  1. I hope so! I found a different surgeon and she has started sending me out for all those wonderful tests to see what the problem rally is and how she can fix it. I had a Barium Xray on Friday...I dont know the official results yet but I do know that my stomach litterally looked like it was shaped like a POM juice bottle!!!! =o(
  2. Hi there! I am VERY disapointed with my so called progress!!! I am a year out and have only lost 80lbs (most of which I have lost before surgery.) I too can eat larger portions than I think I should be able to eat. I was exercising and dieting religiously and would only lose 1 pound every 7-14 days!! Needless to say I gave up! Now, I haven't gained any weight back no matter what I do or don't do, but it's still frustrated! I should mention that when I had my sleeve done, I also had a nissen fundoplication (a proceedure that helps control severe acid reflux) and I was told that I would never be able to gulp liquids, burp, or vomit...EVER! Guess what? I can do those things (have been doing them frequently) I went to see a different surgeon (my actual surgeon refused to scope me because he thought I was being a lazy cry baby) and she says that my surgeon wasn't supposed to do both proceedures especially not at once and that my stomach is way bigger than it should be for someone who has had a sleeve..... Get a second opinion!

Maybe a weird question...Do hooded eyelids go away????

Yea...I guess it couldn't hurt to go in and see...I would like to have it done even if i have to pay...im sure it isnt that expensive. Anyway, thanks so much for the information. =o)
  4. Hi everyone! This may seem like a weird question but I really wanna know....Have anyone here had problems with hooded eyelids while they were over weight? If so, did the "hood" even out after becoming slimmer? I ask because when I was younger/slimmer, I was able to apply eye make-up with no problems but once I became overweight, I developed this loose skin drooping over my eyelid which obviously interferes with the make-up application. I hope I don't come off as vain...It makes me kinda sad to have this...I hope that it goes away!!! Anyway, if you have the same problem, had sucess with the problem or have a solution for me please let me know. Thanks!! Angel

Maybe a weird question...Do hooded eyelids go away????

Hello Luanne! Thanks for the reply. My eyelids aren't altering my vision..at least not yet so insurance wont pay for it but I am still interested in getting them fixed after goal weight... Did they put you to sleep for the procedure? Was it painful? Do you have any before and after photos that you wouldn't mind sharing with me? Thanks

  10. Hello All! Brian, As a fellow former Soda addict who has quit cold turkey, I would advise to just leave it alone!! Think about how it felt to be addicted to the soda...Think about how hard it was to quit. Also think about all the reasons (beside the weight gain) why soda is bad for your body. When I went a day without soda I felt so off...I'd get headaches and would be so moody...I SOOO don't miss that lol. I haven't had surgery yet but, I don't think I will try soda again. Ok now let me stop writting about this because Im starting to sound like im talking about crack lol. I hope I don't strike anyones nerves...Just wanted to give some soda advice.

The lapband was my first choice as well for the same reason that you mentioned (except having more kids...I have 3). So far i think it is the only reversible proceedure but for me it's either get the "sleeve" or continue my struggle with weight. I would not consider a bypass at all unless my life was at stake. Just the way I feel. Say, did you ever go to that meeting on Tuesday? Say, did you ever go to the meeting on Tuesday?

Oh that's great! Let me know how it went.. Lpr stands for Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease... The best way I could describe it... Acid reflux on steroids!!! It's an awful heartburn like sensation acompanied by a horrible cough and indigestion. My case is pretty bad so it requires surgery. The surgery would be done in the same area where the lapband is to be placed so the lapband is out of the question. Is the vertical sleeve your ultimate choice or are you still "shopping around"?

Hi...Was wondering if anything new has happened? I went to Dr. Kini's office yesterday. I had to wait a little bit but everything went well. Everyone there greets you with a smile and they are very well organized. The Dr. was thrurough and polite...he answered every question in full details and offered plenty of reading materials for my research....He looks like he is very confident in what he does. His nurse Rashida is a sweetheart! If you are still looking for a Dr. maybe you should see him for a consult. =o) Unfortunately I cannot get LapBand because I have LPR but he suggested a vertical sleeve which I may consider.

Hi...Im in NY as well and just got Medicaid/Healthfirst. I made my initial appt. with Dr. Kini at Mt. Sinai Hospital (NY). He came HIGHLY recomended! I don't know what other types of insurances he accepts but for sure he takes Medicaid/Healthfirst. Here is his team's website...Maybe it can help. =o) Surgically Slim: Weight Loss Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital
