    Bathroom problem- Constipation

Thanks you guys! I feel better now knowing I am not harming my band. I went to the store and got benefiber!
  2. Does pushing really hard while constipated hurt the band? My stomach hurts now...

    Protein and water requirements

Try the Protein shakes from costco called PREMIER NUTRITION. It has 30g of protein in an 11oz bottle. 160 calories and 3 grams of fat. 1g of sugar. Sounds like a good shake to me. I have been drinking one for Breakfast and one before/after work out. (I just drink half of it and then the rest when i get home from the gym). It tastes pretty good and I like it. So try that...

    5 more days......

Even though you will feel some discomfort from being swollen, I don't think you will necessarily refer it to feeling crappy because when I had pain, yes...it was uncomfortable, but as soon as I tell myself that I have the band, I would smile! I don't know if others feel this way, but I will endure any type of pain knowing that there will be a good result out of it. Congratulations on your surgery date and I am excited for you!!!!
  5. I am four weeks out and like the topic title states...I have been eating salad left and right! I would add diced boiled egg, avocado, fish, some cheese and drizzle it with a vinaigrette such as raspberry or balsamic. Are you a salad lover? I don't have restriction yet, but I have read and heard that many people cannot tolerate salad after getting fills..
  6. I had my surgery May 2nd and have been going to the gym for more than a week. I'm only allowed to do elliptical and treadmill. I won't be able to do strength training for another two weeks. If you feel good, start doing light cardio
  7. I'm three weeks out and won't get my first fill until June 13th. I have been hungry and wanting to eat. I try to make good choices and measure out everything I eat as well as drink Water. It gets harder day by day. I could really use some advice and tips. Thanks for your time
  8. For the few days, my lips have been swollen, chapped, and burning! I have never had this experience before and my husband thinks it's because I am beyond dehydrated. I try to drink as much Water as I can. I saw my family doctor yesterday and she couldn't tell me what was wrong either.... has anyone experienced super chapped/burning sensation to your lips?? Help

How do you survive BANDSTER hell?

Thanks for the advice! I am still sticking to small portions, but I can't seem to get away from bread......especially toasted baguettes. (I'm french so it's a stamp in my life). Other than that, I am making sure that I measure food. When I eat something that I haven't measured out, I feel really bad about it.
  10. Great idea! Well for pre op diet, I only lost about 5 lbs. After surgery, I lost about 17 lbs, but once i started eating solids, my weight came to a stop. I understand why because I am eating and that's fine with me. I'm hoping to start losing again, but I understand that this is healing month for me..

Fell Off the Wagon Today :(

Your choices aren't bad at all honey! I seriously thought I was going to read that you had went out and got yourself a bucket of fried chicken or something! LOL! I snacked for the first time today and kept taking a bite of everything I saw in the fridge. I then figured that I'm doin this because I'm hungry! So I'm now eating a Protein packed lunch of chicken and tofu. Glad you're on track again!
  12. Hi Jessy! I was banded on May 2nd, 2011 and I agree with Judy that the first two weeks will be your hardest. I am almost three weeks post op and I feel great!! I did lose alot of Water weight after surgery because I wasn't eating or drinking much so now my weight is at a stop temporarily. I just started working out this week and have been enjoying solids. Mentally, I nearly went crazy when I wasn't allowed to eat food, but just remember that it's all temporary!! You'll be able to resume your eating soon. The pains will go away. Even though this surgery is mainly same-day outpatient, it should not be taken lightly. You have just been cut open so it is vital to take care of all of your incisions and your body. Make sure you have someone there to help you get up. I live in Tustin so we aren't so far from each other! I wish you well and keep me updated on your progress Best wishes.

    waiting 10 minutes between bites????

How funny that I found this post! My doctor's office told me to wait 10 minutes in between bites too! I did it because they stressed that this was important, but I do agree that it is a bit ridiculous. It takes me literally almost an hour to finish 2 oz of chicken! And by the third bite, I'm sick of it because the food gets cold (I know I can always reheat). So seriously..I DON'T have to wait 10 minutes? That sounds so great. I'm just scared of stretching my pouch that's all. I haven't had my first fill yet... still in bandster hell!!

