    No Support from Husband

Oh honey, I am so sorry to hear that. My husband wasn't so thrilled about me considering bariatric surgery either. He keeps saying "Why can't you just watch what you eat and exercise instead of getting the easy way out?" But he didn't understand that this isn't the easy way out. It's a tool to help with weight loss. Honestly, it's not gastric bypass where pounds just fall off of you. You still have to work hard for your weight loss, count your calories, and work out. That's what alot of people don't understand. Now, my husband is more understanding since I already have a set surgery date. Even though it won't be until next spring...he's still trying to change my mind about it. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! lol I honestly think that your husband has his own insecurities that he isn't talking to you about. He may feel that when you lose weight, you will either leave him or find someone else. That's what my husband admits to sometimes. So that could be a reason. However; it's not your fault and you should not feel bad. I know it sucks that the person you want support from the most isn't giving it to you, but like the others have mentioned...bring him to a class and let him learn about it. He may even consider it. Best of luck to you dear.
  2. Thanks! Well prior to attending the seminar, I had already done so much research that the entire duration of the seminar was just confirmation of Information I already knew. I asked them about recovery time after surgery And about fills for the band. Also I did ask about the risks and realistic Numbers of risks. Other than that I wasn't so worried and enjoyed Getting as much information as i could. Good luck !!
  3. So... I have been on this journey to get approved for Lap-Band Surgery since June of this year. I was scheduled for my OFFICIAL surgery date in MAY of 2011. I know it's quite a ways from now, but hey, at least it's all done! I guess the insurance I have (Cal-Optima) has a wait list because they have covered so many people already. But it's okay. At first I was disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to get it this year, but when I think about it.... I made it. The journey of my new life will begin in MAY and I have no complaints. I'm really looking forward to it and I wish everyone a smooth journey on getting your dates set too. :frown: Happy Holidays! It is possible for those who have CAL-OPTIMA to be approved for Lap-Band if you fit all the criteria. Don't give up hope!
  4. Thank you so much! It is hard bein patient, but I always look at the positive that's going to come out of all of this. Thank you for your kind words
  5. I got a call from my insurance coordinator today and she said the final approval has been confirmed by my insurance. I am BEYOND excited. When I first got the call, I didn't know how to feel! I was so overwhelmed and plus, I was busy working. Now at home, thinking over and looking forward to a new life, I am SO EXCITED. I know how it feels now to wait and wait........and wait, but trust me ..you will find good news soon. Good luck to everyone. Now, I just need to meet with my surgeon and do pre-op testing.

    It's a GOOOO!!!!

Oh, the loops insurance companies put us through! But in the end, by going through all of it, it has made me even more appreciative of being able to get it. I know some people have hard time with their insurance companies approving of anything these days. I hope your weight loss journey will be a success story  P.S. Thanks a bunch for the info on the tracker!

    It's a GOOOO!!!!

One more question... How did you guys get the cute little ticker weight tracking chart? The butterfly and flower designs are cute and I'm new to this. I would really like to have one so if someone could take a minute out and help me, I am super grateful!

    It's a GOOOO!!!!

Wow! Some of you are ahead of me by already scheduling a surgery date! Someone from the doctor's office said they will call me back within 5-7 days to schedule my surgery date and for me to meet with the surgeon. I will be having my surgery with Dr. LePort's surgery team in Orange County. If anyone has had him or his team do surgery for you, please let me know! So far, they have all been helpful and very pleasant to work with. I'm so excited to start liquid diets and get the ball rolling on my new life. Great job to everyone

    Just needed to celebrate

What an inspiration you are to me. You look fantastic and keep it up! Thank you so much for sharing this!
  10. I am ONE step closer to finally having a surgery date like everyone else. The insurance coordinator called me this afternoon and told me that she had spoken to the director of my insurance (Cal Optima) and he told her to follow up with him by the end of this week to see if I will be approved or not. She just told me to hang in there and hopefully she will be calling me next week. Initially, she said at the latest of two weeks and 1/2 that I will be hearing from her. But I guess it's another week or so of waiting for me. I suppose it's not as bad as I'm making it out to be. I've waited 21 years to make this decision, so another week wouldn't hurt! I just needed to vent. I have been feeling so heavy and it's harder for me to walk as I am reaching 265lbs. Good luck to everyone on your journey.

    hate this wait!!

I know how you feel! I went through all the requirements to get approved for the procedure and it has been three weeks, and NOTHING! I called my doctor's office a few times, but no luck. so, I called the insurance network and they said it's still pending approval. I don't think you will lose too much weight to not be able to get the lap band. Good luck!!
  12. First off, congratulations on your weight loss! Secondly, you are down by 70 pounds, so you ARE doing something right  I think you should try to be more consistent with measuring food until you feel comfortable with eye-balling your portions. But overall, I am so inspired after reading your post! Best of luck to you :)

  14. Hi Holly, I'm on my last steps of submitting paperwork to insurance for approval for surgery. Good luck to you!
  15. Hi everyone. So, I attended the nutrition class, support meeting, had my psych evaluation, and now I am waiting for my doctor's talk before my insurance coordinator is able to support my information for insurance approval. I am sooo excited and hope I get approved. My BMI is 48 and I keep telling myself they'll have to approve because I am so overweight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I need this weight off so I can join police academy! How long does it take for insurance to approve and set a date for surgery? I appreciate all answers
  16. That is amazing! You are such an inspiration. I am still in the early stages of getting my paperwork in for insurance approval. I just need to attend a doctor's talk and I will be able to submit to insurance. I needed this story.. Thank you so much!
