  1. I just went to my first Zumba class last night. Loved it. Being married to a Latino, I know the moves already because we love to dance. Just so fun to dance it up Latin style. I just started Turbo Fire with Chalene Johnson today too. LOVE IT> That's cardio kickboxing and I'm in love with the program. Got it on eBay for $50 for 15 dvd set - all brand new.

  2. yeah the research study at South San Francisco is just taking pics at the beginning and report our progress. I haven't rec'd any paperwork on it. No drugs or anything like that. I think they're just collecting data so they have data for the future and the success of the sleeve surgery.

  3. I found out I needed a CPAP machine when they did a sleep apnea test on me. I have mild obstructive sleep disorder. However, since they ordered my machine and my insurance covered it and I have one very expensive machine now, I don't use it. Slap my wrists. I hate the thing. The total face thing made me feel like I had an alien on my face. So unattractive to your mate, too. Then I did the nose pillow things and that was better, but I just hate the darn thing. So I haven't been using it. Didn't use it in the hospital either. I should just sell the dumb thing on eBay. Shhh, don't tell my doctor.

  4. Hi everyone. I'm now 3 weeks and 5 days out from surgery day. I'm down 21 lbs. I'm so excited. I was at a stall for a week I think. I went on vacation from Thursday - Monday and weighed myself this morning. Was very pleased that I'm down another few pounds. So I've lost 31 since September. I'm still drinking 2 costco Protein Shakes a day. I'ts been hard getting the Protein in just eating food. I'm afraid of overeating. Or not getting in enough by eating I should say. Dr. Le had told me to try a new food every few days. I'm able to eat chicken (dark meat) and fish. cheese.

    anyway, how's everyone else doing?

  5. Thanks so much for that amazing post. 3 weeks after surgery and I'm struggling so much with head hunger. I'm afraid of eating too much and stretching my new tummy out. I've been at a stall since Saturday and that has depressed me somewhat. I will read your posts and your feelings and see if that helps me get through this hard time right now. I love my sleeve. I'm just new to it and trying so hard to make sure I make it work. That is what I'm worried about too. That I will fail and everyone who voices their opinions will be right. Sigh.

  6. Stacey, glad you are doing so fabulous. I will be at week 3 tomorrow. I've been at a stall since Saturday. Feels like I'm hungry a lot. I'm dealing with the head hunger issue. Just trying to make good choices. Right now I feel like if I don't stick to stage 2 of the diet, that I will fail and won't get in enough Protein. Drinking 2 Proteins shakes a day gets the protein in a lot easier for me. But then it doesn't help the head hunger at all. And some things I THINK I want, but when I try them, I hate them....as if my tastes have changed. I went cold turkey off coffee. My last cup was 2 days before surgery. Didn't get a headache because I was already in pain and on pain meds during surgery. ha ha.

Anyway, I hope at week 9 I am still not at 17.5 lbs lost. I hope it's more like 30-35. I need to step up my activity. Getting a few DVDS to I can workout instead of just walk.

  7. I'm doing great everyone. Hey when do you guys take your prilosec. My pharmacist put on my directions to take two before a meal once a day. So i take them before I eat in the morning. Seems to work all day.

Today I've had sort of a sour stomach. I had an egg and slice of toast and I think I overate. then later in the day I thought I needed a bite of cheese pizza. That didn't go over too well. I was already feeling a rumbly in my tummy all day. Darn head hunger is what I'm combating. I need to still work on that.

Dr. Le gave me the thumbs up the other day. Said I'm doing great. I'm his "lightweight" and he told me it wouldn't be easy but he had confidence that I'd use this tool to the max. I know I will. I've lost 17 lbs since surgery on January 5th.

I'm so glad I went through this. The first week to 10 daysI wasn't so sure. But I'm happy I got through everything ok and that I'm doing good.

OH, my skirt falls off now. :)

  8. I personally wouldn't get a sleeve for a 25 lb loss. I know we all have our own decisions to make. Do you have high bp, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, diabetes, or any other conditions? If you don't have insurance, it's a very expensive process. that's just my personal opinion. I don't know if they'd even do a sleeve surgery on a BMI of 30.

With that said, my doctor thought I might try it on my own, too, and I had for years. Only to fail. I was 100 lbs overweight with high bp, hypothyroid, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and couldn't lose weight for anything. I was sleeved on January 5th and I'm down 17.5 lbs since surgery. I had full coverage insurance, so it was 100% paid. I don't regret a day that's gone by.

  9. You guys are all doing great. I'm at day 13 and I'm down 14 lbs since surgery. I'm so happy. I bent over to pick up clothes and put them in washer, swept the floor and some other things that I thought were minimal, but my biggest incision site was sore all day, so today I'm laying low. No picking up anything or bending.

I'm feeling amazing though. Walked for 4 hours at the mall on Saturday and I swear that let the kinks out. I don't know if my organs settled, or what (haha) but I have felt amazing since then. Family wanted to go to Chinese buffet on Sunday. I was reluctant to go. At first kinda sad. But once I got there and told the waiter I wasn't eating, I busted out my Protein shake. I felt liberated at that point. Happy that everyone else in the restaurant was stuffing their face with crap and I didn't. On a "normal diet" I might have cheated and then it would have shown up on the scale. Yeah me for the non scale victory over food.

  10. I too love food and was sleeved 12 days ago. It has been tough physically but I feel amazing today. I have gone through a couple of mentally challenging days. But yesterday we all went to Chinese buffet. At first I was upset and didn't want to go. But while I was drinking my Protein Shake, I all of a sudden felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction and liberation. Everyone else was feeding their gave with horrible food and I was down 13.5 lbs since surgery. You'll get through it-one victory at a time

  11. Lisa, I had the same burning feeling, and today, one week out, it feels much better.

I'm over the burning feeling now 9 days out. Today I was in mourning over food sorta. Strange, but I woke up hungry. And couldn't eat too much of course. Took awhile for the feeling to go away. I have cried twice since my surgery. I mean really hard. Hormones running wild. I'm getting stronger every day. I'm looking forward to my doctor visit on Wednesday with Dr. Le. I hope he starts me on Stage 3 foods cuz I am really craving fish and cheese. Odd.

How is everyone else doing? I'm down 11 lbs since surgery on the 5th. I guess that's what not eating and losing half your stomach does. ha ha

I'm still tired, but not as bad as the first week.

    Well, talk soon.
