  1. Thanks so much Hopee! You're words are too sweet! thankyou.gif

    Hey SFD,

I had a VERY difficult time on that Optifast diet - 14 days of 4 shakes a day and ONLY sugar free clear fluids...I too cheated (almost everyday...A few crackers with cheese)...It was so hard...By day 8 I slowed down the cheating, I think mentally I was already past the halfway point and something clicked in me to just do it...The last half seemed to go a bit more quick.

Try to hang in there - I see so many different types of pre-op diets where some allow food and others don't - Either way my surgery went through just fine.

You'll do it...And if you need to cry - cry it out...OR like me just allow yourself a little nibble and move on with your day.

I was banded on November 19 and have already lost 10 pounds since that day. It is so worth it and know that you WILL be in that changeroom of your favourite store before you know it and those tears will be because of happiness not sadness...I too can't wait for that day.

Good luck during the rest of your pre-op diet...When you really feel a binge coming on just leave your house - go for a pedicure or to the bookstore (if you like to read or any store that you can pick up a hobby type of thing) just keep busy & try not to think of food...I did make a shake on ice and put it in a "to go" cup and went out for a pedicure and after felt SOOO good about myself and had pretty feet to boot.

    You'll do it,

    Hopee

  2. Hi There,

Can you tell me the name of the protein powder you bought? We don't have a Wally World where I live but maybe it's something that I can buy online? Congrats on getting rid of 17 pounds! That's awesome! biggrin.gif

i was on the pre-op diet for 14 days and, i must say, i didn't find it difficult. i would have boost, fat/sugar free yogurt, sugar free popsicles, creamed soups (mixed w/chicken broth instead of water) and i wouldn't strain them - it'd leave the mushroom and/or chicken pieces and puree them w/an immersion blender. if you don't have one of those, you should get one - it'll make your liquids and pureed steps much easier.

i found a protein powder this weekend at wally world - it is chocolate peanut butter and two scoops has 52gs of protein!! it's made by body fortress and costs about $16. if u're this tired, u're probably lacking in protein. have u started taking vitamins? i started way before my pre-op diet - 2 complete flintstones and 1 calcium citrate w/vitamin d.

this is what works for me and is by no way perfect. we're all different and can only offer suggestions.

good luck to you - oh and 11 lbs is awesome!! i was thrilled to find out i had lost 17 that i wouldn't have to c again!!!

  3. Thank you so much for your kind words. I wish you the very best in your new journey as well! biggrin.gif

    Hi there,

I am not yet on my pre op diet but I so relate to your feelings...as I'm sure lots of people do. I have spent years listening to thin people tell me how they need to lose weight and feeling like I can't really say anything for I am the 'elephant' in the room. Nobody says how do you feel about your weight for fear of humiliating me or hurting my feelings. Thus I say things about myself, putting myself down, so they know I'm aware of my size. I am so eager to begin this journey...have a little fear of what lies ahead but know that this is the right choice for me. Know that you are not alone and that good things are coming. As the saying goes...this too shall pass. Best of luck to you on your new journey...you're almost there!!

  4. I'm only pre-op but I have researched how much work this is going to be for me. I think you should take minute to realize how great you are and how awesome you are for taking this step to change your life. I wish you the very best and I know you will be successful in your journey. Don't let anyone bring you down - ever. :)
