Hey Y'all, as some of you know my surgery was this past Wednesday, was home by 9:00 pm. Been doing fairly well considering. I'm worried about an area that's swollen though. Just below and a little to the right of my left breast. There is NO incision there but there is one about an inch below where the swelling is. I tried to call the surgery center # that they sent home with me but know answer. I've been laying with a cold pack on the entire surgery area. Kinda concerned, any thoughts? I've followed instructions to a tee other than maybe not getting as much protien as recommended.

Hi Amy and welcome to the most wonderful support group in the world. I'm a fellow horse person and was banded 2 days ago. It has been so embarassing as my weight continued to climb and I couldn't climb on my horse without someone holding the saddle in place on the opposite side. But those days will soon be over. Keep us all posted and good luck!

Hi All...be sure you follow you drs. instructions. It really is funny how each dr. is different. Mine has me on liquids a full 7 days, then to "full" liquids like carnation instant Breakfast, the protien shakes, yougurt and such. Hey by the way, mix a cup of peack yougurt into an EAS advant-edge French vanilla, really yummy...Good luck all

Thanks for the replies. Yvette, yes I did use Dr. Land. He is very soft spoken and on the quiet side. When the nurses had me almost prepped and ready he came in and was "all business". He did answer my questions. My surgery lasted almost 2 hours, and I was kinda surprised at that. But, if it took that for my wounds to look as good as they do...no problems. He used only glue to close me back up and although I bruise very easily, I have very little bruising. I've also had nearly no gas pains! He prescribed liquid Vicoden and that's worked well. I was up a lot yesterday and think I over did it a little bit. Slept through the entire night last night and just wore up about an hour ago, so I'm really sore this a.m. The folks at Memorial are angels in people clothing They were so sweet and kind to me and my family. Hope this helps and keep in touch either on here or you can email me at meadowviewstbl@aol.com

Hey Y'alll. One fifteen the morning after. Had to stay at hosp. till 8:00 ish due to the fact that I couldn't pee. Finally half way through the 3rd IV bag, success! Had a "wretch/gas" episode a couple of hours after arriving home. My sweet 19 year old daughter has been my wonderful nurse, even to the extent of my phenergan suppository...LOL. I told her she was paying me back for all those times I dr'd, cared for her. liquid Vicoden working well. Very little gas pain so far. Surgeon did great job with glue only, but my surgery lasted right at 2 hours.
Welcome Kirsten and Carol! willl be thinking about you today and say a little prayer for you also.
Discovered a clear liquid treat, SF Spiced Cider Appple flavor drink mix, by Alpine for Krusteaz. Just add 6-8 oz. hot Water.
Sweet dreams all.
Love Kathy :notagree :notagree :notagree

Oh well all you you ladies hang in there and thanks so much for the words of encouragement!

I had all my pre-testing done Friday afternoon the 8th and was running a low grade fever. I'm recovering from a bout with bronchitis and not completely over it evidently. My PCP put me on 2 different inhalers. Her comment when she came back in the room after checking my chest x-rays was..."Well, there's good news and bad news...the good news is, it's not pneumonia, the bad news is, if your not significantly better by Monday (the 11th), you need to contact your surgeon :phanvan. Anyway, that's where I am today, and kinda bummed out. However, I know it's definetly for the best as far as my health, don't want to take any chances!
:update:
UPDATE: Surgery Rescheduled for DEC 20! 11:00 a.m. Have found another lap band patient and 2 rny bypass patients at my Church!!!! Back on the liquids and down to 234!....Thanks for all y'alls kind words and encouragement!
By the way, on a scale of 1 to 10, how BAD is the pain after surgery?.. such a wimp here, I'm all for the miracles of medication....

I had all my pre-testing done Friday afternoon was all set for banding Wednesday the 13th, but was running a low grade fever. I'm recovering from a bout with bronchitis and not completely over it evidently. My PCP put me on 2 different inhalers. Her comment when she came back in the room after checking my chest x-rays was..."Well, there's good news and bad news...the good news is, it's not pneumonia, the bad news is, if your not significantly better by Monday, you need to contact your surgeon :phanvan. Anyway, that's where I am tonight, and kinda bummed out. However, I know it's definetly for the best as far as my health, don't want to take any chances! Thankfully they were able to get me re-scheduled on the 20th of Dec. So, this Wednesday, it's back to the "pre-op" diet and the countdown.
By the way, on a scale of 1 to 10, how BAD is the pain afterwards.. such a wimp here, I'm all for the miracles of medication.... Have a good week all.

Thanks all for your comments. Did my pre-surgery testing today, yum gotta learn to love that barium...lol. Does anybody go through this and NOT have second thoughts? I don't really have any one super close and supportive. When I was in my pcp's office today ( for annual routine exam) my doctor's radiologist hugged me and was so very encouraging. I didn't realize how much I needed that.
