As much as I would like to lose weight quicker, I would be super proud of myself if I were able to lose 1-2 lbs per week! It would help
me stay consistent and dedicated. I am not banded yet..will be in MAY so I won't know how fast my body can lose weight just yet.
I don't want the excess skin..or AS much so gradual is good for me!
Good luck Keep us posted

Hi there! I am TOTALLY excited that you and I have the exact SAME surgery dates! I will be going in for surgery around 7:30 A.M. May 4th.
Don't be scared! Be excited and look forward to new beginnings. That's exactly what I am doing. My husband is the only one who knows
and he has been so support with pre-op dieting and hearing me vent about my future as the true "skinny" me.
I'm also excited about keeping a daily journal and taking weekly photos to see my progression. My weight losses are so temporary and
I usually gain it all back once I have quit the program.
I would love to be a chat buddy if you're interested! Good luck with everything!

YAY!!! CONGRATS! 8 lbs is amazing!

Hi NotSoSureYet, my surgery is also the same date, but I haven't been nervous at all. Like you said, the hoops we had to jump through were time consuming, consistent and lots of dedication. So to throw that all away wouldn't be the wisest. I am glad that you are leaning towards the surgery. I am actually VERY, VERY excited to get banded. I have had cosmetic surgery before so that's probably why I have not been nervous about this one. I am too anxious and excited to see my weight loss progess to stop and think of the "what if's."
I know you all will be fine and do great with recovery. best of wishes to you all and let's keep each other updated on our surgeries!!

Hi everyone!
I am surfing online and came across Vitamins for those who have had bariatric surgery called Bariatric Advantage.
Has anyone tried this or ordered online before? I need to get on some sort of chewable Vitamin and my surgery is May 4th so I don't
have much time!
Thank you for your help!

Congratulations!!! I am currently doing my pre op diet for my surgery on May 4th.. Doctor told me to start off this week with two slim fasts and one decent meal of 500 calories or less. Then next week I am completely living on slim fasts! Hope this helps.. Oh and two days before surgery is Clear Liquids .

Hi there, I am having my surgery on May 4th and my entire family does not know. My husband is the only one who knows and has been very supportive of my decision. I chose not to tell my family because they are very judgmental of weight loss surgery. I will eventually tell them after I have seen success in my weight loss. No need for unnecessary stress before surgery. I know others will say "how can you not share this even with your parents?" well... My parents are traditional Asians. They have never been over 140 lbs therefore their train of thinking is narrow when it comes to struggling with weight. I don't need people judging me for making this decision. I will let the results tell them!!

Hey ccblue! Congrats on the same date! I am in orange county, california. I met with my surgeon and I'm currently doing a slim fast diet to get healthier for the surgery. So excited!!!

I understand EXACTLY what you are feeling. Why do I understand? Simply because my surgery date isn't until May 4th, 2011.
So you have MUCH better than I do, but I still understand the disappointment. Hang in there. Keep thinking positive and
like others have mentioned, be happy you have a set date. Others are anxiously waiting for the call of approval and you are one step from the finish line with
this waiting process. Keep your chin up because I'm doing the same thing. May is really far away from now, but hey, I'm still just as excited.

Oh honey, I am so sorry to hear that. My husband wasn't so thrilled about me considering bariatric surgery either. He keeps saying "Why can't you just watch what you eat and exercise instead of getting the easy way out?" But he didn't understand that this isn't the easy way out. It's a tool to help with weight loss. Honestly, it's not gastric bypass where pounds just fall off of you. You still have to work hard for your weight loss, count your calories, and work out. That's what alot of people don't understand.
Now, my husband is more understanding since I already have a set surgery date. Even though it won't be until next spring...he's still trying to change my mind about it. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! lol
I honestly think that your husband has his own insecurities that he isn't talking to you about. He may feel that when you lose weight, you will either leave him or find someone else. That's what my husband admits to sometimes. So that could be a reason. However; it's not your fault and you should not feel bad. I know it sucks that the person you want support from the most isn't giving it to you, but like the others have mentioned...bring him to a class and let him learn about it. He may even consider it.
Best of luck to you dear.

Congrats!! That still good news...some ppl don’t even get approved!!but I’m new and have my seminar on the 16th and I was wondering what kind of questions did you ask???
Thanks!
Well prior to attending the seminar, I had already done so much research that the entire duration of the seminar was just confirmation of
Information I already knew. I asked them about recovery time after surgery
And about fills for the band. Also I did ask about the risks and realistic
Numbers of risks. Other than that I wasn't so worried and enjoyed
Getting as much information as i could. Good luck !!

That's great news! I just looked up the word "patience" in the dictionary, and it said, "see babs 88!" :frown: Your extreme patience will pay off in the long run.Thank you so much! It is hard bein patient, but I always look at the positive that's going to come out of all of this. Thank you for your kind words

So... I have been on this journey to get approved for Lap-Band Surgery since June of this year. I was scheduled for my OFFICIAL surgery date in MAY of 2011. I know it's quite a ways from now, but hey, at least it's all done! I guess the insurance I have (Cal-Optima) has a wait list because they have covered so many people already. But it's okay. At first I was disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to get it this year, but when I think about it.... I made it. The journey of my new life will begin in MAY and I have no complaints. I'm really looking forward to it and I wish everyone a smooth journey on getting your dates set too. :frown: Happy Holidays!
It is possible for those who have CAL-OPTIMA to be approved for Lap-Band if you fit all the criteria. Don't give up hope!

Oh, the loops insurance companies put us through! But in the end, by going through all of it, it has made me even more appreciative of being able to get it. I know some people have hard time with their insurance companies approving of anything these days. I hope your weight loss journey will be a success story
P.S. Thanks a bunch for the info on the tracker!

One more question...
How did you guys get the cute little ticker weight tracking chart? The butterfly and flower designs are cute and I'm new to this. I would really like to have one so if someone could take a minute out and help me, I am super grateful!
May Day
