  1. Thank you, Bug! This is a place we seek refuge during our times of need. We are already around those who either don't understand how our lifestyles are and those who simply are nasty about us bandsters. We gotta stick together
  2. Okay, so I am 11 days post op and starting to seriously get my appetite back. Last night I noticed that I was actually hungry and ate my whole dinner of 1 scrambled egg and 1/2 cup of soft beef stew. This morning I had to run errands so I stopped by mcdonalds and got the oatmeal and one egg sausage mcmuffin for my daughter. I took two bites of her mcmuffin (excluding the muffin.. Only sausage and egg) and had about 1/4 cup of oatmeal and now I'm full. I'm just wondering what you ate 11 days post op and how much. I don't want to mess anything up but I'm also scared of over eating because I don't have restriction.
  3. Don't beat yourself over it too much! Today I had some sausage egg mcmuffin from McDonalds and I have been kicking myself for it all day. And to make matters worse, my stomach is reminding me of my screw up....I haven't been able to eat much at all since breakfast at 9am today and I'm sad that I didn't control my temptation to not have some... We all go through it honey and I am so glad that you were able to reach out to us and not be ashamed. I'm sure some will judge us for this, but just gotta pick ourselves up and continue.

How much did you eat post op?

Rachel, what is your eating like now? I'm trying to find healthy mushies to eat.. Mashed potatoes don't settle well with me..
  5. I showered the next day after surgery. I didn't have any bandages, but instead I got my incisions "glued???" I don't know how to describe them. I'm sure you can shower, just don't face the shower with water running so much. Plus, it will clean off the bacteria!! Oh btw...my goal is 140 too. Yay us

    Needing Encouragement

And Holy, I'm sorry to hear about your spouse's infidelity.....that is definitely a tough thing to go through. I wish you the best!

    Needing Encouragement

Rebecca, let me start off by saying....WOW. That is amazing!! It takes alot of effort, work, determination and motivation to get where you are now. I think you have hit a plateau with your band and a fill for you would be the ideal thing. Since you will be getting your fill in a couple of weeks, I am sure that will jumpstart your weight loss again. I am sure you are a beautiful person inside, and now you're showing it on the outside. Heck, I'm sure you were a beautiful person on the outside even as the former-lap band you! Don't be depressed...as for the opposite sex, it's tough as it is to get to know guys and you'll have to face dilemmas with feelings and emotions regardless of size. You have come this far...and you can pick it right up with a smile on your face and some motivation. You are so close to your ultimate goal. I know you can do it!!

