  1. Don't freak!! It's all ok. I had my band in August 10 and got pregnant (on purpose with IVF) in March. When I was 11 weeks I went in and had 3.5cc removed from my band and continued my pregnancy with 2.5ccs. My baby was born 11/17 at 7.6lbs. She is perfect and I had no problems at all. Continue your vitamins and call your Dr when you get a + hpt. GOOD LUCK!!
  2. I had a very intentional pregnancy (with IVF) 7 months after having lapband. This was my one shot and I took it. Do whatever is going to make you happy. My pregnancy is going great so far
  3. I am fab! I have emailed you a few tmes but didn't know if you have recieved them or not. How are you? I love your pic!

2ND FILL ~ Possible over fill?????

It's kinda hard to tell this soon after a fill, especially you are are just having pain and not "throwing up" After my 2nd fill I had that same pain but I gave it a little bit and realized I was eating way to fast. Even though it seemed slow compared to my old eating habits it still wasn't slow enough for me. Even after I moved on to solid foods I was having a hard time and thats when I started PBing and sliming. I was still eating to fast and not chewing well at all. It took me a bit to get the hang of it. Are you really paying attention to how fast you are eating and drinking? Are you laying your fork/spoon down after each bite? Try that. If no luck don't hesitate to call your Dr and see what they think.
  5. As everyone else had said it's a case by case deal. In my case I have had 2 fills and have 7ccs in my 10cc band. I am doing awesome and have been losing weight constantly. I should be in onderland soon!!!
  6. What amazing accomplishments everyone has made!!! I was banded on 8/27/10 and have lost 30 lbs since!!!!

    Swallowed gum

I have heard alot of people who "aren't allowed" to chew gum on here. I gues my Dr is just super liberal. I chew gum alot and have swallowed it without problem. I have great restriction with 7cc in my band. I think if you haven't noticed anything crazy bad that you should be ok. If you notice you are having more stuck episodes or anything like that I'd go ahead and call your Dr.

    When did you see results?

I had surgery on 9/27 and have lost 24 lbs. I started at 231. I just recently started working out but I really think that is going to make the difference for me. I just got my second fill and have (around) 7ccs in my band. My dr is aggresive and very liberal. I like it  I am feeling proper restriction now. I think you are doing great!!! Like the above poster said this is a marathon not a race. Slow and steady will win! Congrats on you loss so far!

    1st fill

Hey!! I fortunely did not go through "bandster hell" and never had hunger pains. I never felt bad or like I was starving. So, honestly I feel exactly the same. I did just eat some soup and feel full. I hope your 2 weeks will fly by and you find comfort with your first fill.

    1st fill

I had my first fill just a few hrs ago and let me tell you...It was nothing. I was nervous but I felt a quick baby prick. Felt some pressure, then sat up drank Water (needle was still in, but didn't bother me at all) laid back down and the needle was removed. Let me tell you, even though I am a nurse I am super afraid of needles and it didn't phase me. I did however get a bad headache. Not sure they were correlated. I have 5cc in my band now. GOOD LUCK girl!!!
  11. I do see what you are saying considering you are POST OP however, let me just throw this out there. Last summer I went to surgery, without an IV, for a pacemaker. They would use Lidocane and cut, lidocane, cut, lidocane, cut. I was completly awake the whole 2 hours. I had to tell the Dr when it was time for more lidocane. I would rather have that done again than go through the pain I had with the lapband surgery!!! The gas pain was ridiculous and not only that but you are going through a emotional change. I am here to support anyone and give my journey. I can only hope your journey is as easy as you expect.
  12. Yep.... you are in that 4-5 day post op "slump". I think a majority of us felt this way. I have said a milion times and will continue to say....On day 4 or 5 I text my husband and told him I wanted this thing outta me. And at that time I seriously meant it. Good News: IT GETS BETTER!!! Try a warm pack/ heating pad to your neck. Make sure you take your pain meds regulary (even if you aren't hurting too bad) and especially before you go to bed. The liquids will get better. Just take it slow and easy. sleep at as much of an incline as you can, pillows stacked or in a recliner. Walk and rest!!! Best of luck to you.

