January Bandsters???

Congrats Audree, you're doing great. And you seem to be enjoying your life as well. Keep up the great work!
2. Lisa, It really wasn't painfull. I told them I don't do well with pain meds so I didn't take anything more exciting than Tylenol. I did have problems about a week later. I got dehydrated and had to go to the hospital to get fluids intravenously. I'm feeling really good now. I just got off liquids and am now eating pureed and soft foods. You wouldn't think scrambled eggs would be that good. Feel free to ask any questions that you think I could help you with.

Audree, How's your South Beach diet going? I may join you when I get the hang of pureed which I start tomorrow..
5. Hi Lisa, I was originally going to have Dr Oweiss as my doctor. I live here in Toledo so it would have been very convienent however, my insurance (blue cross, blue sheild) no longer used them as providers. I jumped through all their hoops (pysh exam) etc. Then when I got my insurance approval the nurse casually mentioned that I should check my insurance again! What a shock. I had to start all over. I was banded Jan 18th at the Barix Clinic in Ypsalanti Mich. If I can be of any help to you please let me know! Do you live in the Toledo area? good luck

January Bandsters???

Hello Bandsters, I haven’t been posting lately because I’ve been having a lot of problems with my band. I have been having a lot of problems with shoulder gas pains (I’m 12 days post op). I would feel really good one day and awful the next. I couldn’t even smell protein shakes without gagging. Well, on Friday I had a couple of episodes of vomiting after eating a cream soup. On Sunday I couldn’t keep water down. The pain around my band was intense. I called the Barix Clinics where my surgery was done. The doctor (Dr Kam) told me he wanted to see me right away. I was impressed as this was Sunday!! When I got to the clinic he was waiting for me! (I had about a 1 hour drive to get there) He had an xray tech also waiting for me, WOW. Pictures were taken, My Band was okay. He was concerned about slippage, swelling etc. Well my friends I was very dehydrated and had lots of excessive air in my colon. Also, had a backup of the bowels. My stomach was swollen because of the vomiting. Well, after fluids, a laxative and some anti-nausea medication I am feeling great!! I am now totally committed to my water. Also happy with a 21 pound weight loss. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thanks for listening, Susie

January Bandsters???

Hi Everyone, Hope you're all doing well. I had a few days of some rough weather but I'm doing better now. The first few days weren't fun. Trying to get in the protein and water can be quite a challenge. Does anyone know of a protein powder that doesn't have a lot of taste. I thought I was doing pretty well until I talked to my nutritionist and I'm not using enough protein powder. I have been using about a tablespoon of powder and I need to use a big scoop... any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Sue

January Bandsters???

Well tomorrow is my big band day as well. I had a cold at the beginning of January. They did a chest xray last week, everything was okay. However, I do still have a slight cough. I called today they said I'll be evaluated tomorrow by the anestesiologist. Say prayers everone that the surgery will be performed. I will be so bummed if they reschedule... Thanks for the prayers and your support!

January Bandsters???

I have told quite a few people I'm getting the band, I think I need all the support I can get. Most people are supportive. My sister who is also overweight says she doesn't want to go out to lunch with me any more. :think I asked her why it makes a difference. If I'm happy with smaller amounts of food what's the problem. My husband asked me yesterday if the band is reversible (he is very thin). My friends are supportive but nervous for me. I'm not nervous at all! I went to do my after surgery grocery shopping and can't wait to begin my new life.

January Bandsters???

Audree, you always have the most interesting posts. I went out and bought my walking shoes today. So I'm ready to go... Did you have a problem wearing pj's? Should I only take gowns? I have a weird question, what happens if you get the flu? I guess I'm worried I would dislodge the band. Can anyone help me on this?

January Bandsters???

Audree, So glad you're back and doing well. I was worried about you. You're one of the people I enjoy most on this site. Was the doctor worried about your cold? I was hoping that wouldn't impact your ability to have surgery. Well keep us informed about your progress.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Hi Ohio Bandsters, I also live in Ohio. I live in Toledo. I'm so happy to meet all of my Ohio friends. I will be having my surgery on January 18th in Ypsalanti, Michigan. I had some problems finding a surgeon in my area who was in my network. Having a get together sure sounds like fun, I can travel to wherever it is scheduled. There certainly is a nice mix of people in this forum, thank God for the veterans among us. I like talking to people who are already living the life. Good luck to all in their journey...

January Bandsters???

I too have been on quite a journey in the quest for my lap band. My insurance really hasn't been a problem though. First, the surgeon I went to not longer takes my insurance (they failed to mention this at the seminar or consultation), I checked in Sept. they dropped the insurance in Nov. after I was approved. Then my second surgeon needed a cardiac clearance because I'm an old lady (55) lol, and now I have been waiting like what seems to be forever to be called back with a date for surgery.Sorry to be so down, but I just want to join the January bandsters exclusive club...