Then you are certainly one of the lucky ones Congrats on your band.
  9. Great job and congrats!! keep up the good work and it's always so nice to see results. My family are noticing my weight loss and are so happy for me. I am happy for you and keep us posted!
  10. That's so good to hear honey! I am on my mushy stage now and just had some tofu....uhhhh...I think I didn't chew it well enough because now it feels STUCK. I'm not in pain, but there is discomfort. My doctor said I can eat anything that I can turn into liquid in my mouth by chewing too. But I'm sticking to yogurt, tofu, refried beans and eggs for now. Oh and I did treat myself to 1/8 of an avocado We are on our way girlly! And congrats on the weight loss. I'm down nearly 24 lbs since a few days before the surgery!! Keep me updated!
  11. I experienced that after my surgery too. Hang in there.. The gas pains are pretty bad but you can take gas x and it does help alot. It will get better! And just think... You are finally banded! Your amazing journey starts now!!!
  12. Omg princess!! I'm so sorry that you're in so much pain that makes me sad.. Can it be Tuesday for you already?!?! It's even hard for you to keep hydrated when you can hardly keep that down... Hang in there. Your suppOrt group is here!
  13. Thanks hon! Yeah, I totally know what you mean about having a homecooked meal compared to easy store bought stuff. Nothing compares to home stuff! Right now I'm 8 days post op and should be on to mushies soon.. That's what my doctor said. Hanging in there what are you eating now?
  14. Opps, I spelled your name wrong. "teekii" sorry typo! And another note .. Broth cubes have about 900mg of sodium. YIKES!
  15. Teekkii!! My mom made me homemade stock and soup too! She was so good to me this week and made anything I wanted to eat. I'm down 20 lbs total and she's so proud of me.. Always complimenting me. I haven't had that in 10 years and it touched me that she cares so much about my health and happiness. You have a good family (sounds like granny is awesome!)
  16. I'm so sorry to hear that! Wishing you won't have to do that.. Good luck with everything and please keep us updated.
  17. Hey! I was banded yesterday 05/02/11 and aside from occasional pain, I feel great to know that I am finally banded! I chose to get the Realize band. So far, I have been having gas pains and haven't eaten much of anything. My husband made me 1/8 cup of clear chicken broth and I can barely get down 1 - 3 tsps. Is that okay that I don't eat as much? I will be on this liquid diet for the next 4 days until I can graduate to full liquids. I was hoping if you guys could give me some input. I have been sleeping and walking whenever I can..just from yesterday, I have lost 4 pounds!! I know it's all Water weight, but DANG...never had that happen to me before! I'm loving my band and looking forward to this amazing journey
  18. Are instant mashed potatoes even good for you? I rather have the real thing and not put the bad stuff (butter and such) in it. I can do thinned out real potatoes because it's not so bad. Thanks!!! As for other foods, I'm living on soups and Jello right now. I need to get used to having Protein shakes. I know many people are starting to love their daily Protein Shakes and I would really like that for myself too. It just the getting used to part right now. We can do this!! I'm so thankful for LBT.. it's a lifesaver
  19. OMGGGG I made instant mashed potatoes a few days ago and the instructions said to thin it out to soupy consistency and wow..it was not yummy. But it was better than being on broth so I didn't complain. OJ sounds so good right now. Can we have that?
  20. Way to go on the 2 miles per day!!!!! That's amazing!
  21. What kind of chest pains are you having? A few days ago, every time I would inhale, it would hurt. I was afraid of possible blood clots or whatever, but it slowly went away. Just the other day, I had my first burp and it was glorious! For the longest time, I wasn't able to burp and it caused a sharp pain in my throat and chest. I think you should call your doctor about the chest pain. I don't want to scare you, but your health is vital and we can't sit here and assume it's something else when it could be an issue. Someone may know about this! Please help!
  22. I felt that with my port too, but after calling the doctor's office, his assistant said that it's okay to feel it. Once the swelling goes down, you won't be able to feel it anymore. And she's right because I don't feel it as much anymore and it has only been a week post op. As for sugar....I can't help you there. I'm not getting enough Water and my urine is disgustingly yellow when it's usually clear. i try my best to get in enough water, but the sipping is still a struggle for me. I used to gulp my water like a savage and now I have to sip like a lady...oh boy
  23. I'm six days post op and on liquids as well. What kind of soft foods are you eating? Omg, Jamba juice sounds delicious lol. Hmph..are you waiting 5 minutes in between sips?
  24. Teekii77...I'm having the HARDEST time with this full liquid diet! I swear I am done with Soups and Protein shakes. I crave being able to eat normal food again so bad...I told my husband that I just want to take a bite of spaghetti, chew it to a mush, and spit it out LOL. Of course he said no... I am in no means trying to be judgmental or anything...so if any of my comments ever come off that way, I apologize in advance! I'm am a rookie with this whole lap band. Only a week post op and already going crazy with the liquid diet lol.
  25. Hey everyone, I am now six days post op and I can still hardly eat anything! I am not taking in enough Protein from the shakes because I can barely finish 1/2 cup without either feeling too full or sick of it. I'm starting to have a tough time with this liquid stage because I'm a person with love for food texture. So being on this liquid phase has been a tough ride, but I'm hanging in there. I'm still having gas, but not so bad. I'm so glad to be uP and about now. I would like to exercise, but will wait til I go to my two week check up to get the okay to go to the gym just to walk. As for food... I need some ideas for yummy and healthy liquids!!