    Bariatric Advantage?

Hi everyone! I am surfing online and came across Vitamins for those who have had bariatric surgery called Bariatric Advantage. Has anyone tried this or ordered online before? I need to get on some sort of chewable Vitamin and my surgery is May 4th so I don't have much time! Thank you for your help!
  15. Okay, so I am about 2 1/2 weeks post op. I got the "okay" from the doctor to eat solids again. I'm allowed to eat anything in moderation except for rice, pastas, breads, etc. That news made me sad because of no carbs (which I am a CARBOHOLIC!) Anywho, I have been craving seafood. Yesterday and today I have had tons of crab dipped in lemon/salt/pepper. I went easy on the salt that's for sure. Doctor said it was good Protein and low in fat. I don't have cholesterol so I'm not so worried about that. It's just a craving-phase. Have you eaten seafood (if you're a seafood lover). The only thing I haven't eaten is raw oysters. I don't think it's a good idea yet.
  16. You look AMAZING!!! Way to go!

    Right after surgery

The day after surgery was the worst for me. I was in pain, was looking forward to taking the liquid pain meds every four hours. I could walk around (which helps tremendously), but as far as getting out of bed or getting up, I needed assistance from my husband. I don't know about others, but I had the full package of chest pains, sore neck, short of breath, and gas pains. All of them went away about a week post op. I didn't eat or drink very much at all. All I did was took my meds and slept all day. I hibernated for a good few days and it felt great. I'm a stay-at-home mom so there was no work to be missed. I was very sore the first two days, but that too, went away. I am about 2 1/2 weeks post op and running around doing everything I used to do. I was at 24 hour fitness today on the elliptical and burned 200 calories. Life is grand after the band...no pain no gain!! You'll be fine sweetie
  18. Okay, let me just start off by saying.... I haven't gulped since I was banded two weeks ago, BUTTTTT... I am BEYOND tempted to! I have been timing my sips and made sure I don't take down too much, but seriously, how am I supposed to get my daily fluids with this sipping? My main question is, how many minutes do you wait in between sips of Water? I have read that many people still drink the same way they used to, but wouldn't that hurt the band? I'm just full of questions today! Thanks in advance for any help!

3 Weeks Out and Can Eat Anything

Oh no, I heard this was "Bandster Hell!" It's called that because without restriction, we'll be able to eat like we did before lap band. I'm two weeks post op and on to solids now. I don't wan to test the waters because I'm afraid I'll get caught in old bad habits! What are your portions looking like?
  20. Hi there! Okay let's start with the hunger issue. I have learned that you're not feeling hungry in the beginning stages after being banded because your stomach is still swollen. Some people start getting their appetite back a few days after or even a week or more. As for me, I didn't get my appetite back until the 9th-11th day, but even if I was drooling over something, I wouldn't even be able to eat 1/2 a cup of it. Burping is one of my biggies! I burp all the time! It seems like every time I drink or eat...I will let out a little burp. My doctor says it's fine and actually is good that I'm getting it out of my system. SOOO...you're fine I am a stomach sleeper, but haven't been able to do that in a while. However, I have been sleeping on my side and if it causes you minimal to no pain, but I don't see the problem...But right now since you have only been banded for a few days, I would recommend sleeping on your back until your port incision and is fully healed. I hope this helps!!

    Craving fruit!!!

I am on to mushies already, but have just been craving the juices of fruits. That's what my husband said too!!!! He said "don't make this spitting out fOod a habit because it can become a habit." My doctor said I can basically eat majority of foods if I chew it well enough.
  22. I am about 13 days post op and have been craving fruit like crazy! So i have been cutting up pineapples and pears and chewing them, sucking the juices of it and then spitting out the pulp. To me, it's a good snack and I get liquids.. Has anyone ever done this? Ps.. I don't like baby food fruit .

    Oysters?

I LOVVVEEEE raw oysters too! Good thing you brought this up.. I haven't thought about that. I don't see why you can't have it.
  24. My doctor said 6 weeks is the ideal time to get the first fill. I think this is what many others call BANDSTER HELL! hang in there
