I was at the gym last night, 40 minutes on the elliptical and it stated I burned around 500 calories, so after that gym how long after do you burn more calories than you usually would?

Oh jeez hibachi I know what you mean! I just pushed the food to the side and took the leftovers home and they were soooo much better the next day!

Date...help With Dinner Decision??
shues138 replied to Papillon Princess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to get some sort of appetizer, and if he asked I would just say "oh I had a big lunch" after that most guys don't say anything. I've been with my boyfriend for over a year he has no clue I had the procedure done, even brought me to an endoscopy for a possible band erosion and still no clue...he's clueless in general. LOL. -
Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one who eats salads without lettuce! I get the strangest looks, but my excuse is "lettuce is just a filler" lol

I'll be honest I'm a lazy cooker. If you came to my house you would see binders of recipes but I'm just not interested in food anymore, so I make what's easy. Green bean casserole is easy to make, so is baked shrimp so I do it. Last night I made those party meatballs with the chili sauce and cranberry sauce and kind of scooped out the meatballs without the sauce and had that last night for dinner. Thanks for letting me know I can freeze shrimp! Caribear thanks for the recipe, as of late I hated tomatoes, but recently I've learned to like them if I scoop all the "meat" out on the inside lol. Also I think this weekend I'm going to go to Big Y and get stuff to make portobello mushroom pizzas.

This morning after I got out of the shower, I wrapped the towel around me, usually it comes undone the minute I move, oh, anywhere, but it stayed around me until I had to get ready, I guess this is some sort of a nsv (if it is than yay!!!) Which got me thinking about goals. Also it got me thinking about how oblivious men are. Before Christmas, my co-worker was telling me about these rings that she gave her son's girlfriend for Christmas, they're called stackable expressions (google it!) so I tell my boyfriend about them (and not for nothing they are not that expensive!) for a Christmas idea and sure enough, guess what I don't get?? But he did give me a nice necklace. Okay back to goals, so I've decided that with every ten pounds I lose I'm going to get one ring. Of course I'm not going to buy them every time I lose ten pounds, but for example, when I lose 50 I'll go to the jewelers and pick out five, cannot wait! If I look at another shrimp again I'm going to be sick. I'm all shrimped out and that is one of my favorite foods, oh well they always have it at the grocery store. Next week I'm getting a fill and the mds requirements are two days of liquids two days of mushies and then solids by Friday, I totally forgot about this, so I guess I'm going to have to freeze the meatballs I made last night and also the corned beef and cabbage I'm making this weekend, but hey it's always good to have meals on hand! Last night I went to the gym for 45 minutes on the elliptical. I like love to listen to music while working out, I have the iheartradio app on my phone, and I put it on to the spin cycle station, which is great club music and NO COMMERCIALS it keeps me motivated enough that I don't even realize that my time is almost up. By the time I got home I was too tired to pack a breakfast and lunch for work tomorrow, so I had to resort to the cafeteria here, which is okay. I had a veggie egg white omlette with a little cheese it definetly filled me up. I've realized I cannot be so obsessed about how many calories/protein I consume a day. If I eat something and I'm full, then I'm full. I'm going to try that for the next couple of weeks and see how that goes. Can't give up on my chobani though! Have a good day!
-
Thanks for your comments first of all!!! I think right now since I only have 1.75 ccs in my band its definetly below what I had before which was 2.00 ccs. Trust me, during the weekend, I pretty much eat everything I want but I can hear the trigger to stop eating (like a yawn) I just like to eat portable things during the week so I can bring them to work or wherever I'm going. After I wrote this blog, my hunger went away and you know what it was? I think I was thirsty more than anything, so I got a big cup of water and that helped. I had my lunch but didn't finish it because I wasn't really interested in it anymore (so tired of green bean casserole!). Seriously, if I could eat chobani yogurt for all of my meals for the rest of my life I would! Also with all the shrimp eating, I made a huge batch the other night I just want to go through with it so it doesn't go bad....can you freeze already cooked shrimp??? This weekend I'm making corned beef and cabbage for my boyfriend, I've never made it before say a prayer or send a good thought my way because I don't know how that'll turn out. I'm probably going to divide up the leftovers for lunch and dinner for next week, just to change up the food routine. On Monday I go back for another fill so we'll see how it goes. Thanks again

5 Years Worth Of A Primary Care Physician Letter???????
shues138 replied to change's topic in Insurance & Financing
Every insurance company has different "loopholes" you have to jump through. With my old insurance they told me I had to be on a 6 month supervised diet, my dr's office did the precert and was told bariatric surgery wasn't covered at all! SMDH, so I had to pay out of pocket. Anyway, in regards to the 5 years of weight history, do you go to an ob/gyn once a year? I know when I go for my annual I'm weighed and she has it on file. If anything, I would contact the insurance company and see what they tell you. Good luck! -
What a great success story, keep up the good work. You are such an inspiration (especially to me!)

Good luck you will do amazing!!!!

That's what it's called a foodsaver! LOL. I agree with sauces and chili as well, I have a hard time "cutting" those recipes down, so I'll just make a big batch of chili for example and foodsave 1 cup portions.

