gebbiabn reacted to wvugal in New foods tried after surgery...
I end up baking mine just a little longer... Do you remove the seeds before or after? recipes say before, I've done both. If you do it before, I also take a little more out of the middle after baking it so it's not "slimy". I also brush the underside of the squash with olive oil before baking. Once I remove a little more of the area where the seeds were, I let it cool for a bit, then shred with a fork. I shred small amounts and put them into a bowl as I shred it, so it's not just a big pile that molds together. I haven't had a real issue with mine being clumpy. Pic is of my "spaghetti" I made the other night... not a great pic, I just snapped it quickly for a friend on a low carb diet.

besides cauliflower and chicken pizza crusts, I have been making dishes with spaghetti squash. Takes the place of Pasta and I don't notice much of a difference!!

It's super easy. Just toss chickpeas, a bit of olive oil, a bit of lemon juice, some fresh garlic, a pinch of salt and pepper in your food processor or blender and blend until smooth.

Just wanted to to share a product I found. It's Protein Water called Protein2O!!! 16.9oz, 15g protein per bottle, 70 calories. It's amazeballs!!! My favorite it berry Splash, then Grape Splash, then the Lemon Splash. You can kinda taste the protein in the lemon, but it's not undrinkable. I found them at my local grocery store Kroger's, but you can also find them at Walmart and Vitamin World.

Quick update. It's been one week since my rny bypass. I *was* diabetic. My blood sugar is now completely normal, and I've been off medication since 2 days before my surgery. This was my primary goal. I'm overjoyed, to say the least! So is my primary doctor!

Hi everyone!! Surgery went better than expected!! The hardest part was not getting any sleep the night before surgery, & only 2 hrs. at the hospital. Very tired. My first sips of Water & Protein mix made me a little nauseous in the hospital, but other than that I did really well. Got home yesterday afternoon feeling really good but very tired. The hard part is drinking water & your protein mix. They gave me 5 -1oz cups to put my protein & water in. Drinking 2 of protein mix & 3 waters to be finished in 1 hour. Then I walk after I have those down around the house. Your time is spent sip sip sip you can't take the whole 1 oz at one time, thats what makes it so time consuming, you have to wait a couple of minutes to take the next sip. then walk take Vitamins pills etc. I don't know how anybody could work or take care of other's during this 2 week time. My incision's are very minimal with no pain. My stomach slight pain, but I put a heating pad (not too hot) on it & it helped. One thing I did that didn't feel so good, I took pain meds when I went to bed last night. You can have 1or 2, so I thought I need sleep terribly & I took 2, one at a time, I waited 5 min. to take the 2nd one. I felt like they both got stuck for good 2 hrs. but it finally went away. They had told me to wait 10min. before taking a second pill, I will know better nextime. Well I better get off here, I have to go sip sip! Take care everyone! I've added the new dates for you who wasn't on the list!! Praying that everyone's surgery turns out as good as mine has!!
@@edie091371 So sorry you have to stay in the hospital another night! Praying for a good out come & sending hugs!!!
We now have 87 people on our October list of Surgery's

My doctor said I could go home today, but I elected to stay another night. My self pay arrangement allows for up to three nights with no refunds if I stay less... So, I'm taking advantage! Feeling great, just bloated. They have taken me of nausea meds and demerol... Now on tramadol and Tylenol 3. I just had sugar free vanilla (p) doing and internal freaking good, lol, not like the store stuff, almost custard-like. It is the little things

gebbiabn got a reaction from Sajijoma in This waiting game... Ahhh!
I am frustrated because I totally want to be obsessive right now and continuously check the status of my authorization for revision. Butttt I have BCBSNC, and I can't seem to find anywhere online where you can do this. *cue violin* hahaha

I have BCBS also- one of the reps told me they do not have an online system to check status of approvals I told them other insurance companies do so they need to start working on it!

gebbiabn reacted to ImBringingLisaBack RNY in My file is in "Review" with Cigna!
The surgeon's office told me 10-15 business days or something crazy like that. But, I knew based on all of the comments here that it usually takes between 2-4 days. Cigna has an automated service that you can check the status of an approval so I did that...a lot. LOL I'm glad I did because that is how I found out I was "denied" based on missing info.
The waiting game is THE worst! ugh!

Sooo I got "the" call...Cigna called to say I was "DENIED" And here's the kicker...because the surgeon did not include the "codes for procedures" on his report AND they did not receive the psych evaluation.
Immediately called surgeon's office and the coordinator there, Sara, God bless her, she assured me she was on it. I was a nervous wreck and started...crying She assured me all was well and I should be in there on Monday to schedule me for...November 5Th!!!! woot woot!
I'm SOOO relieved! Now to start with the prepping!!!!

Hello! I have BCBSIL and got denied for band to RNY revision. They came back with that denial after about 5 business days. My surgeon scheduled a peer to peer meeting with them and after another 10 working days I was approved. You MUST have a surgeon who is ready to get on the phones and fight.
My surgery date is Monday 8/11! Best of luck to you - do not lose hope.

For the most part, mine too, but wow, some horror stories I have heard in support groups. I think there was even a post in this thread where the person's surgery was billed after it was over and they were told approval does not guarantee payment! Why on earth then did they even waste the person's time by making them submit if they were not going to pay?!?? Scary!

I called BCBS and they told me my claim was submitted on 11.30.12, and I could expect 3-4 business days. I got approved today, 12.5.12...so, really about 2-3 days.
