I used hypnosis to quit smoking. I smoked for fifteen years and after my second session of hypnosis I stopped completely. Didnt even need the patch or gum. Haven't smoked since and that was three years ago. I don't even crave it. I did try one session after that for weight loss - didn't work for me!

    do's and dont's

I think it varies. I drink coffee and take a fiber supplement daily. I also am allowed alcohol buy choose not to have it. Follow whatever your doctor says!
  4. Just worry about staying hydrated while you are on liquids. Do your best to get your shakes down but don't get concerned about malnutrition in this short time period.

    I AM AN ISLAND

I feel like you might care too much about what people think. You want to be recognized for your accomplishments but, sadly, it doesn't happen often enough. The only person you should be worrying about impressing is yourself. You are fabulous and wonderful. All you need is to make sure YOU think so too!
  6. I have three quarter inch ones plus one inch long and one two inches long. The quarter inch scars are fading nicely. The other two will stick around but since my tummy is a bit smaller these days they have shrunk!
  7. I haven't had that kind of pain - read this and saw no responses yet. I just looked up where the gall bladder is to see if it is on that side and it doesn't appear to be. I once had some pain near my lower rib - turned out to be inflamed cartilage on my rib. Have you ever had any injury there? Definitely keep your eye on it. I hope it gets resolved soon. Best wishes.
  8. Jes.. Come post in the Post-op area. You'll get more responses. Welcome to the board. Ive lost 72 but have 50 to go and am now realizing that there will always be "evidence" that I was morbidly obese for over 30 years. It's depressing. Just know you aren't alone in feeling that way.

    Anti Streched Pouch

Hi, I think your diet looks good. My doctor talks more about volume of food than weight of food. For example - my meals are to be less than one cup each (rather than 3 oz this or that). So, if I eat a cup of salad - that's only a few ounces. She's just more concerned about volume. So, I would say that so long as you are staying within about a cup at each meal - you should be good. I don't have any fill in my band so I don't really ever get that "full" feeling. I know some people get a hiccup or a burp or some slight pain in the shoulder but it sounds like you are making good choices. How is your weight loss going?
  10. Hi, I didn't have to stay overnight but I wanted to respond to you just to let you know that it is totally normal to be anxious about surgery and the hospital. I have had surgery before and so I didn't feel overly nervous but I was totally teary before my procedure. I warned my doctor about it and she was completely understanding and everyone there was so kind and reassuring to me. They expect you to have some nervous about not only being in the hospital but the procedure and after care. Also - if you are worried that your anxiety is going to get the best of you - let you doctor know - they might give you a little "cocktail" in your IV to help with that. It's going to be ok. I really feel like you should just let your surgeon know that you are anxious. You'll do great!
  11. I'm starting my scuba certification courses this week. Just figured I would check in on this thread and make sure no one has had any problems... So excited! I've always wanted to get certified but was always scared there wouldn't be a wetsuit big enough for me.

    Sacramento Kaiser where is bariatric?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I imagine you would need to start with your PCP.
  13. Could be a sodium issue? Frozen meals are loaded with sodium. Try upping your water intake.

    counseling for food addiction

Maybe consider going to Food Addicts Anonymous. It helped me. You can find a meeting near you and get a sponsor. Www.foodaddictsanonymous.org
  15. Hi Kat, Post this on the pre op thread too - you might get more responses. Best wishes!

    Alcohol?

Didn't your doctor tell you that you shouldn't have any carbonation? Mine is quite strict about it. You certainly shouldn't be consuming alcohol - even in limited quantities in my opinion - while on your post op liquid diet.
  17. It's totally normal - they pump you full of saline before and during surgery. Don't fret. You will see change. Give it a few weeks. The first few weeks are all about healing and resting.
  18. I believe you but I just can't believe he did that! You shouldn't be lifting things or doing anything strenuous. My doctor even said no exercise except for walking for the first six weeks!

    Gurgling at night

I don't have an answer for you but I wonder if you are maybe eating too close to bed time (but that doesn't explain it happening in the morning)?

    The dreaded tummy rash :(

I hear it does help to create a record of it being a problem. Someone else posted about this recently and the suggestions were Desitin or another type of diaper ointment. It could also be something that needs a prescription... Have your PCP have a look next time you go in.

    Drinking while eating

Yes it is normal for the time being - probably because you advanced your diet against your doctors orders. You are probably still a bit swollen on the inside. Get back on your surgeons plan and stop pushing it! Really. You can do it!
  22. It depends on the surgeon. I had no pre op diet.

    Drinking while eating

You should be following your surgeon's directions. Im glad you are feeling pretty good but the rule breaking needs to stop. You might be setting yourself up for a rough road. You don't really want to be using fluid to get more food down. You want food to stick around in your pouch area. Do what you will but please consider following your doctors rules. Best wishes.