I Can't Drink While Eating. Is That Normal??
shues138 replied to simoneshirbet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Before I was banded my biggest fear was not drinking with a meal, now I'm so used to it it's not even funny. I usually don't drink one hour before and one hour after, but once and a while I will drink right up to a meal (for example, after the gym yesterday I ate, and was chugging Water all the time). I also notice now that the more I drink between meals the less I want to drink during meals, I guess because I'm not dehydrated. Just my two cents -
I live alone as well, so if my freezer is full (usually all the time) I take any recipe and divide it by half (usually most recipes serve 4-6). Hope that helps! I also recommend getting one of those machines that suck all of the air out of the bag before putting it in the freezer this helps me save a lot of freezer space for some reason, it's around 100 bucks but well worth the investment!

Awesome Visual Que For Motivation!
shues138 replied to TexasDianne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love this idea! And it's an easy craft too I'm so not a crafty person! What a great idea thank you! Great motivation! -
Hey everyone, was looking for a lap-band buddy. I was banded January 2007, lost weight, gained, and now I'm back on the "bandwagon", just looking for someone for support and accountability especially with excercise (I'm usually motivated, but I fell this week in the snow and in a lot of pain, I'm afraid that I'll lose my motivation) Thanks for reading!

Fell Off The Bandwagon, Scared To See Surgeon Next Week!! Please Help!
shues138 replied to MCCLB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great job! I went back to my md on Monday and they were sooo supportive!!! I have to go back for a follow up appt on January 30th as well to see if they need to put more into my band. Got to love Charles River, one of my favorite things about Boston! -
I love my crock pot, I'm at work, so these are a couple of recipes off the top of my head but I've made them before and they are amazing. The crock pot is great for lap banders because it will tenderize any cut of meat to make it more lap-band friendly! Bachelor Roast: 1 cut of any type of meat (if using chicken use 4 breasts) 1 can cola 1 bottle ketchup put meat in bottom of crock pot pour coke and ketchup on top cover crock pot and cook for 8 hours on low pepporcini roast any type of roast 1 jar of pepperocini place roast in crock pot pour pepperocinis on top with juice, cover and cook for 8 hours on low when I make both of these I'll take out the meat, shred them with forks and serve them that way!

Looking For Crockpot Soup Recipes!! Please Help
shues138 replied to pzeadow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I make this all the time, making a double batch for superbowl. You can take some baked tortilla chips crush them up put them on the bottom of the bowl and then put the soup on top if you want to. Also this freezes really well! Beefy Tortilla Soup Recipe 1 to 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef or turkey 1 14-15 ounce can diced tomatoes (do not drain) 1 four ounce can diced/chopped green chile peppers 2 15 ounce cans kidney Beans (if you double recipe, I just add one more can) (I drain off the liquid at the top of the can, but I don't drain and rinse them) 1 cup Water 1 package Taco seasoning mix 1 package Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix 1 cup frozen corn (or, if you prefer, one can corn, drained) Brown beef and remove excess fat. In soup pot or crock pot, add browned ground beef and all remaining soup ingredients. If cooking on stove, simmer for 45 minutes to one hour. If you cook it in the crock pot, you can cook this all day on Low, or half a day on High. -
Hey everyone! My name is Andrea, I live in Connecticut and had the lap-band in January 2007. I was doing great up until 6 months after surgery (I know, I'm an idiot) and everything went downhill. I know I have a ton of excuses but that's what they are-excuses. Anyway, after a gall bladder removal in September of 2011 my surgeon (who is in the same group that did my lap-band surgery) wanted me back in her office January of this year to start up on fills again and wants me there every month (thank god for good health insurance $30 a visit is nothing to complain about!) Anyway I went in on Monday for the fill and when she pulled out what was in the band already was a brownish-orangish color much like the color that was in the drain that they put in me after my gall bladder removal (that in itself is a whole different story, a gall bladder is suppossed to be small and flacid, when they took mine out it was the size of a fist. The whole time I was having GB attacks I thought it was heartburn!!!!). So she took the Fluid out and set me up for an endoscopy on Thursday (she thought the band may have eroded) So yesterday I go in for my endoscopy and everything is okay, she figured that there was so much bile from my gall bladder that went into my body during the removal that some of it seeped into the band and caused the dis coloration, I got home and scheduled a fill for Monday the 16th. I am going to get back on track. Right now I'm 303 lbs, already down 11 lbs from December just by watching what I eat and excercising. Hopefully with these fills, I'm going to lose more, just need some support, and that's what I'm here for! Thanks for reading
-
Thanks so much for the support I feel like Monday will be a new start for me. I have to say my new found love of the gym will help. I used to HATE going to the gym before, now I love it. I think it's because I have Pandora radio on my phone so the music varies and I don't get bored. I'm not one of those people who can watch tv or read while working out I would probably fall off the elliptical machine!!! LOL.

Fell Off The Bandwagon, Scared To See Surgeon Next Week!! Please Help!
shues138 replied to MCCLB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I fell off the bandwagon as well! I had my surgery FIVE YEARS AGO!!! If it wasn't for having to go back for them to take out my gall bladder idk if I'd go back because sometimes it is discouraging....but I'm going back Monday for a fill, eating healthy again and I'm already going to the gym (I used to hate it, but now I love it!) Good luck to you!
