HappygoSusan got a reaction from gpmed in Sugar Addiction
I'm almost embarrassingly weak to admit I have to not bring sugary items Into the house.
I am not always strong enough to leave it in the store, but I absolutely agree with this statement. Saying no in the store is always easier than resisting something that's calling from the kitchen!

What great replies on a an important long-term question. The answers varied a bit, but most seemed to indicate staying away from most sugars.
I'm almost embarrassingly weak to admit I have to not bring sugary items Into the house. It is just a way of shopping and living for me.
Quest bars are as sweet a treat as I can take in the pantry.
I just have moments of weakness and many years into this reeducation.... I find that is the best solution for me personally. It helps I live alone with my cats...yikes...I sound old!!!

Oh, sugar....
I'm a salt person, personally, but I do love chocolate and ice cream and cake and brownies and doughnuts and....
If I give them up cold turkey for 3-4 long azzzzzzzz days, I stop craving them. It's weird but true. I might think about them, but it's containable. If I do give in, the cravings are real for about four or five days.
You have to make up your mind and stop the refined sugar. It sucks, it's hard, it sucks. Once you get over the hump, though, the physical cravings cease, you just have to manage the head cravings. You can do it.
