Hi Sunshine and fellow bandsters, I'm doing okay, still have no fluid in the band, letting the esophagus heal a little more. I'm actually afraid to go back to the band. That acid reflux was way wicked! Can't exercise right now as I have a broken toe inside my foot. I'm in a knee high boot for that, tripped over a throw rug, duh! Also have a small tibia fracture from tripping and falling in a driveway, also duh. I'm currently going to weight watchers and the pounds are coming off slowly but surely... Hope everyone else is doing well. Susie-q

Thanks Sunshine, My job changed insurances. They say the medical center is in network but the dr they keep arguing about. I'm resigning this week as my son and daughter in law will be having a new baby soon and I volunteered to be their full time babysitter. So my husbands insurance doesn't cover weight loss surgery. I didn't eat for 4-5 hours before bed. I was up all night vomiting. I slept in a recliner with no relieve. Dr. did fluro and said my esophagus was being damaged. Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone, I haven't checked in for a long time. I was having so much trouble with acid reflux I had to have all fluids taken out of the band. My esophagus was all inflamed and distended, I was miseable. Well, long story made short I have gained back almost all my weight. Can't walk too much because I fell down with my knee replacements and I have a small tibia fracture under the knee appliance.yeah! My insurance no longer covers fills or any weight loss surgery. Dr. gives me a discount but it's still 150.00. To tell you the truth I'm afraid to have fluids put back in, but I know I'll gain back every pound if I don't.. We were talking about the whole by pass surgery but without insurance coverage I think that is now out. Your opinions would be appreciated.. Thanks, susie-q

Sula, To jump in on a question of yours, I had all the liquid taken out because of acid reflux. He is putting it in at 1cc per month. I have very little restriction he put one in last month and I'm going for another fill in 10days. I tried the ww thing. I'll probably go back again. I can't always make it to the same meeting each week because of my work schedule (I work at a bank). So if I don't go I tend to back slide alot...lol. I need to find a meeting and lecturer I like. Hi all, Sula I'm so happy you had some saline taken out. As I mentioned before I had the exact same problem. I was severely sleep deprived. Everytime I fell asleep I was sick. I also had some pain after having all the fluid taken out. It went away fairly quickly though. I had 1cc put back in last month and I'm getting another cc in 2 weeks. So far So good! Although the restriction is pretty much non-existent. My friend had gastric sleeving done and I kinda wish I had waited and done the sleeve. She hasn't had any problems to date. It's been about nine months. Of course none of us had all these problems early on either right? Talk again soon, Susie

Hi Sula, Had the exact same problem you are having, no matter what I ate at night I would pay big time! Had a fluro and my esophagus was enlarged and inflamed. I had an almost complete unfill. Everything is good! I am having fluid put back in slowly for the next few months. Don't risk your health. An inflamed esophagus is not the way to go. Be careful, talk to your dr. and go from there... Hi everyone, Well, I saw the dr. last month. He did a swallow test and determined my esophagus was swollen and inflamed from the acid reflux and throwing up. Don't you think it's weird that after 2 years many of us are in the same acid reflux boat? I wonder if this is a common side effect. Does it take a couple of years for this to show up??? I had all the liquids taken out and they are going to be replaced tomorrow. I have mixed feelings about having the fluids put back in.. I was really miserable with the acid reflux. I hadn't slept a full night in months. Lots of choking and vomitting, yuck. Another weird thing is even with being sick I didn't lose any weight. I don't now what to do and suggestions? Hi folks, I actually read your posts regularly but haven't checked in because this band is making me pretty miserable. I just can't get the right restriction and it is so expensive to keep taking the Fluid in and letting me out. My insurance doesn't pay and it cost me 150.00 out of pocket. I had fluid put in it in Oct. took it out in November and I still have terrible acid reflux. The head of my bed is up 9". I sleep on numerous pillows. Most nights I am up numerous times coughing, choking and vomiting. I don't eat after 6 and go to bed at 12. Sometimes, I just give up and sleep in the recliner. I am at my wits end. I pb numerous times a day no matter what I eat or even drink sometimes. I am considering just giving it up for awhile. I'm afraid I'm ruining my esophagus. And the worse thing...I haven't lost weight in like forever. I have no idea how that is possible. Sometimes, I can only eat mashed potatoes, ice cream or Soup. Forget eating or drinking before 1pm! Sorry, this is so involved, I would like any imput you all might have. Like I said I'm at my wit's end!! Thanks, Susie

Sunshine, thanks for giving us a great new name. Congrats on all that exercise, I'm impressed! I haven't been on 'cause I feel like a failure right now. I got down to about 175 with my goal being 155. Wellllll, I have since gained about 18 lbs. I never know what this crazy band is going to do. I can sometimes eat anything and sometimes eat nothing. The other day I pb'd on eating 3 bites on lettuce and 3 spoonfuls of Soup. I don't know if I should have a fill or not. I'm like you sunshine, the dr. puts it in I have terrible acid reflux and he has to take it out again. I have just been eating what goes down well. Not good! Please all any advice would be appreciated.... I hate gaining after all I've been through. :smile2: Thanks, Susie-q

