    Being cold is getting old!

I relate. It's so ridiculous for me to have the heater set to 78 all the time, and yet I'm tired of feeling like I'm freezing all the time... And I'm still cold. Lol Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Newly banded

Doh you're right hehe. I was thinking of the sleeve. I didn't have healing hunger or acid hunger with the band at all. Head hunger, yes. ^^ Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Band vs Sleeve

I think by "user error" my surgeon meant compliance, that in his experience band people were less likely to follow the rules. But with any procedure we have to follow the rules to be successful. We all know that. @@laceemouse Yeah, I agree with that. I just see a lot of people who are forced to have revisions due to band complications through no fault of their own, and others insisting it didn't work because of their "user error". Product liability type of issue. Hehe Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  4. If you have no food issues, and you don't obsess about food, then why the need for wls? Many naturally thin people who temporarily gain weight due to physical problems, once they can physically eat normally, the weight just naturally comes off. It doesn't become an issue for them. My grandmother who was naturally thin, became permanently bed ridden, gained a little at first, lost it, never gained any weight again for the rest of her life. You gained seventy pounds. That is a lot of weight to gain, and that's a lot of intake calories. Once you do lose it due to your sleeve, chances are it'll come back two fold if you do eat around your sleeve (or as you said, stretch your sleeve to eat and drink as you want), especially if you couldn't lose the weight naturally in the first place. Band vs Sleeve

I had the band for 7 years, successful as well, lost over a hundred pounds, kept it off by eating right and exercising. No serious complications but did get an esophageal dilation a few times for being too tight. User error? No, I don't believe that. Perhaps in some but the band, overall, is more fussy. It depends on many things, like how your body adjusts to the band after adjustments, and it depends on the precision on who does your fills, their knowledge, their experience... Etc. For example, my first surgeon was excellent, found my green zone fast... But after moving, and my body changing due to weight loss, finding a competent surgeon/nurse was not as easy as some may think, especially since the surgeons tends to favor the sleeve over the band these days.... And unfortunately, for me, it not only required technician skill, but it costs $$ and time for each adjustment to find that green zone. Would I recommend it? Sure. I loved my band when I had it, but I think it's good to know all the aspects, the good, the bad and ugly. ^^

    Hunger/Stall

Hunger feelings are normal in the early weeks because a swollen stomach, your stomach healing and the excess acid your stomach is making. Your stomach is used to making enough acid for a much bigger stomach. All those things will mimic hunger. Just make sure you take your antacids daily as your surgeon recommends. My hunger dropped off on day 16 or 17, some take much longer before it drops off, and others quicker. Just make sure you get your protein and Water levels in, and things will improve. Good luck!

    I'M A LIL HUNGRY

Yes, it's very normal. My hunger dropped off around 16 or 17 days, others it drops off a little bit later than that and vice versa. Through the entire process you'll get head hunger too, and acid/swollen stomach mimicking hunger... Etc. Just keep taking your antacid regularly. As far as protein, if you get tired of protein shakes, perhaps get a good unflavored protein to add to your broths... Etc.
  9. @@OzRoo Thank you, thank you. That's such a good information and a great motivator for me to drink up. I needed it because the last 3 days I've been struggling because I just haven't felt thirsty.
  10. @@donny Great job on your reset. I've been on 16:8. Props to you, I don't think I could do 18:6!

    Still Shrinking!

That's great, Ozroo! I hope you can resize your pretty bracelet so you won't accidently lose it. Ahhh, time for new shoes for you. Congratz on your NSVs! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    "The Crown"

I had the day off, and started this today... I'm on episode 4. I love it!
  13. I can relate. During pre-op I was asked to stop my Triamterene-HCl, and I gained like 13 lbs water within a few days. My right calf swelled up terribly (edema). My PCP told me to keep taking it which was direct opposite of my bariatric surgeon. I felt in the middle of a tug o war lol. In the end, I followed my PCP but also followed my surgeon to drink extra extra water if I was to stay on it.
  14. I don't unless they are clear liquids but I think most do. Either way works.
  15. "Only" is a four letter word hehe. I generally lose 1-2 lbs a week. You've done remarkable, try not to be frustrated. After all the Water loss, too fast of weight loss one can lose a lot of muscle.

    It finally fits!

Thanks to both of you! I agree that it looks big and it definitely is when I'm standing but previously if I had attempted to sit the buttons would have blown off machine gun style and killed my cat. I love my cat.Lolol oh man... Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  17. I asked my surgeon about that, and she said that the drinking rule must be followed, but it does not apply to Protein Shakes or broth soups. Otherwise, wait 30 minutes before drinking water.
  18. I'm almost 3 months post-op. My program calls for 800-1200 cal/day, 60g+ Protein, and 64 oz+ Water. I typically eat a variety of things, changes daily. My main protein sources are edamame, lots of fish and seafood, Beans, homemade milk kefir, cheese and chia seeds. I usually have a serving of fruit a day, usually half a grapefruit or blueberries, and for vegetables, I really love spinach salads. I eat clean, and almost everything I eat is unprocessed.
  19. Wow, looking at you now it's as if you were never overweight. Great job, and I completely agree with you that pre-op was the hardest part. I absolutely dreaded it lol.

I agree with @@doxaholic, it does look a little too big for you now! You look great, and ty for being such an inspiration!

    I'm so frustrated! [emoji30]

@@Capricornrose You still have a wonderful tool that you can work with, and I think because you were honest that you're having trouble with the behavior part, you've already taken a big step to getting back on track, unlike so many who are in denial. I'm sure you already know what you need to do but here's a reminder: Perhaps visit a NUT, ask him/her some getting back on track hints, keep a journal of every bite you eat (if you aren't already) so you can see your daily calorie/carbs, focus on Protein and yes yes, keep drinking your Water, and if you can't hit the gym every day, can always take a brief walk to get things going again. I wish you the best luck on your continued journey!
  22. I didn't lose any weight for the first 10 or so days because I was retaining lots of water from upping my water intake, and of course the IV I had after surgery. Your body will continue to adjust through the weeks and months. It's only been a little over a week for you so just be patient, the weight will come off. Just follow your surgeon's directions, get your protein and water intake in on a daily basis.
  23. I had severe GERD. I used to take liquid antacid, Tums, and acid controller plus a daily PPI to deal with it. I had a 4 cm hernia repaired during sleeve surgery and have had no issues since. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Quick question.... Did you know about the hernia prior to surgery or was it found and repaired during surgery? I've heard lots of people say they had hernia repair during surgery and I believe I have one... but wonder if you need pre-authorization to get it repaired during sleeve? Thanks Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal Most of the people I know get the hernia repaired during their surgery. I think the pre-authorization is all in the usual paperwork. Mine also took some biopsies of my organs.

    No apetite

I would definitely talk to your surgeon if you're almost 6 months out. Perhaps he/she will have you do a barium swallow or endoscopy to make sure your anatomy is ok. Nah I don't think it's tht severe of an issue, but thanks! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using the BariatricPal App kk Good to hear! ^^