    What is "bandster hell"?

I am 5 weeks post op and so lucky to have not had to go through "bandster hell" but from what I can gather its: Uncontrolled hunger Hunger pains Being able to eat any and everything There maybe more but I think those 3 pretty much covers it. I think I maybe the exception rather than the rule though. I hope you have a great journey!!

    Port Pain

Normal... or for me it was. As long as you aren't running a temp, notice the site being red, swollen, hard, hot or oozing I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  15. amandac82

    Something is wrong...

Could it possible where you port is? My port pain felt alot like that... I hope that is all it is. Keep us posted
  16. I remember those 4-5 post op days. I text my husband and told him I wanted this thing outta me. Walking hardly helped with the gas and gas x was a joke. The only thing that really did it for me was a heating pad. I didn't stop walking though. Feel better soon!
  17. I am a OBGYN nurse in North Central Texas. Going to school now to be an CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist )
  18. amandac82

    Scars...what are you using?

I asked the OBGYN I work for what he though and he said Vitamin E oil or the Rose Hip Seed. He said the rose hip seed can be hard to fine, where I live anyway. The Vitamin E is doing great for me. I apply it 2-3 times a day.
  19. I know a girl who has hers since 2001 and still doing great. Maintaining after having children and recently had a tummy tuck and breat aug. I have a pacemaker and ,to me, the Lapband is alot like it. They are both saving my life. So... I'll get them replaced as necessary and not bat an eye. I wish everyone would see it that way.
  20. Is there any possibilty that you are depressed? I know when I am depressed I hurt and am extemely tired. It takes everything I have just to move a little bit. If not, how is your calorie and Protein intake? Are you exercising? Changed your routine any?

    Head Hunger

I think everyone who has been banded has went through that as some point, regardless of age. You just want to chew something. The only thing that really helped me was sucking on a hard candy. I limited myself to 1 or 2 a day but that seemed like the only thing that really soothed me.
  22. I HATE working out and I HATE they gym.... so I do Zumba twice a week, which I do love and I do cardio and strenght training once a week. I am not a personal trainer type of girl. My personalitywont allow it and my Dr is happy with that. Now that it is getting into the awesome fall weather I am going to take short walks in my neighborhood.

    Bread, Rice & pasta?

I can tolerate, so far, bread, pasta and rice. My dr is and I am all about moderation. He wants me to eat as normal as possible. I was banded on 8/27 and have lost 19lbs so far. I'm very happy with that. I also know there may be a time when I can't eat those things so I am enjoying them now...in moderation. Moderation is key

    pcos do you have it?

IVF is very hard. Each time I felt like I had ,in a sense, killed someone. Each time I had the perfect embryos, actually, my fertility clinic used the to teach first year embryologist. None the less they just didn't stick. We will be using, probably, Gladney out of Dallas Tx. My husband is black and they have the ABC program. ABC is a program for black and biracial adoptions. That programs is also based on a sliding scale fee. So like for my husband and I, we make between 75,000-100,000 a year, our out of pocket would be around $11000. There is also an adoption agency where I live and they start at $15000. Are ya'll thinking about adoption? It's scary but you can always message me or PM me!:smile2:

    pcos do you have it?

I do have PCOS and luckily haven't had any problems. I have had 3 failed IVFs and 7 failed IUIs. We will do IVF one more time then adopt. I am sorry that your Dr wouldn't do IVF after 40 and that you lost your tubes. I also have endometriosis and had a pelvic lap the same time I had my lapband. It worked out great. All the pain done at the same time. So to you all you other PCOSers Good Luck and I hope you are as lucky as I am and not have any problems since being banded!
