  1. I have a question from anyone who had a port for the surgery? Did it leave a *dip* in your stomach? My sister just had this done, and she has this *dip*..its getting better, she is almost 4 wks post op now.....also, I know all drs have different post op diets, but, she has to be on Clear liquids for at least 4 wks, and then she is to call at 4 wks and they will tell her if she can go to stage 2 foods...like the puddings and such... went to a different dr and my post op diet was 1 wk clear liquids, 1wk solid liquid, then puree'd and so on...iit seems to me to be a bit drastic to have to do 4 possibly 6wks of clear liquids, especially when things are going GREAT for her....or are they going to wait till that *dip* goes away before she is able to progress?? she was told that they had to put a stictch in a muscle or somthing to that effect and that is what caused the dip? Im just curious if anyone else ever had anything like that too? Thanks
  2. Thanks for clarifying for me...It was a *drain* and it did come out before she left the hospital, its just that *dip* that looks weird...and Im wondering if they wont let her move onto anything other than clear liquids until that *dip* is gone??? 4-6wks on clear liquids seems crazy to me....but I understand all doctors are different and have their own ways of doing things.... She is doing GREAT, and Im so proud of her, you can already tell a huge difference in her
  3. Ok, in two days Ill be four months post op and get this.....Since my surgery I have had my cycle 4 times...I mean like clock work!!!! I *might* if I was lucky, have one a year if that before hand, now every flipping month!!! I went through all sorts of things to get my twins and now here I am cycling like a normal person. Question , does/will this continue or am I just being fooled??? I just cant see me getting on BC because you tend to gain weight and thats NOT what I want to happen....Im just really at a loss right now as to what to do. Im just so used to not worrying about anything and now....well, ya know....time to start paying attention.... And BTW....Im down 80#s totaly, 60 since Dec 14th, 2010!!! In size 14 pants!!!!! Woooo Hoooo....Go me, Go me, Go me
  4. Thanks Dana....Let me tell you, talk about a shock when I was two weeks post op and she showed her face....then, same thing the next month!! LOL Its crazy.....I mean, I guess its a good thing, but not really expected ya know LOL Keep up the Great job yourself...Dont ya just love it
  5. In 2 days Ill be 4 months out (wow, it seems like its been longer ) Anyway, I still sip because if I dont, I get in trouble. I dont throw up, but I get a queezie stomach for a few seconds....But as far as a straw goes....I LOVE drinking through straws....Thats really the best way to keep me from drinking too fast, it really helps me. Now, the dr has not told me I cant use it, I'm not real sure on the reasoning as to why you cant, or if you really arent supposed to, I dont know, but I do it ALLLL the time! Best of luck to you...You're going to love your sleeve!
  6. Ok, Im 3 months out, and at least once a week maybe twice I take a stool softener to keep things moving....and there are times when my left, lower side hurts, and going to the bathroom makes it go away. Well, this morning, my right, lower side has sstarted hurting and cramping enough to take my breath away at times can this also be related to having to go to the bathroom? Im not running a fever, it is just, I started to say uncomfortable, but no, it hurts
  7. Why do things like this have to happen on weekends, or when it is most inconvenient??? It is on my right side, it hasnt gone away completely, but it is a bit better. Its just soo aggravating!
  8. Yes, I still have my gall bladder....and Im waiting for the stool softener to kick in to see if it will help. to be perfectly honest, it is already a bit easier then it was earlier....but still uncomfortable...this is just crazy!!!!!
  9. Its really funny you should mention this! I have PCOS and have had terrible trouble conceiving. I had my first when I was much younger, but it was right after I got off the pill....then took me many years of trying again....after many drs and thinking if one more doctor told me I was fat and stressed I would strangle them!!!!! I finally got pg after seeing a fertility dr.... My periods are very very irregular!!! I might have one or two a year.......Fast forward last year. I had my surgery on Dec 14th....w/n two weeks my cycle started, this was after loosing almost 25#s....then the first part of Feb...guess what...there it is again!!! Talk about shocker!!!! Now Im waiting to see what March is going to bring!!! Im now 60#s lower.....I just have to be careful because I would be afraid to get pg so soon after surgery ya know! Its just crazy how our bodies react....
  10. Don't drink Water too fast!!!! No matter how thirsty you are, or how good it tastes!!!!! I know this, I know this, I know this, but I still drink it too fast sometimes..arrgggg....and I pay for it when it goes down and really makes me queezie for a few...... And what is the deal with NOT drinking from a straw??? I love drinking from a straw and sometimes it is soo much easier...just cuious
  11. Thanks everyone It is just soo much easier for me to drink with a straw....so as long as its not bothering me, I suppose I keep doing it A GREAT BIG CONGRATS to all of us "LOOSERS"
  12. Oh I cant wait for that! LOL....tomorrow will be 8 wks post op....hard to believe its been 8 wks already! time flies when you're having fun !!! LOL
  13. I had a case of vertigo about a year before my surgery, but wow, it seems to have come back with a vengence.....Its about to drive me crazy...anyone else have this Or what can I do to make it go away

    Vertigo anyone???