Congrats Sunshine!! I'm so happy for you :tt2:. I still have not found my happy spot... I'm either too lose or way too tight. We just don't seem to be able to get it right. I too have gained...yuck. But when I get a fill I have acid reflux you wouldn't believe. I seriously don't know what to do next. Like the rest of my band friends I'm having difficulty making good food choices...:confused2:. It is also a problem that my new insurance doesn't cover fills. I just feel awful putting the fluid in one week and taking most of it out the next. Any advice would be appreciated. My dr. says make good food choices...if I was good at that I wouldn't need my band.lol. Thanks all, Susie

Hi all, As I told you earlier I was having a horrible time with my restriction being way to tight. I had the flu and my stomach swelled blocking off the band. I had acid reflux like you wouldn't believe. I was only filled to 3.5. I had to have an unfil, he took out .5. I was so worried I would gain so decided to go to weight watchers to give me some good ideas about portions etc. also to give me a scale I needed to answer to...well, in the last 2 weeks I've lost 7 lbs. YEAH! Thought some of you might consider this because I know you are waiting to get your fills back like I am. I get my fill on April 10th and don't want to gain. Good Luck, Susie

Hi all, Five Jacks you mentioned diet coke, do you actually drink it now? I tried to have a sip of soda about 4 months ago and I thought my stomach was going to blow up! Serious discomfort... I would like to drink soda and use a straw again! I had to have .5ccs taken out of my band three weeks ago. I had a bad cause of acid reflux and vomiting numerous times a day. So we're letting my stomach and esophogus rest for awhile. I go to have some put back in April 10th. Congrats to all of you on some great weightlosses, wow, I'm impressed with all of you.

Hi all, I started losing alot of hair. My dr. suggested biotin. I also was tested for b-12 deficiencies which I now have so I take a shot each month. My hair loss has really slowed down with the combination of biotin and b-12.

Tonia, You're friend looks great! I looked at the materials online and I'm confused about the aerobic days. What do they mean by the different levels of intensity? I can't run any more because I've had knee replacements. I can walk forever but the Dr. said I shouldn't run with my new knees. Help please... Susie

Hi all, We had a Biggest Loser challenge at my health club the last 6 weeks. We all contributed $20. Today is the last day. Prizes are awarded for the most cardio minutes, weight loss and inches lost. I've lost 9.5 pounds and 13.25". Hopefully that will be enough to take home some money!! I work out alot with a buddy each day. She's a 20 something, fitness nut and she's keeping me on the straight and narrow...lol. She really helps me make exercise a priority. It's hard to stay in bed when I know she's there waiting for me... Maybe we should have some sort of exercise challenge for the New Year? Hope everyone has a good holiday season, ours will be bittersweet with the death of our daughter this year. Thanksgiving was tough but I'm spending alot of time with the grandkids and keeping busy. Hi everyone, I too have been discouraged lately. I had been filled to 3.0. Thought I should get a little tweak so went up to 3.3. I was suffering for 2 weeks, I had acid reflux like you wouldn't believe. Then I was pbing and couldn't keep Water down. I went in for a slight unfill. The dr. insisted he had to take out at least .5 ccs. So now I'm down to 2.8 ccs. Well, it's been more than one month and I have gained 7 lbs. Some of it was Fluid because I was dehydrated. The good news is I'm going in Monday to get some put back in...I'm just down I have gained!!! I too would like to be close to goal by my one year anniversary, Jan 18th. I exercise Monday through Friday for one hour but I still gained. Hopefully, this fill will do the trick. Good Luck to all, Susie

Hi bandsters, Haven't posted lately but read your posts almost daily. I got a fill and was just too restricted. My stomach just got too swollen and after 2 weeks I had to be unfilled by .5 ccs. What a bummer!! I now have to wait 1 month to some of it put back in... I originally was at 3 cc and had .3 put in so doing the math I now only have 2.8. This is definitely not good. I can eat anything. I'm totally miserable knowing I am gaining. I know all about self-control however I have none. On the bright side I met up with a friend I knew from my gym and we are now meeting every morning Monday thru Friday at 7am to get our exercise in, so hopefully that will help. Hi my band family, I too check in daily, even if I don't post up I still love to hear what's up with all of you! I got another fill on Weds. I now have 3.3 in my band and have lots perhaps too much restriction. The hair loss I've been having continues but seems to be slightly better...probably cause I have lots less to loose. I know this is the place to go for the best scale. What is your opinion, I'm in the market for a new scale. Mine will give you any weight you desire. Just keep jumpin' on and sooner or later you'll find a number you like!!! lol Thanks in advance for your help, Susie

Hey Loser, sorry I don't know your real first name lol I have had lots of problems w/hair loss. You need to see your dr. to see what your levels of b-12 is.. mine was low. I had to take one shot per week for one month. Now, I take them once per month. Also, take one biotin tablet once per day. It is still fallin' just not as quickly. Hope this helps. Susie
