  1. Hello All, Banded on Sept 10 2010, to date I have lost 35 pounds, noticing some hair loss. Does anyone have this and know what I can do? Thanks, KRP
  2. Hello fellow September 2010 bandsters, just wondering eveyone's progress and thoughts on thier band thus far? I have lost 35 pounds, finally hit the sweet spot in December. Just wondering about what others think that were banded same time as me. Thanks!! KRP
  3. I was banded in Sept 2010, I have lost about 35 pounds total and can eat pretty much whatever I want just alot less. I read on here that people watch what they eat and diet, I am losing weight just monitoring my portions. Anyone else eat what they want too??
  4. I was banded on Sept 10 and have lost a total of 20 pounds, however I do not feel it is due to the band. I have been filled 3 times and the funniest things happen. Some days I feel restriction and other days NONE!! Can someone please tell me how to know if you need a fill or not?? I chalked the pbing up to not eating slowly and properly. I was able to eat a whole steak sub with no issue, I feel my portions should be alot less. Just wondering if anyone has this issue and if you are at your "sweet spot" how do you know that?? KP

    Does ANYONE experience this???

No, not normally do I drink while I eat, sometimes I forget and take a small sip. It's all a learning process. Went today for my 4th fill at my office, I can go every week if I want too, and since I am a self pay it is included for two years. So, the nurse said that the "sweet spot" is anywhere between 3 and 6 fills. I guess I will see how this coming week goes. Thanks guys!

    Does ANYONE experience this???

Thanks for the reply, however I think the whole purpose of the band and the 14,000 that I spend was to control my portions for me. Otherwise, I could just do another diet plan. I realize that it isnt a cure all, but there is a device stitched onto my stoma that is supposed to do that for me.

    Numbing medication with fills

I have had 3 fills and no numbing, really do not feel much when they do it. Not sure why anyone would want to get a "numbing shot" to get a shot. Defeats the purpose of not feeling a shot??
  8. Just wondering if ANYONE banded can eat a cheeseburger? I am two months banded and really miss those. I mean a real one with a bun. KP

    vomiting

I vomit twice a week and this is my 2nd fill, sometimes I can eat and other times I cannot. I hope that I am not causing damage to my band, but when i have to make myself vomit, it means it is stuck for good. I feel like a bulemic when i do this, it is weird.

    1st fill have questions

Not being able to keep liquids down is not good or the norm, I think you need to call your doc. Kp
  11. Wow, I went for my 2nd fill and I have 5.5 cc and some days I feel restricted and other days I don't?? Tonight I could eat most all of my meal plus an appetizer and salad??? I am really confused to say the least.
  12. Ok, Had my 2nd fill, I am so hungry but find that I am having trouble eating things, throwing up stuff is not fun. Anyone else find that they can only eat "bad" foods like crackers and cheese or things that slide. I so miss my chicken and veggies. KP

    1st fill have questions

After my 1st fill, I could not eat for a couple of days without pain and pb. I stay completely away from deli, it clogs me everytime. I am going in on Friday for my 2nd fill, because I am hungry, I believe that there are just things that I am not able to eat and it has not much to do with the fill. I am able to eat more now and feel like I can eat cake and chips and the stuff that is bad, but I cannot get the good foods down. It is very frustrating. I hope it gets better.

    hiccups

I get them all of the time, almost every time I eat. I have only had one fill so I am not full, because I am able to eat again after they stop. Usually the first few bites are followed with hiccups unless it is liquid. I am finding it hard because I cannot eat meats and veggies.
  15. any suggestions for eating out on mushy foods??
  16. I am one week post op and started the mushy stage - I tried to get cottage cheese down and it would not go. I have been testing things, so I tried some bites of pizza and they went down no problem. I know I shouldnt even try, but I am just curious as to why some foods go down that shouldnt?? Anyone else have this issue? I eat cream of wheat, protein shakes and jello fine, then today I tried a brownie bite and it went straight no issue and so when I took a bite of pizza, I thought this will never go, but it did!!! Puzzles me. Any of you out there can relate? I am not going to push it anymore because I am afraid. I also had a huge hernia repair that the doctor said was one of the biggest he had seen. I have 70 pounds to lose.
  17. ok, had my surgery on the 10th of Sept and it is now Sept. 15th and my tongue is still numb, anyone have this problem? KRP
  18. Hello all, Had my surgery yesterday and went well, except it took them 45 minutes to get the breathing tube in and they also found huge hernia that the doc had to stitch up. Yesterday and today I feel pain, but worse today. My neck, shoulders, legs everything hurts. Also, my tongue is still numb from yesterday, is this normal? The percocet makes me itch so I am not sure if that is normal either. Any advice? Krp:frown:

    1st day with the band

I was banded two days ago and I had no idea that the whole body would hurt. I just thought the stomach and shoulders. I feel awful. I still nurse my baby and that is not fun either. It's hard with 4 kids and I cannot move a muscle. Does anyone know whay the WHOLE body has to hurt. I feel like I have been working out for hours. Even my calves hurt. The percocet makes me itch crazy so I am just trying to do the ibuprophen 800mg. I wasnt sure if it could be swallowed, but I took two of them. Any advice out there? Krp:redface:
  21. I drink Iced coffee and Iced tea. I have a Keurig machine and there is all flavors of both. It's awesome!
  22. My surgery is this Friday the 10th, and I have been trying the liquid stuff for two days and feel awful today. Like I am getting the flu, is this common when you are not eating? Anyway, I have contemplated cancelling the surgery like 20 times already since I scheduled it a month ago. I annoy myself and confused with all of these emotions. Like, do I really want to put this in my body? I guess these fears are probably "normal" but I am a mess. Thanks for listening, KRP:eek:
