... but still have 19 pounds to go! I have lost almost 66 pounds and I love my sleeve. Yes the rate of loss has slowed down but I am still losing inches. Actually squeezed my but into a pair of size 8 levis a few weeks back. STAY ON PLAN... get your Protein in! Focus is what we need. Oh and hair.. I miss my hair!
  24. Back from 10 days vacation - was scared to death to step on the scale which I had not been on since June 5th. Good news and bad news... 1st the bad... I did not stay on plan, I drank alcohol and ate carbs pretty freely. Good news - scale moved down a bit. Even tho I did not stick to plan I lost 2 ounces. Not much but I will take it. I was sure I would be up a couple of pounds! This tool is awesome! I love my sleeve! I know if I would have stuck to plan and got all my water...
