    poop Tea

I would NOT drink that tea. The gas pain is not because you need to go to the bathroom. They pump your stomach cavity with gas so they can see in there to place your band. The last thing you need right now is to get dehydrated. Drink as much water as you can. Walk around as much as you can.
  2. I eat carrots and potatoes. I try to limit potatoes but I don't see why you can't have both in moderation.
  3. Keep drinking but make sure you drink some water. I barely finished a protein shake a day for the first few days. Sounds like you are doing well.
  4. You need to eat healthy and exercise. You can eat ice cream all day with the band. Should you? Of course not. You must make the right food choices and exercise. It doesn't do everything for you. Follow every instruction your surgeon gives you... That's how you will succeed.

    stool softeners

Oldie, we have the same surgeon and her recommendation to me was to increase my water intake signficantly. I upped it to 100 Oz for a few days and it worked great. I never needed a softener. For several months after, I took Benefiber but I don't need it anymore.
  6. How lucky are you that now that you are ready you already have your tool in place?!? No surgery or post-op pain. You can just hit the ground running! You can do this! Best wishes.
  7. Totally normal to be nervous. I was nervous too but you will see that it is much easier that you expected. I was teary once I got into the hospital gown and the nurses and doctors were SO understanding. I was just nervous. When they roll you into the room, they just put a mask on you and you breathe in like 3 times and you don't remember a thing after that. I didn't know I had a tube down my throat - I hadn't even thought of it until I had a little scratchy voice after surgery. I had all the same worries that you are having but seriously, it was a piece of cake. I also had very minimal post-op pain. I used the liquid prescription pain medication the day after surgery, then liquid Tylenol the next day and haven't even needed to take so much as a Tylenol in the 8 months since! You'll be fine. It's ok to be nervous. Just realize how many of us here say that we would do it again in a heartbeat. I know I would. I wouldn't steer you wrong. It was easy for me.
  8. Hi, Don't worry about it. I only had to eat soft foods the day before surgery. I didn't have to do a liquid diet at all. Also, there is no need to clean out your system. I remember your story from a few months ago and the trouble you were going through with you insurance carrier. I am SO pleased to know you are having your surgery tomorrow. I know the whole process was really frustrating for you. Don't freak out. You'll be ok. Keep us posted! How exciting!! Best wishes!
  9. What a great post! I totally agree that with commitment to change - amazing things can happen. It wasn't that long ago that I was 256 pounds and not even walking my dogs on a weekly basis! Now I am training for a triathlon on September 11 and this involves training six days a week - strength conditioning, running, biking, swimming and repeat. So much of this journey is a positive attitude. I think sometimes people need to rely on themselves more for the willpower and strength to do what the band can't do for us. Some expect the band to do everything but I find that those people on this forum that are really successful are relying on the band as little as possible. Sure, restriction can be obtained from the band but eating healthy choices and exercising are not obtained from the band. I'm proud of all of us who have made that internal mental change to look after ourselves better and to get the lives we deserve. I am not at goal yet but I have no doubt that I will get there. This is a good life and I want to participate in it as much as possible! Best wishes to all!
  10. Don't get discouraged! You know this takes time. You won't always get the results you want but if you stick to your plan, you'll do great.

    Is it just me?

I have had ZERO problems with my band and haven't even had a fill. Even the negative posts help me. I find it makes me so thankful that I am doing well and not having problems and it also reminds me that some day I might need help and support like people who are struggling need now. Sure, I don't love the posts but I do try to respond to the posts that sound like they are coming from people who are genuinely trying to work their band. I don't respond to the posts from people who flat out refuse to change and I also don't want to waste my time replying to a post I feel will fall on deaf ears. You see those people on here all the time. I had to stop responding to posts about people breaking their surgeon's rules because those are the hardest for me to take. it just makes me really mad - even though I don't even know the person!! "Everyone cheats" is simply not true. I have not once broken my surgeon's rules and many on this board can line up right next to me in that category. You will see, very early on, who you can listen to and who you must simply dismiss from your thoughts. I know I definitely click on posts that might not interested me because I see the last person posting there is one of my peeps who I know thinks like I do. Not to see if there is something I can add, but to read their post for my own benefit. Don't get discouraged, Genesishanna. You will learn to weed out the posts you should ignore in no time. The band has worked like a charm for me - with no fill - because I followed my surgeon's orders and am committed to living a healthy life. That's pretty easy, no? All the best!

    Stoaked but concerned as well.

Stop complaining and be happy. Ride that wave as long as you can!
  13. Could it be that you have a leak?

    4 days Post Op

I didn't have that but I've seen other people have had the pump. I wasn't in enough pain to need medication for 48 hours.
  15. Yay Vicky!!!!!!!!!!!! Give yourself a pat on the back!!

    ready for my first fill

I wouldn't think so but every surgeon is different. Mine waits six weeks.

    4 days Post Op

I didn't have a lung machine either. i hear that some people have to give themselves injections for ten days after surgery. So glad I didn't have to do that either!

    when will i poop

It might not be constipation. It might just be gas and stuff from the surgery. Some people don't go to the bathroom for a week or more after their surgery. You aren't taking in any real food so there shouldn't be too much in your digestive tract. Remedies like Colace only work if you increase your Water intake. I imagine three days after surgery you aren't taking in enough water to make it happen and it could just make that feeling worse. Call your surgeon if you are really concerned. I hope you start feeling better soon.
  19. I have always been able to drink as fast as i want. I have no fill in my band either. I wondermif your band may be looser because you've lost some fat around your tummy?

    HELP! Not Losing Weight. Frustrated.

If you are training you need way more calories than what you are currently eating. Bump your calories up to 1500 for a week and see how that goes. Seriously... I've been in the same boat and am just starting to figure out how the training and nutrition piece works.
  21. I'm still here! My triathlon is less than a month away! Yikes! The scale hasn't moved much over the past month but the clothes I bought a month ago are definitely getting loose. I had to buy new workout pants - in MEDIUM! I can't believe it. Im working in trying to eat more since I'm training hard and exercising six days a week. I'm using my bodybugg to help me figure out the range of calories that will get the scale moving again. How is everyone else doing?

    Watch your Symptoms!

I'd always heard that people with a slip can't keep even Water down. Did that happen to you? Did the doctor tell you why this happened and why so quickly after your band was placed? Get well soon! Best wishes!

    Angry, Frustrated, Hungry

I agree that you will just have to get over it. I'm not trying to be rude but the poster above is right - this is temporary. You are limiting yourself but turning your nose up at so many things. Try vegetable stock, mushroom broth, a different type of Protein shake, low sugar fruit juice, a different brand of broth, bouillon. Just hold tight and do what you are supposed to do. It's temporary and necessary.

    Lap Band and Hcg?

I have no clue what HCG and I could Google it... however, based on the posters above who have tried it, it sounds like a fad to me. Sure, it sounds like it worked temporarily but then everyone regained the weight. I don't think it is a good idea to mess with your natural hormone levels if that's what it involves. Your body works the way it does for a reason. Change your weight using healthy eating and exercise.

    3 day post op question

I would stick with the protein shakes. Slow, small sips all day...
