Hey Mr. P, that's what my doctor said too.. Is to drink Water 30-45 mins before a meal and an hour after. But what about just sipping water? Do I have to wait 5 minutes to take another sip?
-
"finally did it"... Congrats on your surgery! I hope the gas pains go away for you. I still have it but doctor said i can take gas x. Have you tried taking that?
-
One question, I know we have to wait 5 minutes in between liquids and 10 minutes for solid foods.. Does the five minute wait period also apply for Water?
-
Hey slm2007! Thank you for your post. And I am in no way offended by it at all. Actually, I wanted to thank you for preparing me for the hunger stage!
Yesterday (2 days post op), I contacted my doctor's physician about gas pains and along with that, she told me to go ahead and go to phase 1 of my diet which are full liquids
and Protein shakes. So that's what I did...my husband made me an 8oz glass of Protein shake and just Water. Omg, I took about two sips and couldn't take it anymore.
I felt pressure on my chest and it was so uncomfortable. I'll smell food around the house and it will smell amazing to me, but I have no interest in picking a piece up and eating it or anything.
I'm finally not so swollen so I do feel my appetite coming back little by little. I know this next 5 weeks before my first fill will be pretty tough, but with the stage diets,
it will help me keep my mind of cheating for sure. I don't plan on it anyways.
I hope you are doing well and please do share your experience with me! Looking forward to hearing from you

Is it normal to feel your port when walking?

Hey! Congrats on your surgery! We are so close together which is awesome! I haven't started on Protein Drinks yet..still on Clear Liquids such as Water, sugar free Popsicles, and chicken broth.< /p>
I hope you're doing well today. Last night, I was in quite a bit of pain. I slept for about 10 hours and woke up feeling refreshed. Keep me updated!!
-
Cindy C, thank you so much for your kind words! I am on day 3 post op and feeling much better today. I'm still gassy as ever, but like you said, it will take a few weeks for it to fully go away.
I am taking an ounce of liquid per meal sitting like I should and haven't had the urge to eat anything or even think about food. I have a feeling this will be a success for me too! Your weight loss is amazing..I will
join you very soon!

I'm sorry to hear that! Your mom is very much like many other people out there.. They don't view lap band the way we do. I think shes going to try her best to convince you not to get it. Since you're so close to her, yOu should take her to a suppOrt group with you!

Congratulations on your surgery. It works!
Make sure you get your Protein.
I let myself get too weak and ended up passing out in the kitchen. I hit my head going down and ended up in the ER. Please be careful. I still make Protein shakes from GNC every single day (even though I am at goal) because this way I start out my day with a boost of protein.
Thank you!! Oh my! That's not a good thing to pass out ! I'm lactose intolerant as well so I may have to return the protein shake I just bought and go to GNC. The only pain are my gas bubbles and I feel like I need to burp but can't and so my chest hurts. Any suggestions on how to get rid of these bubble pains? I have tried walking.. It helps but not always.

Hey! I was banded yesterday 05/02/11 and aside from occasional pain, I feel great to know that I am finally banded! I chose to get the Realize band.
So far, I have been having gas pains and haven't eaten much of anything. My husband made me 1/8 cup of clear chicken broth and I can barely get
down 1 - 3 tsps. Is that okay that I don't eat as much? I will be on this liquid diet for the next 4 days until I can graduate to full liquids.
I was hoping if you guys could give me some input. I have been sleeping and walking whenever I can..just from yesterday, I have lost 4 pounds!!
I know it's all Water weight, but DANG...never had that happen to me before!
I'm loving my band and looking forward to this amazing journey

I'm one day post op and I have pretty bad gas pains. I try passing gas to get it out, but sometimes when I want to burp, I can't. I am still on Clear Liquids for the next four days.
Don't feel like eating anything...
-
I was banded yesterday and from last night until today, I have only consumed about 10 calories from chicken broth and Jello. I'm still healing so I know I won't be able to eat much, but I'm dedicated to playing by the book simply because I want maximum weight loss. I feel restriction already (weird enough) and have the realize band. Don't know if that makes any difference...

Hope everything went well. When you're up to it, let me know how things are going, how you're feeling etc. Remember, today is the first day of the rest of your life!!
The 11th will be here before I know it.
Marcia
Hey! I'm feeling better. it's a bit painful and I'm sore but totally worth it. I had 1/4 cup of chicken broth and have been full for hours. It's an amazing feeling. It's definitely the beginning of a new life
So, have you started pre op diet?
-
I was banded this morning. Just laying down right now, buy wanted to wish all the May banders a safe and speedy recovery. The future is bright for all of us
-
Thanks, Marcia! Well it is almost here. A few more hours and I will be at the hospital waiting to get banded. Congratulations on your set date! I remember the day the doctor's office called me and said I was approved, I was the happiest person alive. Then when I got my surgery date, I was able to relax and know that the hard work and jumping through hoops with insurance company was worth it.
And now, it's here! I know what you mean..I have been counting down days and hours lol. I will come back and definitely share with you my experience. Please let me know if you have any questions so far.

I know this may be out of your way a bit by an hour or so, but I definitely recommend Dr. Peter Leport's bariatric team located in Fountain Valley, CA.
I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. They help you from "hello" to the moment you are ready to get banded.
Insurance is a pain in the rear anywhere you go, but with a staff that's personal and helps you stay on track and get everything done to get approved.

Let me join the boat with all of you! Other than having a BMI of 47, I am completely healthy on the inside. (hard to believe, I know). I just went in to see my family practice doctor and blood pressure, sugar level, iron..etc are all good and in the healthy range. Even my doctor was impressed with my internal health. However, due to the weight, my arthritis has gotten worse and it's so hard for me to do much of anything. I try to stay busy by doing laundry and cleaning, but I just HATE having this extra weight on me. I'm so excited for my band on Monday the 2nd. AHHH
-
Yay! Glad to know that you're happy and got your first fill. I was scared that it would hurt too...I don't like needles! Good luck and keep us posted on your weight loss
-
Wow 14 lbs is good!! Keep it up I have lost 4-5 lbs so far and my surgery is on Monday. Man, pre op liquid diets are definitely a challenge.
-
My doctor's office scheduler called and asked me if I would be okay with pushing my surgery date from Wednesday, May 4th to Monday the 2nd instead and
I said YESSSSSSSS. I am so ready for this and this is awesome news for me! The reason is my surgeon hurt her neck so she's on medical leave.
I will have another surgeon, but he works in the same office of surgeons and I have heard good things about him.
Just wanted to share with you guys my excitment. This will be the FIRST Monday I have ever looked forward to
-
Yay for you guys! I'm less than ten days away and I am soooo excited!

I have never been thin either (My smallest size as a teenager was a 13) and I cannot wait to finally see the TRUE ME!
I would love for my arms and legs/feet to shrink. I want to be able to buy a cute pair of heels and actually be able to wear them.
And I have never been able to get into the single digit jean sizes so that is a definite goal of mine.
There are so many images running through my mind when I try to visualize myself being thin. I guess we will have to wait and see!
Good luck you guys
