What kind of signs do I look for if I consider that there might be a slippage. I just hear a lot of different stories like there is a lady who had a flu and her band clipped because she was coughing... I have a flu... I am couching... I do not want to go into an emergency surgery... What are some signs?

I was very hungry at my 1 week checkup post surgery so my doctor put me on Phentermine. I lost 28lbs in 4 weeks. It is awesome. He will stop me after a fill but I am so worried that I gain weight back or just plateau. Also, would they give me a fill even though I lost so much before my 1st one? Did you have any experience in dealing with Phentermine? It always worked for me before but then after I stop it I would gain all the weight back. I am just worried. Any input?

my first fill is 2cc in a 10cc band... I am looking forward to the next one because I am very very hungry.

for example - I have a great great friend who is a girl. She is obese like me and we love hanging out together because we understand each others struggles. Now that I am going to loose weight she mentioned that she is very jealous and that she wishes her insurance approved her too. I told he that we will go to a seminar together to see if that was a good option for her. So, now that she mentioned that she is jealous I am not talking about the surgery or the weight loss a lot not to irritate or push her away. I want to keep our friendship but I am afraid that my surgery will pull us apart. I am having my surgery in two days and I am so excited - I am telling everyone again and again how happy I am to have it but I cannot bring myself to share my excitement with her not to make her upset. Help. Trying to keep my friend - has anyone gone through this?

I am thinking about getting paragard IUT - the one with no hormones and copper. Does anyone have it? Did you gain weight or have bad side effects?

Ok, here is the deal with my doctor... I have spoken to my nutritionist and she asked me what my goal weight was. However, my surgeon never asked me what my goal weight was - he looked at the chart ( height to weight ratio ) and told me what my weight loss goal will be. I was very happy because I was hoping to loose 70lbs when he told me to loose 110. I am very happy with my surgeon.

Banding plus hernia repair

I was also told that I had a hernia repair after the surgery. It was hurting for a little bit, but it might have been the band itself. I am very very happy that he discovered it. He showed me the picture before and after he repaired it - I was shocked - it was big. So, definetely do it, -

Great thread. I was banded October 6th, 2010 and already lost 32lbs -
it did get better. I am 5 weeks post op now and lost 32lbs... Awesome... I am so happy I had this surgery.

Hey there fellow bandsters... I do agree with you - my after surgery week was horrible even though they put me prescription painkillers ( the strongest they had ) I am feeling better now though. It get better with time so don't worry.
