Weight Loss Spreadsheet
CheckYes replied to CheckYes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bummer, I still can't find btreiger's spreadsheet. Has anyone else found it? -
Hi there, Someone recently posted a link to their weight loss spreadsheet. It calculated all sorts of things including how much of your excess weight you have lost. Would that computer genius who posted it be willing to share it by emailing it to me? I could try to create my own but I don't think it would be anywhere near as helpful as the one I saw. Thanks so much! It would be appreciated! Best wishes!

Swan, Are you on a pre-op diet? Sometimes the low calories can get you on a bit of a roller coaster. The surgery is going to be fine. In and out before you know it. Let yourself have your feelings though - it is really important to be patient with yourself but to also recognize that this is a relatively simple procedure. You will be fine. You can do this! I'm Day 12 post op and feeling great.

Did they forget to put in the BAND
CheckYes replied to SCRUPPLES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Katy, I'm seeing more and more people on this board who are having fluid put in their bands at the time of surgery. If someone is having problems swallowing or eating mushies, I always ask if they had fluid in at the time of surgery. Most patients weren't told there was fluid already injected. -
I didn't need pain meds past day one post op. Once I was off them I felt so much better. Give your body time between each dose to assess whether you need another dose or whether liquid tylenol will so the trick. Sounds like you did well! Welcome to the other side!

1 month till surgery!
CheckYes replied to Justine86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! Check the pre-op forum - you'll find people going through exactly what you will. It's a great place to get support and motivation during that time period. I don't have any tips other than to encourage you to follow your doctors orders to the letter! Good luck! -
Hi, Are you sure they didn't put fluid in your band at the time of surgery? I'm finding that there seems to be a higher prevalence of people having difficulties like what you mentioned that there is already fluid in the band at the time of surgery. Why not call your doc and ask? Maybe also give them the scoop on how you're feeling.

Amber, Give it time. Just sip sip sip all day. Move around as much as you can and take it easy. It gets better every day.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?

Jake, Watch the slippery slope there. If you know taco bell will go down easy and there are ten taco bells in as many square miles, don't let it be something you turn to easily. I buy vegetarian fat free Refried beans and sprinkle a bit of cheese on the top - delicious. -
I was told benefiber was fine. I used it for months prior to surgery and was told I could keep using it except for the day of surgery. I haven't needed it.

It's a good lesson to learn about preparedness. Forgive yourself and move on.

Questions about protein supplements and weight loss pre-op
CheckYes replied to sarahh1828's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was a breeze for me. Didn't need any pain meds since the day after surgery. No gas pains. I was able to sleep on my tummy on Day 2. I read a lot on these forums about the surgery and knew what to expect. I think positivity an preparedness played a huge role in making this easy for me. Also, my surgeon is in a Bariatric Center of Excellence and is very skilled. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Im down 17 pounds in 11 days. -

Scrupples, How much are you eating? What's your daily calorie intake? -
I wonder if it's just this thread or if port flips are more common in Realize band patients...

Give it time. You've practically been starved since banding. Give yourself a few days with things being the way they are supposed to be. Let your tummy settle down. I'm so annoyed that they put fluid in during surgery and that the nurse doesn't seem to care. They should take it all out. I hope things improve drastically in the next few days Stay positive and strong! You can do this.

Good luck tomorrow! Stay positive! I've had a great experience so far. I wish the same for you.

Surgery on December 23rd
CheckYes replied to Linnielady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're going to do great! I was a little bit nervous myself but I'm 10 days post op and, frankly, felt pretty good on day 2. I didnt even need pain meds after the day after surgery. Being prepared helps a lot. Preparation and positive thinking made this surgery and recovery pretty smooth. I wish the same for you! This is a great Christmas present for yourself.