Thanks everyone...I have to say I think it was mainly because I was dehydrated....although I never got it checked out, but now Im feeling much much better, able to drink fluids better and like Im supposed to and now I dont have the episodes like I was having...It was bad for a few days....I know bad of me for not getting it checked...Im just thankful that it worked itself out. I keep a bottle of Water with me at all times now! Oh, and Im 7wks post op and down 30#s since surgery, 49#'s over all....so not too shabby!

    REGRET

I am 6 wks out from having surgery, and to be completely honest, there are days or times that I regret having it done...with that being said....those are only days or a time that I regret it...over all, would I do it again??? You bet!!!! Only sooner...because the good outweighes the bad by far. This may be a silly comparison, but its the only one I can really think of. Its like wanting a child.....You really want on, you try for it, then all of a sudden you are pg.....you have to deal with morning sickness, sore back, swollen feet and then there is the labor (hurt like crap) Then there is the raising of the child...all the nasty diapers, getting up at all hours, just all in all taking care of it...but...the joys you get from that child soooo outnumber all the negatives that you dont really even think about the negatives because you are soo happy you have this little baby Thats how I feel about this surgery.....Its alot of work, but it is soooo worth it!!!!

    December 2010 Sleevers!

Hi there. I was sleeved on Dec 14th...Im down 29#s since surgery, 48#'s over all...which in all reality is totally AWESOME!!! Overall,Im doing very well, just still trying to learn the right ways to eat and struggling to find liquids I like to drink. Its crazy how anything sweet makes me sick to my stomach now, even with artificial sweetener...weird....but Im trying. Its all a learning process, and Im still learning, but I love the results! I have gone from a size 24 pair of jeans, to a size 18 now!!!!! and my hubby is calling me skinny (of course far from it, but I love him telling me )
  17. Im just curious if anyone else has used them and what their opinion is of them? Thanks
  18. Let me preface by saying a big fat "EEEWWWW" Milk of Magnesia taste aweful!!!! Is there any secret ways to make it better....wait, I think I know...please tell me they make something in a pill/capsul form?? Also, of the nasty liquid stuff, not sure if you should take the whole dose or not since our tummys are alot smaller?? I just hope it works, Im not all about getting completely blocked up...yearrrggggg
  19. When, if ever, can you have a bowl of cereal? I mean like Cherios, Special K, something like that?
  20. Im 4wks 3ys out and dont have another appt with my dr till the end of January and then Ill be seeing the PA. Im just wondering when or if they do labs?
  21. I know it is a normal thing to hit a stall, but geeeze.....come on.....Please let me start loosing again!!! For the last 12 days I have only lost 3 pounds I started off like a rocket, then BAM....nadda. I am eating my Protein (or drinking) and drinking my Water, I just dont know what else to do to get the scales moving again. How long does the 3 week stall last? And when the scales do start moving again, are they much slower than in the beginning? How many pounds should you loose a month? Thanks for listening to me grumble about something that Im sure everyone has grumbled about from time to time!
  22. LOL...You know what will happen tomorrow right?!? We will all loose a few pounds!! I hope so anyhoo... socalkelly...I haven't taken any measurements....I do know that my clothes are getting very loose on me and Im loving it! I bought a dress about 2 years ago, it was a cheap sun dress that was my size, but....it was not stretchy material, and it stuck to me like glue (blechhhh) I really liked the dress and thought, one day I will most definately be able to wear that dress. About two nights ago, I thought hey, why not try and see if that dress fits you now that you have lost some weight. Well, it was good news/bad news....LOL......I could put the dress on, but now it is wayyyyy too big! LOLOLOL It just hung on me. How awesome was that!!!!!! Anyway, back to the issue at hand...I suppose I need to spend more time on the treadmill!!!!! And once this weather clears, time to head to the gym!
  23. Im just beginning the process. I have my first appt with the doctor tomorrow morning, and yes I am excited and nervous. I just cant decide if I want to do the lap band or sleeve? To be perfectly honest, everyone I know personally, that I have talked to, all love their results and have nothing negative to say....but...in all reality, what are some of the negative things? Anyone regret having it done? Thanks Patty
  24. Hello, I am new to all of this so please bare with me. I have called and talked to a surgeons office in Atlanta GA...They have checked my insurance and it will cover the lap band....but I was told that the doctor had a $2,000 after care program that had to be paid for up front and is not covered by insurance. Is this the norm? Thanks
  25. Thank you very much. I didnt think it was quite right...anyhooo...ive already started making my dr's appts...and am attending a seminar tomorrow....so at least the ball is rolling! nervous and scared and excited all at the same time...very weird! LOL
